    The Cycra Ultra ProBend hand guards are the best and easiest to install full wrap hand guards that I’ve tested to this point. I have tried a few different brands over the years and installed many, many of them on various dirt bikes that I’ve owned and even installed them on friends bikes too. The fit and finish of these Cycra guards are second to none. You get all the mounting hardware you need (assuming you order the right kit) and everything just works. There are enough flexible mounting positions to accommodate your specific situation. They come in many different colors for all the various bikes out there.
    Some guys won’t ride without full wrap around hand guards, while others won’t ride with them. The guys that don’t want to ride with them are worried about breaking their wrists/arms when crashing or getting tied up in the bars should their hands slip down between the bars and the guards. Certainly that can happen, but the flip side of that coin is that full wrap around guards tend to offer much better protection to your hands against hitting trees and other rocks. In short, they can keep you from breaking your fingers on hard things. Don’t ask me how I know! The full wrap guards also offer the most protection to your levers and handlebars. One thing to note it that is does make your bars more stiff and some riders don’t like that feeling, but it hasn’t bothered me to be honest.
    Special thanks to my $10/month patrons!

    Another great video Kyle! I've had cycra probend handguards on my 350 xcfw since day one! They have definitely saved the controls on more than one occasion!

    the biggest downside of every full wrap-around handguards is the risk of serious injury when ejecting forward, I stop using these kinds of guards since my last accident, it wasn't on high speed but the wrist was damaged because my hand stuck between handlebar and handguard. Now my setup is flex levers and mx-style guards. so far so good :)

      KristofSX I have considered going to flag type guards. Have you had any trouble hitting small trees or branches? Im worried about a small tree pushing the flag guard into my hand, or pressing the brake lever.

    • @KristofSX
      @KristofSX 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      im using KTM ones - they are mounted to clutch and brake pump, the plastic is stiff enough , it wont bend from hitting bushes or small trees ,no worries, the toughest ones I had are the older style guards for models 2007-2012 (the ones that Taddy Blazusiak is using).

    • @DirtBikeChannel
      @DirtBikeChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cycra makes a "rebound" guard that I have on my KTM 300. Tougher than a "flag" style and not as hard to get out of as the full wrap style. That is sort of the best of both worlds.

    Full wrap is mandatory for me! I got Cycras on my bike but these ones look cooler with the air vents. Acerbis seems pretty heavy duty too and for a cheap price on line, they just look a little funny with the "bubble" look...

    just some extra insight, I had a set of moose racing wraparounds (just the straight/flat (no bend) metal handguards with plastic shields) on my 2008 ktm 200. Every single time I dropped the bike at more than a stand still, the bars/wheel would become misaligned. I'm not sure if it was the handguards, or the bike (I doubt it was the bike as I got really sick of stopping and fixing my bars and over-tightend the shit out of everything up front) but on my 2014 250xc, I have the probends and the front wheel hasn't ever become misaligned. Again, could be the bike/setup, but It could also be the way the bend(in the hand guards) has the bars drag at a different angle (in a crash) and put leverage on different parts of the front end.

    • @teddyf9438
      @teddyf9438 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have also noticed that although the bend in the guard might save my front end from getting twisted, they do twist around my bars more easily.

    You need to cut the end of the throttle tube off because it wraps around the end of the bar. But for the proper clearance, just move the throttle down the bar a tad.

  • @yorkchris10
    @yorkchris10 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also stops lever activation when hitting things. Not so bad with clutch, but brake can be disruptive.

  • @Mark-jz4dz
    @Mark-jz4dz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have these and really like them. Very durable. The only complaint I have had is that they do expose the pinky just barely. I have had some trees hit my pinky finger, overall prefer the styling instead of having the protector all the way to the end of the bar.

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer styling too. So I bought a older 2014 front fender, and modified the rest of my 2019 YZ250 2-stroke plastic, so my bike does not look like Batman designed the plastic.

  • @EarthSurferUSA
    @EarthSurferUSA ปีที่แล้ว

    I just heavily modified a set of Cycra full wrap guards that are more compact, (do not clamp on the bar taper and can use the stock bar pad), clean looking, more rigid, (or can be adjusted to twist if you are worried about breaking your hand.), lighter, does not effect the bar dynamics (full wraps make the bars stiffer. Not mine.) From the front, they look like flag guards. I just finished them tonight and after some testing, I will offer the design to all the manufactures for 10 grand. First one to take the offer will make the best full wrap hand guards to date. Doug in Michigan

    these are great handguards. you don't have to shave the throttle tube though. just loosen the throttle mount and slide it far enough so it doesn't catch the bar end mounts. :)

    • @DirtBikeChannel
      @DirtBikeChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to cut the throttle tube off to get the hardware into the bar end on each application I have seen.

  • @FatHead970

    Would you do a comparison of these hand guards to the Acerbis X Factor hand guard? I ran The ProBend for years before trying the X Factor and I'm way impressed with the Acerbis. They lock into place with a slot to prevent them from spinning in a crash. They also come with a tapered bushing for fat bars that prevents the mount from slowly grinding its way through your bars and weakening them. Great video though!

    Backbend on the end isn't to get your hands out it is there to clear the lever when you pull it all the way in. Compare those against typical straight handguards and you'll see that lovers hit or be and a good lovers need to be cut off

    I've been going back and forth over replacing my Enduro Engineering/MSR/G2 style handguards with these...but man, at over $100 more than another set of EE's.....I just can't justify it. They look awesome....but $190 for a set of handguards is just kind of steep.

    • @Shecki603
      @Shecki603 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Polski MotoVlog I'm not a huge fan of the quality of the older ones....I've had a couple sets. The bar end mounts always loosen up (which it looks like they've fixed in this newer design) and the self tapping screws....they're just cheap. It seems like the new version is what the old version should've been, it's just priced too high. For $85 the EE's bar end mounts are rock solid, and the handguards themselves are more secure. The drawback is much less hand room and the mounting system up by the bar mounts aren't as nice with the EE's. But.....$85. So there's that I guess.

  • @ernief1879
    @ernief1879 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Will never buy these again. First fall and it bent over so far that my clutch lever was inoperable and had to complete remove it so I could ride my bike back to camp. And when I say fall, I don't mean i crashed, I climbed a sand hill and was making the turn to come back down but I dug into the sand on the turn and just let it fall. The aluminum just isn't strong enough. Its cheaper for me to replace clutch levers than these hand guards.
