Great improvement. Can I offer a little trick . When you IU TO 3d more or acro give the heli some time to build up speed or you might lose tail authority. Also when doing tic tock the cyclic and collective pass 0 at almost same time. Pull cyclic then catch with collective. Do large rainbows 🌈 then slowly bring it vertical. I hope this helps Brian.. also never use trim buttons like fixed wing . Do a trim flight ..

Brian, you are a pretty darn good helicopter pilot, despite your self-deprecating comments. I'm jumping back into the hobby after over a decade away and dusting off my Blade MCP-X WITH DX6i. Ordered this bnf from Horizon and will fling around the MCPX to warm up while the bigger heli ships. Thanks for your video and I look forward to watching more from your channel. Keep flying!

I hope my comments don't come off as too self loathing ;) I don't mean anything except to share that if you're a GREAT heli pilot, I may be the limiting factor in the performance of the craft. This is kinda what I mean when I caveat my flights and commentary. Gotta keep in mind, even though I'm a lot better than I was about 10 years ago, I'm still TERRIBLE compared to some of these guys I've watched fly in person at the feilds and events - they are fantastic...and I might be a better "analog" for the "average RC joe" but still, I am working on it...just not like the die hard heli fans. They would have it that I would quit my job, stop flying fixed wing, and just focus on helis - LOL ;) But seriously, I could get better, but we're spread thin at the moment, and I AM doing the best I can. Thanks for the kind words, and keep your eyes out for the upcoming and nicest heli we've ever done ;)

The "bent" pushrods aren't for adjustment like they are on UMX airplanes. The U-bend is a shock relief point to hopefully prevent stripping the servo gears. The FBL unit has a menu you can enter and use the TX sticks to trim/level the swash at each point.

I recently discovered your videos and love them. I bought a Habu RTF and then a UMX Ultrix and can fly them okay. I bought a Blade 330S RTF because of your video, but never even got it off the ground. I want to fly a Heli also. The 330S in normal (safe) mode would just flip over onto the right side before it would even get off the ground. Took it to the store I bought it from, and the owner tried to fly it and could not. He opened a new box and could get that one off the ground, but it immediately would move forward quickly. He told me to let him keep it and he would adjust it, but he could not. HH told him it needed a new Gyro and sent him one. It still would not work so they had him send it to them. He got it back a few days ago (been 4 months total). I came over to get it and he tried to demonstrate it but it immediately flew straight left and crashed into a barrier. He gave me my money back. Your videos make it look easy to fly in Normal mode. What do you recommend it I want to start learning to fly a Heli. My local club does not have any Heli pilots that I have been able to find.

Heli's can be very tough!!! If they don't work right, and 100% right, they can destroy themselves in SECONDS!
As for what happened in your experience, I can only speculate, which may not help, but I BET you didn't have SAFE ON or activated, as you may have thought. One trick...hold the heli with THROTTLE HOLD ON, by the rotor and swing it, and see if the blades move to correct it...it's weird feeling, and the other way is to hold it by the skids, and see if the blades correct when you pitch the heli forward and backward, then roll left and right and see if the heli RESISTS this movement. If it doesn't, you're NOT in SAFE (Sensor Aided Flight Envelope AKA AUTO LEVELING)...and if this is NOT on, as a beginner, you won't be flying for more than a few seconds.
Here's my 2 cents...if you THINK you had it wrong...then don't even TRY to take off. You have to be 100% sure. There's not a lot of wiggle room on a heli, so you gotta get it figured out, unless you're more skilled than me (and you might be)...then if you're confident, sometimes even SPOOLING UP will make a heli TIP over, and this can be very disconcerting, so you gotta get it PAST this point of oscillation, if it happens, and sometimes it's easier to get into "IDLE UP" so the blades spin at FULL (or 80%) speed from essentially anything on the throttle side (the collective AKA the LEFT stick)...then you'll spin right PAST the part where the dang thing tips over. Say the left stick is at 40% - you'll still be SUCKING to the ground...but when you get to 50% or so, you'll be about NEUTRAL on lift, then at 55% you'll be JUST starting to take off...then so on and so forth, unless you change your THROTTLE CURVE &/OR PITCH CURVE...which is just a fancy way to tie the left stick to TWO things... HOW FAST the rotor spins, and WHAT PITCH the Blades on the rotor are pointed...0 degrees would be NEUTRAL lift ;)
Hope this helps. I'm NOT a heli expert, but I'm "expert" enough to crash along side you ;)
When and if you get up the courage to try again, hit up my links, since the hobby shop evidently can't help too much (unfortunately - sometimes this happens, but at least they gave you back your money!!!)

      Infusion 180 bit.ly/3v2rsTe
Keep in mind, these are BNF heli's so I assume you're using an NX8 or NX10? If not, you will eventually NEED this capability. This is not a cheap step up from an DXs or other similar RTF (Included with RTF) Transmitters....but if you've got the bug, you're putting good money after bad to do RTF's into perpetuity....and you NEED the features to get a good experience out of the heli. Plus then you can copy what I do.
      NX8 bit.ly/3Ou7Fmk
      NX10 bit.ly/3RGCgR6
We're here to help, but we admittedly can only help so much. I hope this is enough to point you into the right direction.

