    I see some unused horizontal mortises or slots on the main leg pieces and on the cross braces. What are those for? Great work by the way. I’m am going to try to build a version of this with hand tools only.

    I've always been curious - doesn't making the dovetail pins so narrow make the joint less strong? Or do the relative proportions of the tails and pins not matter as long as the fitment is perfect?

    Stunning build my friend. The work that goes into these pieces is staggering to me.. I'm relatively new to woodworking. I don't have the types of tools u have but that takes a lot of effort and money to be able to to that so best of luck to ya pal. I love this piece. I love the look of Walnut. It's a beautiful timber when it's used correctly and is that maple u used for the drawers? I especially love the hand cut dovetails too btw. That's real precision there.
    I have a Jointer/thicknesser but it's only one of the cheap models. It's ok for me for now. It does ok with most woods. The great thing about a tool like that is the ability to clean up rough sawn timber which is cheaper to buy than ready to go.. That's the up[side and can save me money even though I don't work with expensive woods like Walnut atm. The maple u used on the drawers was beautiful too. It's like tiger stripes on it.
    I have a place not too far away where I can buy set amounts of off cuts from larger pieces and I do it sometimes. It's great to get my hands on some smaller pieces of off cuts just to use in a small box or as accents on another piece of furniture like Walnut handles on a Baltic Birch Plywood cabinet.
    I'm trying my best man.
    Keep up the great content. I'm loving watching these pieces come to fruition.. Salute my bro

    if you haven't already picked this up, 2:43 you should run the rounded side of your router against the guide!! If you run the flat side, any rotation of the machine will cause the path to deviate. The rounded sides are a constant distance from the edge of the router-bit allowing you to follow the guide perfectly.

    • @theroaringwoodwork2213
      @theroaringwoodwork2213  ปีที่แล้ว

      In theory, you’re correct. However, my biggest complaint with the Festool router is that you can’t center the bottom plate with a cone the same way you could with a Bosch for example. It clicks in with a spring rather than screwing into the base. That’s why I prefer the flat side.

    • @theroaringwoodwork2213
      @theroaringwoodwork2213  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is the 52” Industrial Cabinet Saw (not the PCS). I like having the extended width compared to my previous Grizzly which had a rip capacity that was around thirty inches, especially when I’m working on bigger pieces like bed headboards and larger cabinet panels. It’s perfect in my garage and I haven’t ever wished for a smaller one.
