I always find it stunning how such fast-paced genres like jungle and DnB can be crafted so as to evoke relaxing landscapes, either organic or futuristic or both at the same time.
The tempo has two levels to it.. The fast aspects.. and the slow steady flow that underpins it all.. I think in a lot of ways the slow steady aspect to it that underpins and is the foundation to the beat and vibe in Jungle comes from the Dancehall/Ragga Soundsytem Soundclash type of influences that were strong on the development of Jungle and what became Drum and Bass too (and hugely influenced what became the UK MC styles in the Raves and on Pirate Radio etc and developed through time into the Grime and Drill MC styles
Thats exactly the aspect that lends Psytrance its relaxing effects as well, its chords are slow and calm while the triple beat is on the higher BPM end, as it can be observed with this Breakbeat IDM/Jungle Hardcore mix as well!
Such a fantastic mix :) Couldn't agree more. The late 90's had so much to offer in terms of imagining a bright future for humanity. This music stands as a testament to that era. Stay happy and healthy everyone out there!
