As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement th-cam.com/users/postUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!
I'm watching this again to get ideas on how to do the joinery on a similar table I'm making for our kitchen. I found that making sled jigs with hot glue is a lot faster and more reuseable while still holding everything just fine :)
Many woodworkers have an awesome skillset, but they lack a taste in the aesthetic department. You guys actually got skill and it always looks so great!
Such a beautiful table and entertaining video. As an amateur wood worker, I am constantly inspired by your design, attention to detail, and desire to share your craft. Happy 2021!
Wow! That design is so precise and still so light to the eye, there are so many details you can look at and are still finding new ones again. Great piece of furniture from you guys! Keep on rolling 👌🏻
Wow, your table design is so beautiful. It looks ver ysculptural, meaning the proportions are well considered from every angle. I appreciate how you explain how you make things, and also show alternatives. I appreciate the fine cinematography and built in jokes too.
Love this! Your designs are always so elegant. I think this would look amazing as a walnut table with a contrasting wood color for the splines and miters
Thank you Chris (and Shaun) for the amazing videos. I am gravitating to this channel more and more as days go by. You combination of amazing cinematography, relaxing music and narration is a welcome break from the more usual "I'm so excited to build something new" kind of vibe (not that there's anything wrong with it, but I am a mellow guy, so I like mellow videos I guess). I hope that some day, I will be able to have my own space and time (and some tools) to make some stuff on my own, and your videos, work methods and design philosophy are very appealing to me, so I'll keep watchin', if you keep buildin'. Thanks.
You guys are a freaking hoot. I've been watching both y'alls vidjas for a while now, and am still so happy you teamed up. My dream woodworking youtube duo (/shop lead and assistant)
I would really like to see a dinning table with these design features. I like the solid yet light airy look the legs with the floating table top give the design.
Honest question - can you post a playlist or whatever it is that you’re listening to while woodworking? I know everyone’s tastes will be different, this is more out of curiosity
@@Foureyes.Furniture Can you have some accompanying music that's a little more lively? I keep inadvertently falling asleep while watching your videos. Soft plinky-plonky piano is Kryptonite to me - it's not that the videos themselves are boring.. 🤦
I just discovered your channel and I LOVE YOUR CONTENT!!! You guys are great; love your humor, and wit -- but ALSO amazed at your talent!!!! Incredible designs! Amazing!!!! Thank you for your content! It's wonderful.
Got used to amusement in those vids and in comments section. And I want to take a step back and say that this table is museum-of-modern-art-worth piece of furniture. Perfect.
Awesome work! I'm curious about wood movement though- do you not have to account for it because the big beam underneath will grow & shrink at the same rate as the table top? And if the table top was plywood, do you think that would cause cracking down the road?
I’d love to know as well! Seems like the tabletop would expand at a greater rate than the aprons. Especially since the grain directions are oblique to one another. Perhaps the floating mortise is somehow designed to allow for movement in a similar way that traditional buttons work?
The video and the build is amazing. I wish I had access to my tools right now to attempt this build. As I’ve just watched the Longview dining table video I’m wondering what a slightly rounded top would look like on the table.
Some of your work, especially this table, would be interesting to see if you I traduced subtle curves to one face, like the top of the stretcher + leg and the inside of the leg. Juxtaposition of straight and curved, might create a more subtle geometry than just divergent /convergent straight sides. One of the most dynamic interiors I designed as an Architect was an office fittout where the central corridor was splayed at 1.5°... the owner and staff loved it. If I was designing such a space now, I'd add a convex curve to one side to "blow out /constrict" the experience of "transitioning" the space... actually thanks as commenting on your post has given me a new idea to incorporate into my Tiny House design (which already embraced "divergent" angles)
Love this. I’m a I’m a firm believer that three legs > four legs for coffee table I’m buying these plans for that floating tenon jig alone. Speaking of triangular coffee tables and improving prior designs....haha.
You know, I used to think the Woodwhisper had the best YT videos and content. Don't get me wrong, he's pretty good but you guys add a whole new element in design, filming and editing. Love your show!
Excellent content right here! Love the design, attention to detail, and explanation you provide in the video. I’m curious, could the rectangle top be substituted for a oval top of a similar overall length and not look funny with the leg/base design? My initial thought is that if the stretcher length and leg width proportions could be balanced to fit the oval so the legs not protrude from the sides it would look fine. Thoughts?
Congratulations on the content, the videos are very relaxing and well done! Your designs are amazing, the details make all the difference. Again, congratulations, awesome videos!!!
That won't happen in their videos anymore but if you spring for the overly expensive plans you'll get what you need. In fact they now deliberately avoid giving as much detail as they could as every bit of this channel is monetized.
In their defence I really like their stuff, both of them are great designers and one of them is a pretty good woodworker. I just think it's sad that it has lost its simple roots. As soon as I see a load of Woodpeckers gadgets I know the people have sold out. I come back to check out the designs but with the sound off and my finger lingering on the fast forward button.
I was watching the video and at the same time looking for spare parts for my table saw, I came back to see the bathrobe scene, laughed out loud and knew, i missed a lot, so back to the start. Great as always guys.
Nice. I plan to do a coffee table like this one. I am a bit concerned that the table top will move/warp. I don't like breadboard ends. I tested the sliding dovetail to reinforce the table to across the width, it works well, but it shows up on the sides.
In the fwiw category (and because harmless contrarianism is fun), since we speak English rather than Latin the proper ending would in fact be "es" rather than "i" according to the Modern Language Association. They also suggest "indexes" rather than "indices" (and appendixes rather than appendices) for the same reason; English pluralizes words that conclude with an "s" sound using the "es" ending. But MLA also recognizes English as a dynamic language, so as long as successful communication occurs it doesn't really matter.
Nice table, great video. I understand the pleasing to the eye aspect. I wanted a specific curve one time but couldn't find a template to trace. That's when I realized I could freehand it better than using a template. I also think you guys need a couple of shock collars and whenever one of you says thicknesses, the other can zap you (lol). Have a safe and Happy New Year. Bill
I like to think that the fine furniture on these types of channels will end up in a home store one day and someone will come along and recognize it based on little details like the slightly rounded over edges and say.. "is.. that.. a Salomone?"

Really, really, really like this one Chris. Very clean, crisp, and accurate. A wonderful example of a great piece of furniture!
Awesome! Thank you!

your videos have greatly improved over the years Chris. It's a delight to see your work, both with wood, and cinematography. Love it :)
Watching you doing wood working is like listening to music, really nice process and works too! Thanks for sharing!
IT IS A WORK OF ART MY, FRIEND ! IM INSPIRED BY YOUR GIFT AND OF COURSE YOUR HUMOR..

It's always satisfying to improve a design, you've done well to do it on aesthetics, mechanics, and production.
Excellent video, thanks for sharing
I’ve been woodworking for around five years. Still kinda new. You have crazy skill!! Thanks for the awesome video.

I just finished a coffee table completely inspired by you guys. I used a template and router to make the legs.
Awesome! Hope it turned out great!
