Fun thing about the trunk is that when you use it, all Sims on the lot change as well. I used to throw huge parties and invite the entire town to my Sim's house then make everyone change into a specific type of costume for a themed party.
omg I LOVED the costume box in sims 1! there was something very cool about it. when you start a party, in the moment your guests enter the house, USE this box and all other sims will also wear the costumes you choose!
The Sims 1 had the craziest descriptions for things. The elephant mask one was deep. I love the costume trunk for themed parties! Decorate with the straw bale tables and keg furniture, crank up the country music, get the mechanical bull, and then dress everyone in western garb. Tiki party with all the tropical furniture and decor and dress everyone in the beachy costumes. I never knew that speaker did anything. I always thought it was a decor piece and always wondered why it was with the stereo section in buy mode.
In the vanilla version of the game, when you use the phone, the Sims' faces also appear because in the base game the 'call' menu is the same as the mailbox. Of course, with the expansions the menu changed making the mailbox the only one to have that feature lol I've been playing a lot of the vanilla version, it's so cool to compare how much the game changed from the beginning!
I think the oversight with the perpetual motion machine is actually intentional, since a perpetual motion machine in our world would break the laws of physics. So being able to place one in a wall might be an intended nod / easter egg to that.
Oh my I'm shocked at number one! I played Sims 1 quite a lot so I remembered most of these but I had no idea about some of these little details and fun facts. Cool video! I love TS1.
Another possibility is it just appears in the recipient's inventory. I've send lots of postcards on my sims vacations but I've never checked to see they were received. I hope I remember to check that when I play Sims 1 again.
The telephone menu in the pre-Hot Date engine also has the Sims' faces popping up when you hover over their name. It was replaced with the phone book pop-up after Hot Date and presumably they re-used the code for the Vacation mailbox.
The PMM is not the only object in TS1 that rotates wrong. Many decorative objects mirror themselves when rotating, one of them even loses quality in some angles...
Im not sure is a mistake the last item, because a perpetual motion machine, it's impossible by what we know of the laws of physics, so i think it's more of a refence to the fact that it breaks the laws of physics, i could be wrong. Also nice, i didn't remember any of this 9 items with exception of the postcard... But that's because i love vacation :P
It would be cool if Sims would receive a postcard and perhaps then hang it on a fridge, but unfortunately postcards are only an interaction for the sender, so to speak.

i remembered a couple of them but the rest were totally new to me!
My favorite thing to do was read EVERY description for EVERYTHING when I got a new expansion pack. The humor in Sims 1 was so unmatched.

I would not have guessed that you can send postcards to actual sims, that's so nice :D And the speaker sound is so cool too!
25 years in counting, I still love The Sims 1.
If you throw a house party and 'wear costume' with the costume trunk while guests are present, they will all go to the trunk and change.

I love the items in The Sims 1 and their descriptions so much! :)
I used the costume trunk for parties
maybe it just takes a couple of days for the letter to arrive

that item not having collision is bonkers! i wonder if they had more visuals to it that just weren't included?
I love this Perpetual Motion Machine! The animation they done with it is pretty cool though.
I loved all the little details and descriptions, always laughed a bit. I forgot a few of them, thank you for a great video! 😊

I don't remember the $1 Civic Stump, but come on, the other stuff is iconic. Especially the fish tank. 🐟

I love your videos, you deserve so much more attention.
Fire alarms, toilets and, of course, ladders.
Ooo I loved the vacation pack but never knew about the postcards! That's cool!

When you get home, your Sim will place the mask on the lot and then you can go to Buy or Build Mode and place it on a wall.
The unfinished object…maybe it improves fun if the sim is a Child?
nice video!
is this an invitation to create another house with all of these items tar
Yes, now there are 18 items to choose from 🤣
you know he might just make videos with the items he'd like to include in the build from now on 👽
here from the email notification let's GOOOOOOOO
GOATji!
