364000 shards going in the bin. In theory getting enhacement shards from legendary drops might be a viable conversion too. But since those are mostly from engrams anyway, and my vault is nearly full as it is, I feel like cores and phantasmal fragments might be the only way to go.

Between the 735 raid banners and (currently around) 231 essence, I feel like I'm set for glimmer droughts already, and I still haven't carved a big enough hole in my legendary shards to feel comfortable. Who knew my good savings habit from playing the game naturally would turn around from shards to glimmer in the end, huh?

I'm not going to spend too aggressively now, like I'll get the prisms and alloy every week. I am going to wait until the end of the season to really have at my pile because if the complainers get loud enough Bungie might add some sort of conversion
There won't be a conversion. Bungie is doing this because the shard disparity between players is so out of whack they cant balance costs to be meaningful. A conversion would just shift the problem somewhere else.

Since I’m farming gms currently and I’m basically always max ascendant shards/prisms. I pull blue armor from collection and turn prisms/legendary shards into enhancement cores (which I have less than a stack of currently)
I've already maxed out in several of those items and still have over 20K shards. I'll probably get hit hard w/ this decision. Bungie should raise caps and convert shards for us.
I still have almost 500 Raid Banners, 'cuz that's what I end up burning Glimmer on when that credit score is maxed out, so... I'm good on that. Always need cores and Alloys, so I'll invest in those.
All of these are good options for getting rid of you Legendary Shards but Bungie should allow us to at least convert them to glimmer. We shouldn't be punished just for having a lot of shards.

If you're talking about phantasmal fragments,then I think you should have enough vault space tbh. They stack up to 999,so you would only need about 11 slots in your vault to convert and store all your legendary shards as the fragments. If it's something else you're talking about,not sure.
Just want to point out that you can also use 10 legendary shard to buy 10,000 glimmer right there at Rahool in the 'Curios' section, which is much more efficient than the lectern.
I hate Bungies reasoning for removing shards is because it feels grindy for new players like glimmer isn't the most annoying currency grind while being the easiest to run out of.

I'm always in the 2-4k legendary shards range. I've been playing D2 since day 1 and it's been my main game ever since playing it daily. How the hell do people have so many legendary shards like wtf am I doing wrong lol
I've accumulated shards currently almost 32k without the farm glitches. By just sharding legendary weapons and armor drops, crucible, zavala, drifter engrams (99 and above each) and other ritual tables plus season passess is guaranteed 3k in my experience per season. 😅
They have one set of fully maxed armor with high stats that they use every single time they play for months on end. Everything else just gets sharded. You can grind about a thousand in ~3 days at 8 hours a day if you delete everything you get.
I once used the legendary shards glitch to get ~50k. I’m currently at 30k. So Id be Hella broke without these glitches. A friend of mine sits on 55k and he never used any shard glitches. He barely masterworks new stuff/basically never target focus loot.
The glimmer cap is the real issue here. It's the scummiest, most anti-fun, anti-consumer thing ever. I 100% agree shards need to be removed but Glimmer cap needs increased and needs to drop WAY MORE. I have friends who quit because of it. The awful Light level system, upgrade modules, upgrading armor, decoding weapons, buying bounties with glimmer they don't have so they use shards, the list goes on and on. This trials week alone I anticipate spending over 5k shards just for a single weapon, it's ludicrous. We already have to grind for engrams for hours on end and then they sprinkle glimmer cost on top. You roll ten weapons/engrams and then you have to run back to Rahol and spend a pointless amount of time buying glimmer and then going back to the vender and repeat. All so they can show SONY and investors that players are heavily invested in their game they put zero love and care into and that they should just make other games for a larger profit.
Honestly, I’m buying the enhancement cores just because it alone is 10K shards that I can spend.
Don’t buy use the prism to enhanced converter and u get more for the amount of shard u spend

What do fragments do?
They are for quests for weapons on the Moon with Eris. Old Shadowkeep campain. And you can convert them into glimmer.@@subzero4190295

I've been buying raid banners and leveling up my crafted weapons. Crafted weapons use glimmer and I turn in shards for glimmer.

considering you can use enhancement cores now to level up crafted weapons, buying cores seems pretty solid
64k shards for me, 99% of which I gained while asleep from the midnight oil blue armor set bug a year ago

Glimmer has a max cap. Also, once legendary shards are gone you can use your phantasmal fragments to get glimmer.
