Looks like you need to put a slide over the top 3 spikes. Saw is to fast for dogs😂. Hey any advice on reed saw port timing? My brother gave me a little cs3000 echo reed saw right before he passed. The top of the transfers are black and it seem to be an awful short blowdown just by looking through the exhaust port haven't put a wheel on it yet. I'd try out my intake manifold idea but even if it worked couldn't use it unless I put dogs on the air filter😅. Mike Acres site has the cs3000 and a few other little echo saws listed as piston port. I don't know if anybody is still updating the site. If the carb is on 1 end and the sparkplug on the other its not a piston port:)

I have been thinking about an idea for reed saws that might have some merit. Reed saws without a pipe are at a disadvantage compared to piston port saws. I was thinking that installing a tube between the carb and reeds might be advantageous. My thought is get a column of air moving and the inertia might keep the reed(s) off the seat a smidgen longer. A velocity stack before the carb might have some effect but seems to me that the fuel and oil should add some inertia. Don't know if you have ever tested this or want to test it but thought I would run it by you.

Are you thinking about something like a boost bottle that is available for the Yamaha banshee?

@@Smittyschainsaws Well I was thinking a straight tube between the carb and reed. Just setting the carb back a ways and say your throat is 16mm put a 16mm tube in to reconnect the carb to the reed block. A boost bottle gives you the volume but I don't think it uses the inertia of the column of air. It doesn't need to, the signal from the pipe is orders of magnitude stronger.
