I first came to Thailand backpacking when I was 24 years old for a 2 month trip then returned to Thailand when I was 32 to work and that turned into 25 years! I retired in Thailand when I was 55, as you can in Thailand. I'm also a NZer so have a similar view of Thailand as Steve.
Thanks for sharing Steve! My parents immigrated from Thailand to New Zealand when I was 3 years old. They sacrificed so much for me and my brother. We both have our degrees and good jobs. Now I am 25 years old and I want to move to Thailand. This video has made me even more keen.
Thanks for this video. My situation is similar to Paul Lee's in some ways. I didn't live in NYC, but in San Diego. I did the hustle and bustle, made my wealth, and now want to "chill". That's how I came across videos like this about Thailand. I'm planning to explore Bangkok and Koh Samui before deciding if Thailand is right for me. I'll probably sign up for Steve's running group since I like to stay fit.
This is my first time joining a TH-cam channel and supporting a TH-camr financially. I didn't hesitate to click submit because I know it's a way to support your channel and promote my country. Of course, I've also subscribed to Steve's channel. Keep up the great work of highlighting the positive side of Bangkok and Thailand.🤩
Running, Cold Plunge, Sauna, Breathwork, etc... is SO MUCH better than nightlife ! It's great to see that more and more people are thinking about their health and protecting their brains and bodies from aging, breaking down.
It is so awesome to see Hal Walker randomly! I haven't seen him in person in years and years but worked with him on a couple projects back in the day. He is just an authentic, kind, and amazing guy.
Been to Bangkok many times and back soon but one of the most refreshingly honest, down to earth and charming interviews on expat life...and great to see such enthusiasm versus the usual retiree whining! Followed Steve and hope channel a big success
Woooo Very in depth chill perspective and selective elements on bangkok session this one...and all your mates have different energy ..as always love love love ❤
Love your relax interview:) Sam. SoGlad to hear..... NZ isn't home now. Thailand is ... ❤Steve❤ And more health-oriented than alcoholic one is awesome way to us all.🎉😊😊
I've a problem. Bangkok is my favorite city for sure I but as a French living in Alps, I love skiing ... I think you understand that it will be complicated to do both
Thanks. Interview painted a "home away from home". For pom pom & commons, would you do 10d hotel there, then move to other hotels or would u do 30d in one hotel there? Goal: 1st timer seeking little sin-city, mostly quality-city. So helpful guys.
I agree with your advice to visit, perhaps more than once, instead of going all in and saying I am moving to Thailand. People go through phases here and you have no idea how you will cope with the changes you go through living here. I am a little surprised by you guys being such homebodies at your age. When I was in my 20s and 30s in Bangkok I only went home to sleep or change clothes. Gyms, squash courts, hotels lobbies, clubs and coffee shops, where I was a regular and known, were preferable to being alone at home. I second the idea of group activities and classes as a way of staying healthy and meeting like minded people. I do spend a lot of time at home these days but I am 70 now and live surrounded by rice paddies in Chiang Rai.
I finished my Year 12 in Melbourne and moved to Auckland, almost 11 years now and I'm also thinking of jumping back across the ditch or somewhere else 😂 NZ is not the same as it was in many aspects, but I suppose opportunity was never one too many hence the younger generations usually migrate overseas
With a surname spelt LIM, no mention of more in depth interaction with certain section of locals in certain language? Or visiting the temple next to The Cursed Mosque?
I like your content. 😊 I would recommend you to visit Dinso Rd. My favorite is “Nan Fah” restaurant and order noodle with roasted duck (60-70thb) this the best one 👌 or Rice topped with stir-fried duck and Thai basil (ข้าวกะเพราเป็ด)
I really enjoy your videos, thank you. I would love to check Thailand out on the 60 day extended visa to live as I have never been but I work online is that okay to do?
i'm wondering about these young people and their finance. How do they have the fun to support them long term? No family responsibilities? No bills? How do they find jobs in foreign countries?
Great interview, always confusing how to achieve a longer term visa.. is the education visa that easy to obtain / guaranteed. And of course coming from the West / UK we still need a sustainable remote income
Thanks Sam for interviewing fellow expats ..good to hear their experiences too! @imstevelim dont be ashamed of your power bill, for a studio in a newer condo i touch 2k thb...my parents are shocked cos we never paid that much for a huge bangalow in India so far! 😅 And a year in the same condo I havnt stepped into the gym or used the fancy pools(3 of em)!! Aah i saw some runners on a sunday few weeks go at the park ..must be the sabai run..will try to come say hi next time 🙏
"I don't go to the gym." " You are so lucky. You must have a high metabolism. I wish I was like that." I love it !!😂😂😂 It's got nothing to do with - " I normally go boxing every morning." ( if he isn't skipping there every morning - I will eat my hat) or '" The running club I started, because I like to run meets twice a week." " I drink alchohol every 3mths or so." 😂😂😂
Sam!! Thanks for having me on my friend! Always a pleasure seeing ya ☀️☀️
Likewise! See you at the Sabai run club soon 👀
Could I make friend with you😊😊❤❤
You are so cute, bro 🥰

OMG Steve is so gorgeous 🔥
8:55 "kan" is a Lao Reed Mouth Organ, also known as the "แคน" and is a traditional instrument from Laos and northeastern Thailand.
👏🏻
Thank you 🙏.
The instrument called 'CAN' you can say it like the word can. It's kinda like a harmonica with pipe organ mix together.

Love your relax interview:) Sam. SoGlad to hear.....
NZ isn't home now.
Thailand is ... ❤Steve❤
And more health-oriented than alcoholic one is awesome way to us all.🎉😊😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
BKK had a reputation as a crazy place way before the movie " Hangover ". As someone who has been coming to Thailand over 40 yrs.
You both are most welcome, hope you enjoy living in Thailand :)
Great Interview Sam as allways. Plenty of good content xxxxx❤🎉❤🎉😊
Thanks ❤️
You two convinced me to follow you on YT. 😊❤️ I wish I could come to Thailand, but I'm not brave enough....
Go for it!💙

I would definitely go for the first option and split it into different hotels or airbnb
I actually live across the Hudson River from NYC near the George Washington Bridge. But I'd like to try Bangkok!
Both are very handsome..

The music instrument is called Can “แคน“ like you say “Can” not Cayenne 😊 this Can from Esan (Northeastern) region of Thailand
Thanks for the info! 😁
Precursor to church organ, invented by none other than Mother Goddess of the Hua Xia Civilization.
Nice🎉
Thanks!

"So for me, New Zealand isn't home, Thailand is home" 💘💘

I think Steve's face look like Thai man and Chinese who was born in Thailand . If Steve can speak Thai well nobody know he's from aborad

😄😄
I thought Steve would recommend DJ station or GOD😮
Obviously that guy is going to like Thailand because he totally blends in naturally with the locals and gets mistaken as one of them.😂
