I own a couple of DD and they are outstanding rifles. Fit, finish, accuracy are top tier and 2nd cool factor is a plus. They are a step up from my BCM’s for a little more money. Watch for sales and you can get both brands at a decent price. Thanks for your service. 👊🏼

I bought a DD MK18 pistol back when they were $1.4k shipped. They were one of the few legit ar pistol makers at the time.
If price were not a constraint wouldn’t mind picking a RIII upper to replace a bcm upper I have, standard mil-spec for a chf barrel would be an upgrade.

I own a DDM4A1 with RIII upper and a DDM4 PDW and love both of them. Stock triggers are only complaint but it's a common gripe with DD. The video was very helpful in field stripping and cleaning both as some of the steps weren't that intuitive in other videos. Thanks!

Most charging handles are going to be more worn on the right side because most shooters are right handed and when we charge the weapon from the left side, we have a tendency to pull back and to the right, so that side gets pushed into the receiver, leaving the other side clean. Opposite would happen for a Lefty.

I have the DD M4A1 RIS III rifle as well and love it! I will be adding a suppressor soon using the HUXWRX Flow 556K.. I noticed you pointed out the wear pattern on the charging handle. Mine has the same wear pattern on the Grip-n-Rip charging handle that was originally installed.. and the same on the Radian Raptor that is installed currently. No issues with it at all though.

@@Ultrarmx No, It will not. I had the flash hider that came with the M4A1 RIS III removed by a local gun gunsmith and have the HUXWRX Flash Hider QD-556 pin and welded in it place. The DD flash hider is not suppressor compatible. I wish the M4A1 RIS III came with a suppressor compatible muzzle device from the factory..

@@PezRacer $45 for removal of the factory installed flash hider, and $70 to reinstall (pin & weld) the new muzzle device. Again this was done by a local gunsmith.
If you don't have a local gunsmith that will do the work, I also recommend sending your upper to D. Wilson Manufacturing for the same service. $30 for removal and $60 for new pin and weld install. You also need to add whatever shipping cost that will be needed and insurance for the upper. He does a fantastic job with his pin and welds and everything he touches. 🤙

I have 3 DD rifles and they are all great!!! I’m picking up the M4A1 RIII but I’ll be putting the quad rail on it. I just want the ambi lower and I’ll use the rail for another rifle. The M4A1 looks great with the quad rail and I can’t bare a standard MLOK rail on the M4A1 that every rifle now has. It only saves you 6 ounce in weight with the MLOK rail.

I think that wear on the charging handle might be because of the way the charging handle pulls back. Seems like it puts a lot of pressure on that side if you pull it back using the left side. At least for me it doesn't slide back as smoothly nor unlocks as a Radian does when using just the left side to charge it so I changed mine to a Radian and it's much better. I also didn't like the trigger at all and changed that to a Geissele and so much better. All that being said I've had it for a few months and still haven't shot it. 😢

I always hated the DD furniture. That tire texture on the stock pulls beard hair or leaves road rash on the face. I have always skipped over DD rifles. They are very well built, but are on the high end price wise for what they offer. The hand guard lockup is solid, but you're paying for a lot of name recognition and military styling. Generally I have found you can get the same or better features and quality for less money. Not to say that DD builds a BAD gun, just not good enough to be worth ~2k when a BCM, SOLGW, or LWRC can be had for 1500 or less.

I got my DDM4 V7 LW based on a lot of good feedback about build quality and the TH-cam video of it surviving explosions, drops from a helicopter onto concrete, dragged by a truck, etc…
I had buyers remorse after everyone told me I spent too much and BCM is just as good for less.
After 5000 rounds and owning other models including BCM, I can say without question they are full of crap. DD’s are excellent and worth every penny.
Despite all that mine has been through it cleans up like new and runs like a beast. Accuracy isn’t as good as I expected (it’s a 1.5 MOA barrel at 100y), but it’s reliable and I’ve stayed on 5” steel at 400 yards for a mag dump, so it’s good enough
If I could, I’d own more - so worth it

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I think accuracy gets blown out of proportion for "fighting" rifles. 1.5 MOA is still a head-sized target beyond the effective range of the cartridge. If someone wants to punch groups on papaer from a bench they should be looking at a different build type anyways.

I have a DDM4V7... I also own about a dozen other ARs... Including a Super Duty.
I've yet to see a difference in an 900-1000 dollar AR, and a 2000 dollar AR, other than a name, and a price.
I don't for a second think that Daniel's Defense make a junk rifle... They're great guns... Just not sure how they justify the prices they ask. I guess it's just whatever people are willing to pay...

@@ckkevin9620 I'm right handed... I don't need, or wish to pay for ambi... And I wouldn't own a billet receiver- upper or lower.
They're not worth their asking price... I literally can get a top tier receiver for 120 bucks. Unless you just want to pay more, for no reason. I guess if you're impressed by a name, or features that's aren't important, then... By all means, I won't be mad if you buy 87... But you don't need to drop an extra grand to have a good AR. Period.
