- We drove past this place on the way to another explore and thought we'd have a look to see if we could get in. Don't know anything about the place other than that it's for sale or let but was definitely worth a look. There was a very unexpected fireplace in the main living room, hand carved and beautiful and a door in the floor leading to a cellar. hope you like the video and see you in the next one.

Lovely old place that could be fixed up love that carved fireplace well I liked them all really and I have seen the cellars in the floor in lots of old farm houses.
When farmers were rich they needed a safe to keep their money in you can't say that today because they don't enough to live properly like they used to great find by accident well done both .
I do enjoy a cottage to explore id love to own and live in one.The fireplace was amazing and i would live there in a heartbeat ❤ great find guy's xx

This is still in pretty good condition. Looks like it may have been a horse farm and the other little cottages were for the trainers to live while they worked there. They are not in bad condition.
That one wooden framed fireplace is just beautiful, bet its hand carved.

Very interesting..fireplace was amazing..however Rob was correct it was a stand for a aspidistra , the Victorians used them to raise their very precious plants so those outside could see ...the more plants in one room the more the wealthier they looked x

2:57. I think your in the laundry and the two round brick stands are called coppers. Sheets and bedding were washed in these mainly. 4:31 could be the slaughter room all jokes aside Claire. 😂 8:16 I think the photos are from there as the lady is sitting in one of the chairs we saw earlier. Beautiful place it would clean up easily and be able to be restored to its former glory.
I am amazed that such a property has been allowed to fall into dereliction. That room with the Indian carved chimney piece is nice. What Robert thought was a soldier is, I think, an Indian woman with a water pot balanced on her shoulder. The wallpaper is similar to a William Morris style damask wallpaper. William Morris was a textile and decor designer, famous for his part in the Arts & Crafts revival. If you look at Morris wallpapers online you’ll see what I mean. It’s a wonder someone hasn’t stolen that fireplace and surround. It’s incredible that someone hasn’t bought that place cheap to renovate as a large family home. What a shame. Maybe the noise from the nearby road puts people off.
Thank you for your comment. I agree about the fireplace, what a beauty! I had no idea about the wallpaper so thank you for that and I'll look that up. The whole farm is up for sale/ lease so hopefully someone will make good use of this place.

I loved the old tack room, completely original with really nice fireplaces. I thought the carved fireplace in the bungalow was amazing if a tad out of place in such a basic looking place, in fact I'm surprised it's still there! I think that might have been a coal shute in the cellar. Interesting, I guess the site is ripe for development and the bungalow will be demolished at some point.
It's great that these old places still exist isn't it? As for the buildings, they're up for sale or rent so who knows what'll happen to them but I hope they make good use of that lovely fireplace!
So the first room you went into was a tack room and the hanging hook would have been where they hang the bridle on whilst cleaning it. I must say, I wouldn’t want to keep my horses so close to what must be a very busy major road. Is the road new, or widened in recent years ? Maybe the premises were compulsory purchased or the occupier given compensation
Wish you would have shown the stables for the horses. I'm an older horse owner from the USA.
