She expected to see Finns like americans as they are in pop culture in Finland. Thats how they see western people in South Korea.

That's the thing that we Finns are kinda mix of east and west. After getting into Asian drama, I only realized how much it is actually true when it's said that Finland is between east and west. Finding just as much common in those than from UK /us tv shows. 😊

We also usually feel very comfortable when we don't say nothing at all. I can be in a cafeteria with my friend, sit in a table opposite to him or her, watch outside of the window - and either one of us says a word for a minute or two. It's like being on a trance or hypnosis for a while. It feels like a soothing moment of tranquility. It's an unspoken spontaneous action, where you share a moment of comfortable silence with your friend. You give your friend a moment of peace, silence and happiness - instead of demanding constant superficial small talk. That's how we show respect.

SoulofSol has made some lovely traveling Vlogs when she returned to Finland. You might find Daiki Yoshikawa's channel interesting also. He's a Japanese person living in Finland. He has made videos about cultural similarities and differences between Japan and Finland.

Others live like the masses, but Finns live as they see fit.
If there is nothing to say, then there is no need to ask about the weather, etc., either it is raining, it is cold or both.

idk if we finns are so honest really, yes we dont say nice things if we dont mean them but we also dont say if we disagree with something or we dont like somebody because its "rude"
also our language is mostly non-verbal so its very difficult to know if someone hates you or is just having a bad day, i have personally struggled with this since childhood and it has impacted negatively to my self-esteem, we also have a lot of shame and have even specific word for feeling shame for someone else "myötähäpeä" its like combination of shame "häpeä" and compassion "myötätunto" and thats because we have a lot of unwritten social rules one should follow to not to be looked down by others but nobody ever really talk about this, if you finn and you disagree with this opinion please tell me why

Lot of this is not actually true. Finns like it when people smile to them and talk to them. It's just that young finns reject it. It has allways been the case. Young finns don't sit next to you in a bus, even if the bus is full. They would rather stand. Older people might prefer not sitting next to you, but they will sit next to you if necessary. The reason for not sitting next to you is, that it makes the other person more difficult to leave the bus. Somehow younger people allways go over the top with the social norms. Many people think young generation want's to be rebels and break social norms, but in my experience it's the other way around. Older people love it when you speak and smile to them, aslong as you don't bother them too much.
