The halberd weapon type is honestly the absolute best balance of power, speed, and range, by which I mean all are exceptionally high.
The regular halberd in Dark Souls is stupid good. Out damages most greatswords but with better range and speed. And it's found very early in the game.
The only downside is poise damage = 30 in 2hr1
Which is equal to a straight sword, spear, and curve sword 2hr1
This was filled with scholarly conversations. The image of Morgot pulling out a book to call me a specific slur will forever be burned in my mind.
48:20 “I don’t understand why people don’t like the bed of chaos”
Also Quits out after every phase to replay the best part. xD
I actually did a casual playthrough yesterday and didn't quit out at all because of another comment like this. I genuinely think I liked the fight more like that, but I don't usually do it because it takes longer lol. Same reason I use good weapons instead of a broken straight sword. Just cause I like the fights doesn't mean I don't like the rest of the game :3
I loved your video, and your style. :)
I personally quit out that fight every time, bc I unironically love doing the slide and I am not good enough to dodge. Hahaha. This kind of little cute tech is part of what makes these games so fun for me.
i mean i do agree with you that marika wouldnt be transphobic but also she does very much exterminate racial minorities. repeatedly even. so i dont think it's correct to say she isnt bigoted. but yes mogh is a chaser
A gilf chaser.
I was going to say the same thing they committed multiple ethnic and racial genocides so…
Another thing that really bothers me about Elden Ring is that questlines work identically to how they work in the other games. I’ve always thought it was annoying how easy it is to screw up questlines in Fromsoft games, but it’s waaaaay worse in Elden Ring because it’s so god damn huge. Whoops you missed this one guy hidden inside a tiny crevice on this gigantic map. You killed some random boss and now you’re permanently locked out of everything that questline has to offer. You’d think going your own route would be encouraged in an open world game but the quest design continuously punishes you for doing exactly that.
I had no idea where Boc was until they updated the range that he calls out from lol
I have the exact opposite problem. I was able to get to having the final boss defeated, and was still able to go and do every "choose your ending" quest from start to finish, after beating the last boss. Seems like they are hard to mess up
I remember making a level 30 Watchdog invader who used the Glaive, solely because I'd never seen anyone talk about it. The moveset was unlike any I'd ever used, as my previous jaunts through DS1 and 3 had stuck to the classic sword in one hand, magic/fire/shield in the other. My ability to learn on the fly would be put to the test by fire in PVP.
I don't consider myself particularly good at PVP, but over the course of six hours, I learned how to consistently combo, rollcatch, and work the Glaive. That damned thing is a MENACE; the amount of rollcatch chains I got with it was absurd. I quickly became Glaivephilic. Loving the Glaive became my entire personality.
I'm also the type of person who'll take a 20 AR loss to use the Morning Star over the Mace, because bleed is my favourite status in DS3. The mind games you can pull with it are where I thrive. Imagine my surprise when Elden Ring rolls around, and I find a halberd that has the Glaive moveset WITH BUILT-IN BLEED. I then proceeded to use that for the entire game (except Malenia), from start to platinum, all on a blind playthrough.
My love for the Glaive family cannot be understated!
You should definitely do more of this. Hearing you talk is nice
the one thing i find to be the worst with ds3 level design is how it feels like sometimes there are too many bonfires. for example: the archive bonfire that is approximately a 10 second walk from the dragonslayer armor bonfire. possibly the most redundant bonfire in the entire series.
I'd love to see more of these kinds of vids :) I cant catch the streams and just having a long dark souls vid to watch is always welcome
We can't forget about the Black Knight Halberd!
omg 1h and 5 minutes of pure entertainment, love it!
I love this style of video and would love to see more! Lurking on streams is one of my favorite pastimes, so this style is perfect imo
I have the exact opposite list of game likes as you do but you do make some good points, very entertaining video in general! Keep it up!
Love this format, hope to see more in this style!
girl make anything and lemme hear you talk. thats it. also your streams happen when im at work so this is a pretty good time for me thank you:3
another banger
This video is something I've always wanted to see so if u do it with other weapons it I'll be terrific
Great opening clip 😂
Edit: on rewatch, I noticed that you did in fact hit capra demon, doing insanely little damage.
Yeah, +0 short sword isn't great T_T
1:14 I got the BK Sword on my first playthrough too and it carried me through the whole game. Made the run a lot of fun.
I got it too on a playthrough recently and decided to use it throughout the entire game, it was so fun and super strong
I loved the stream while I was there, 100% do more of this love
55:40 Well, you see, we have to mix it up occasionally.
It’s also really ironic and so makes people laugh
You should definitely do more vids like this!
So since U made that stream a video will you make the ricards rapier stream a video?
It depends on the response to this one. So far it's looking like a yes, though :3
i've beaten ds1 with knight's starting equipment all the way through, broadsword's shortness was a bit of a hassle sometimes.
Broadsword is one of my favorite straight swords, actually. I'd rather use it than, like, Astora's lol
I’m a big fan of this kind of video format
Out of my hundreds of hours playing Dark Souls games I don't think I've ever used a halberd.