@@BrianPhillipsRC I have a Blade CX 180 ETF Helicopter that is about 15 years old, and I can fly that one fine. I can also fly the 330S on my Real Flight Evolution flight simulator with no problem, even in mode 2. I have 3 micros and a drone also that I fly, so even though I consider myself a beginner, I actually can fly my other helicopters. They are all fixed pitched dual rotor with flybars and I was looking to upgrade to the collective pitch. I was in safe mode when I tried to fly the 330S (I bought the RTF with the DXS and had the mode switch in the down normal (safe) mode. I also know I was in Normal mode because I had control of the throttle. If I was in either of the other modes the rotor would have automatically spooled up. Since the store owner could not fly two of them using the DXS'smeantime,

So a few things you need to do. Number one there is swap in the head block as soon as you go to a high head speed you were going to get a massive vibration and helicopter will shake violently. Use a piece of heat shrink on the main shaft before sliding the head back on. I have a video on my channel. Also you’re going to need to lower your tail game and forward programming big time if not you will get some massive tail oscillations and it will act crazy. Incredible helicopter now with those fixed.

Just got this baby myself this week. "Flown" three times, crashed twice 😅. Next biggest heli I've controlled is the 120 S2 and there is just... there is just no comparing the two. The 120 S2 is a big step up from say, an MSRx or the Nano, sure, but this 180 is a BEAST by comparison. The 120 is big enough to be dangerous but the 180 will straight up injure people if handled wrong. I've been humbled (snapped the dang tail rotor on my first battery) and I will be spending a great deal of time in SAFE mode and developing my basic control skills from scratch.
"Small" he says. Pfft. Size is relative. Yeah, the 230/330 etc are huge by comparison, but my frame of reference is the Blade MSRx (fixed pitch, pre-Nano Blade heli).
"Don't get cut" yeah, I failed that already 😑with my first crash. Glad I didn't have carbon fiber blades on it. Left a nice welt on my stomach but taught me a valuable lesson for the small price.

They told me this morning that I could buy one from them, but it will come bundled with a dinky S120 charger. I already have a much higher capacity charger than the one they are trying to sell me. My guess is that they have a bunch of S120 chargers that they are desperately trying to get rid of....

@@marckjato check out the videos on my channel. I have on boxing radio set up as well as Flight video. I would highly recommend the 360 over the 330. For multiple reasons, number one the 330 is an older design. It actually is the same frame, servo layout and motor as the original blade 400 from 10+ years ago. It is not a bad helicopter but it is definitely outdated in terms of performance design. The 360 is just incredible! Hands-down the best model blade has ever made. Carbon fiber main frame incredible tail performance and authority with oversize tail boom. Perfect flight stabilization for the beginner to hard-core 3-D a little bit bigger blade diameter so you’re gonna get a little bit more of a floaty feeling model.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  ปีที่แล้ว

None of those, if you're totally new. They're AMAZING choices, but to be honest, I'd get a cheap one, and just learn the controls, then work your way up to one of them. IF you already know how to fly a FIXED WING PLANE or QUAD, you could start with Blade or Fusion...but the FW200 is too much help...it won't help you learn to fly, but it is AMAZING to see, and one of the few "Drone" heli's I would say is worth considering. HOWEVER, if you want to watch the amazing flight of a "Drone" type heli flight, why not get a "SCALE" looking one, like this - Coast Guard Heli - bprc.me/uscg_heli
Here's some "cheap ones" (RTF - Ready to Fly) that might save you a few bucks while you're learning...

I personally just picked up the Fusion 180s and own a gen 1 M2 OMP... From what other's I asked about the Infusion vs Fusion 180s belted, belted is better of the two.. I was told it's night and day hands down better from Coeshow619, man hes not joking... If you have a chance review M2 OMP it's a gen2 now but only skids are plastic over the gen1 carbon skids is the difference.. Gen1 M2s are not available anymore M1 I think is smaller some but I haven't tried it... The M2 and belted fusion 180s just a thought? Next heli up Brian??

Nice to get all the "necessary" tools in the box but uh, Horizon Hobby if you see this: those allen wrenches are almost worse than worthless. Too short, too awkward to get screws turning. Yes, they *can* get it done, but since 95% of the screws on the 180 Infusion are 1.5mm hex heads, why not just put a proper mini plastic handled hex driver in instead of the allen wrench? I had already ordered some nice, long-handled drivers from Dynamite which are worlds better than allen wrenches so it didn't matter too much for me, but still.

@@BrianPhillipsRC the M2 explore is the same price as this infusion including battery but the M2 v2 is like $100 more than this infusion. The new explore version has full metal head.
