The technical term for this bug is a "Prompt Swap." They exist in several games, most notably Dark Souls Remastered, and they require frame perfect inputs, which is why slowing down your fps and connection helps you pull it off.
Doesn't surprise me that this exists, skating is just exploiting the fact Destiny has no input buffering. There's probably more bugs like this out there.
If anyone played fallout 4 they might remember when people did this in weapon crafting where they turn a 10mm pistol into a mini nuke launcher with same frame perfect swap when select method
While testing this I found another cool thing regarding this bug: when you transfer a perk from one weapon type to a different weapon type, the end result will be a perk that inherits properties of the former weapon type. For example: if you transfer Enhanced Kinetic Tremors from a sniper rilfe to the auto rifle, Kinetic Tremors will still proc in just 2 shots, like it would on a sniper rifle. And this applies to absolutely all perks that have different functionalities depending on a weapon type, like subsistence ammo regen or Demo/Pugilist ability regeneration values (they give 20% on special weapon/10% on primaries.)

For next gen console users, try connecting to a hotspot with your console and computer and load a bunch of twitch streams or something while attempting the glitch.
I wrapped TINFOIL arnd my phone and threw it across my house, then connected 3 different devices running 15 Fortnite streams and a game each, I pull out my Xbox ONE X and it gets laggy so bad. And still doesn't work🫨
Update finally got it once. I click the exotic, disconnect mobile data, click the legendary, reconnect. If you fail you gotta reload destiny every time though
some tips/fun facts: when on 30fps trying to get difficult to reach tabs, you can actually input a couple directions FIRST before clicking the first weapon to help reach the second gun faster and simpler ie, when going to put shotgun frame on mg, I do d > s > click > s > click instead of needing to click shotgun then inputting all 3 directions rapidly despite you moving tabs, it will still register the first thing you have highlighted secondly, not only can you steal another gun's column 3/4, you can also steal barrel/mag perks, like putting assault mag on non shotguns

Yours was the best video about trying to make this crafting glitch happen; I wanted to add some things in case people have issues like I did. Like you, I thought "reshape" versus "shape" was much easier since you get to control where the target and destination weapons appear. Also, have each weapon on your character--BUT NOT EQUIPPED--and make sure they are not "locked". Also, in Video Settings, besides setting "Framerate Cap" to 30, I also found thatyy I got this to work most easily by cranking my "Resolution Density" all the way up to 200 from the default of 100. This made this work the most easily for me.
I got it to work twice in 5 minutes after I turned on every wifi device in my house and made it download something or stream a video in high quality. Im on series X
Did Nezarec, Ir Yut and Crota today. Found out about this also today. The former two already have stupidly low health pools, but still: watching their health just fucking plummet into nothingness reminded me of whenever I used the Monarch or Flaming Hellwalker from Borderlands 3 against the Graveward with FL4K’s special ability, and just watch the boss melt into literal nothingness in seconds.

One thing that I found very helpful for applying this is loading a different destination then re-loading the enclave. Couldn't get it for 30 mins on wifi with a twitch stream and steam download going, but was able to get it 4-5 times within a few attempts after loading a different destination then re-loading enclave.
Just fyi, but perks like triple tap, fttc, focused fury, etc, are bugging too especially when fused with a shotgun frame, giving infinite ammo and instant activation. I made a shotgun cataclysmic with fttc and it refunds 6 ammo if all 12 shots land 😂
along with that it bugs out damage. I tested it on ecthar with just aggressive frame auto and I dealt 4 mil damage but only looked like I shot him with a base ass auto
Another silly one that's not like ridiculous but still fun is adding cranial spike from dmt to transfiguration with rewind rounds kinetic tremors. You get some extra precicision and it slightly ups the tremors damage too
I don't play destiny 2 but I watched out of pure curiosity, It's a pretty cool glitch I imagine being able to hand pick perks you could remake the Fatebringer from D1 into D2 I had so much fun with that pistol & damn it was a grind to get.

He literally explains it in the video. Go to reshape any aggressive frame shotgun, hit reshape and then quickly swap to the linear of choice and mash reshape again. Lower fps and slow internet helps.
I found it super easy to do while capping frames at 30 and installing Forza Horizon 5 at the same time. (Also, make sure your first click is the shotgun and the second click is the weapon you want to shoot like a shotgun.) I was able to get a shotgun bullet spread on a sniper. This instantly kills a Guardian in their Super because it shoots 12 sniper bullets instead of 1.
I can't, for the life of me, get an aggressive frame on the Austringer. I know it's possible because I just got wrecked by it. How in the actual F do they click the shotgun and click a,s,s, click within the millisecond you have to get it to work?

I noticed that if the two wepons you are transferfing perks from have a same perk and you choose that perk it costs you currency to add it to the weapon
I opened Apex Legends and went into training with maxed seetings on both games and locked D2 to 30 fps and managed to make a commemoration with aggressive frame. It's very fun hahaha.
So my guess to why this happens is they have it so the frame of the weapons acts as a mod/perk. Makes me curious as to how they are gonna fix this. If my guess is right, they would have to change the weapon frames to be a static thing.
FOR ALL THE PEOPLE HAVING TROUBLE HERES SOME TIPS - cap fps - download and or open games in the background - if you’re on console the cursor is very slow so stick w/ either same weapon types (auto to auto) or cursor free combos (like shotgun to auto or shotgun to heavy GL) - lastly you want to press A or left click on the starting weapon (to begin the blackout animation) then swap to the other weapon BEFORE you spam as hard u can. If you try to spam off rip before you even hover over the 2nd weapon it won’t take. This bug is insane. Shotgun Firefright w/ enhanced rewind and frenzy goes BRRRRRRRR
I highly doubt Bungie will let this stay, because this is too ludicrous. However, I'd think this would be a great addition for Final Shape as something you unlock after beating the Raid. Also, has anyone tried this with Rocket Launchers? Preferably a Precision Frame one for the homing

A heavy gl with aggressive frame easily one phases grasp’s ogre with a few bullets to spare

I highly doubt Bungie will let this stay, because this is too ludicrous. However, I'd think this would be a great addition for Final Shape as something you unlock after beating the Raid.
Also, has anyone tried this with Rocket Launchers? Preferably a Precision Frame one for the homing
They certainly won't let it stay, but they've stated that they're going to take their time to fix it and they aren't going to disable trials this weekend
And of course, this happens when I'm on a business trip, meaning it will be fixed before I can even try it.

wait but how exactly do you know when it worked? aside from checking the frame every time.. because you did two auto rifles both rapid frame but you knew right away when it worked so im definitely missing something. please help i wanna try XD i got it to work but for some dumb reason i used a slug frame on an auto rifle and saw zero difference haha