The stream was really fun! Thanks
Also got to know trevthedev, he's a pretty nice person
I saw a TH-cam video describing best weapons in Dark Souls 1 and he ranked the Great Scythe the best weapon. You also say that it’s top tier, so I’m gonna have to do a run trying it out. I love Op weapon runs, these games are about being OP and breaking everything right?
I remember the Great Scythe as being incredibly clunky and awkward to use, since it has the miss-drawback from halberbs with a wonky moveset haha
I honestly also love becoming OP in Dark Souls, it's fun to make the game your own.
If you're wanting to use an actual scythe instead of a bardiche called a scythe, I personally prefer the lifehunt scythe, but the great scythe is still pretty good if you don't want to deal with making yourself bleed
I enjoy all ur videos keep making videos
3:24 relatable
Just coming back to say Primarina is (as the kids say) exquisitely based. She's my favourite Water starter, and if I had to, like, life-or-death HAD TO, it would be an honour.
But MAN-SERPENTS?? Even disregarding the "man" part (hehe), that's gonna require some god-tier Saul Goodman-ass defense! I get the coiling thing, but do you _know_ how high-maintenance a reptile partner would be?? You've got to keep them in 90°+F temperatures so they don't develop hypothermia, which has the unfortunate side effect of turning your home into a damned SAUNA. The shared body heat excuse doesn't even work most of the time, because y'all are gonna have separate jobs, family gatherings, and life appointments. What happens when they have to get up and go to the bathroom in the middle of the night? Do they just drag you along and disturb your sleep? As cute as it may seem, CUDDLING WILL NOT SOLVE THIS ISSUE PERMANENTLY.
These are VERY important points of contention here!!
It doesn't have to be a permanent thing, one night, you know? But even as a partner, I think it would be pretty great. Waking up in the middle of the night is fine, that happens with humans, too. Also, Rya is a man-serpent, but not a man, so like... I could adapt to the heat, I'll be fine.
also, primarina definitely wouldn't have to be life or death for me.
@@solarpellets Humans do the midnight bathroom shuffle as well, aye, but I'd imagine most of them don't have to _untangle_ themselves from their partners (unless they're just that happy to be there lol). Even then, keeping the heat up has got to be a miserable experience, and I say this as someone who's spent eight years in the Sunbelt with no AC. I will say that Rya can use her human form to make some things easier whenever you go out. Plus, the back hunch is undeniably adorable.
All this ds2 talk. Ima need some ds2 content now please. I love ds2 and the challenge runs you've bin doing.
I have a couple planned but they're gonna take a while. I'd love to do some quicker DS2 content, but I'm really not sure what to do. Yazmania kinda cornered the market for just doing random builds lol
@solarpellets I love his videos too! I try to watch as much ds2 content as my brain can stand lol it holds a special place in My heart
Its nice to know theres more trans players around you are nice to listen to and fun to watch you sound very sweet
48:15 could you elaborate on this
I think the bed of chaos is fun. It's gimmicky, sure, but it's not like it's unfair or inconsistent or whatever. It's one of my favorite gimmick bosses in the series.
@@solarpelletsIt’s both unfair and inconsistent wtf are you talking about. Why do you think the only consistent way to beat it without dying or quitting out is by cheesing it with a bow?
@@rigorm136 I've beat it hitless without a bow or quitting out so many times, it's just easier to use them. Same reason I failed to cheese Capra then beat it first try anyway lol
I watched your literally nothing video
I dont know what to feel about that
It was gigachad😊
Greatsword is a massive slab of metal lol
🔴👹🗡️
Can you beat dark souls with the great knife.
She never misses
HE IS A SHE?????? WHAT??????
More content, good.
I see that you too also suffer from the blessing/curse of the stray demon only doing AOE and butt slams lol
If you want me to dislike you, you're going to
have to step your game up. So far you are
charming AF. You're slacking. I am disappoint.🤣
I don't think Sen's skip is a good time to explain why ds3's linearity is a problem.
You only need to kill two bosses to enter Sen's, I could've done that in, like, 20 minutes tops before entering Sen's, I just wanted to use the weapon a little more lol
@@solarpellets NG+ exists if you want to use a weapon for the entire game
@@FRealw27026 ng+ has drastically different scaling, it's genuinely not comparable.
My favorite weapon type is probably hammers. Accessible all throughout the game, simple scaling, moderate attack speed and high poise damage and blunt (sometimes pierce damage). Maybe I'm a bit biased since I was pretty faithful (no pun intended) to a Cleric build my first playthrough. My favorite hammer is probably the Pickaxe. I know Warpick is better but it just has the generic Hammer moveset whereas the Pickaxe has higher motion values and slower / more impactful R2s. Also I can name my character Steve.
I've actually been wanting to try the Grant, but I don't think I've casually used any hammers all the way through the game. I'll have to give them a shot!
@@solarpellets For great clubs, I would recommend a Large Club (drops from Infested Barbarians) as it has the best strength scaling of all the blunt weapons and the 1-handed moveset has a crazy fast lunge with a massive hitbox, at the cost of slightly shorter range. It also has poison proc. Doesn't Grant have a special R2 attack that works like WOTG? I can't remember if that's correct or not.
@@Dr-Sex yeah, it's wog but it takes a ton of durability. Still a cool weapon, though.
