National treasure and hero. Those that wanted to listen heard John report Saville’s crimes and abuses decades before anybody else. And the establishment silenced him. We should all support his Alzheimer’s charity and his tree planting in Ireland. He’s a good man ✌️

Where did he report about Savile? All I can find is him telling us after Savile was outed as a pedo in 2014?, saying he told everyone back in the 70's and 80's.
He's got my support my Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's months ago.

"Never Mind the Bollocks" was one of the best albums ever recorded. Ground breaking and truly meaningful. Music that really did change, and accurately reflected, society.

I was at the Huddersfield Xmas day gig in 77 and many people don't see the compassionate side of John. We entered the venue, Ivanhoe's, on the evening after the Pistols threw a special Xmas party for the striking firemans kids. Kinda of surreal seeing all the half eaten aluminum wrapped sandwiches when the evening gig started. However, it was an amazing night. I recall before the concert started John was on the DJ stand spinning Reggae tunes which for some reason I didn't expect. A precious night I will never forget.
Johnny is fantastic.Such a talented guy.Stands up for what he believes in and goes against the grain if necessary.Really admirable.

I more or less said the same thing in a previous comment. I thought he was quite scary back in the 70’s. Now I see that I totally misunderstood him.
He’s a great guy who just happens to be very opinionated. Very wise too, I notice how he chooses his words very carefully, and reserve’s judgement.

what I have always loved about John is he will always explain his reasons intelligently unless he has been asked something stupid by someone insincere. I once heard him say that if someone is being true to themselves they deserve respect whether you agree with them or not. I have seen him a several interviews over the years and have noticed that he is only rude when people are rude or disrespectful to him or those close to him.
It truly is unbelievable they did this without him.
The thing is, Johnny is still punk rock in every way, unapologetically says what he thinks, never goes along with the crowd for pats on the back, like so many others. The entertainment industry is a bunch of conformists, so they cut him out of the history he made.

What a legend, the only person in the industry of entertainment who did his job and used his position correctly and still does, actually Ricky Gervais does as well so all my love to both of them and I will be supporting his charity.

A very articulate and intelligent man
The real story here is that he's been married to the same woman for decades and now spends most of his time either looking after her or working for the money that provides her with care. The people who hated on John back in the day probably can't say the same

He’s very right about playing music to Alzheimer’s patient, there was an amazing documentary about that very thing. The best part is, when I get it, I’ll still be able to remember the important things in my life, great music!

John is the embodiment of punk. He is also a very very amusing, yet intelligent,& articulate guest. This would be the only Piers interview I'd even watch.

I never thought I'd say it in the same sentence as this; John and his quirky band had a genuineness that did shout out for change for the right reasons in a time where there was little hope. If those who were around would remember we we going through a recession far worse than now. An energy crunch, little value to money, no jobs. But we made it through that now all we have are pretenders screaming for hip individualism and the cash grab of the moment. Yes Harry is one of them, disingenuious, proud, and won't hold up to any standard John has.

When I first saw John on tv back in the mid 70’s I thought he was quite a scary guy, which just goes to show why we must not judge anyone by how they look. Looking now I would say John is a very caring model citizen who just happens to be very opinionated.
Definitely one invited to my dinner table, I find him most agreeable.
He’s got some rather quick and snappy responses. First rehearsal with SP, was enlightening and quickly retrieved to tell the story.

The series is based on Steve Jones's biography, Lonely Boy.
The producers reached out to Lydon for permission to use the
songs,and he told them to fuck off, because he wasn't front and center
in someone elses bio pic.He refused to give permission and took them
to court. He quite rightly lost the case.
No Steve Jones, no Sex Pistols basically.
100% correct, John has put his own twist on events.
Sort of..... Steve Jones was almost certainly the musical driving force behind the Pistols and I love the sound he seems to get on any record he does. And he probably stole most of the equipment they used! But the Pistols would not be the band they were without Lydon. That's just a fact.
@@user-John666 Maybe but you could say the same about any of the four original members, they were all as important as each other in orchestrating the original pistols sound, John has it in his head that he was the Sex Pisrols and in recent interviews has shown a lot of disrespect towards the other three surviving members, if this biopic was based on John's memoirs none of this nonsense would have happened.
@@Muirton66 I sort of agree with you but Lydon was an incredibly charismatic frontman and not just simply a standard singer. He has his faults in all this fall out I'm sure but the band would not be who they were without him. As you say all members contributed, especially Jones , so not dismissing them either.

I have a lot of respect for the man but knowing what I know his take on recent events is slightly distorted. I suppose if you think about it the chaos of the Sex Pistols was always going to end like this.
Dont like how twice he emphasises that he wrote the songs. Actualy he wrote the lyrics, and the rest of the band wrote the music, as you can see from the songwriting credits. So he did not write the songs. He wrote the lyrics, and him and the rest of the band wrote the songs.

The pistols were the greatest shocking band of my teens. David Bowie was taking me into heaven at that time then god save the Queen hit me like a punch in the face amazing.

I met John Lydon last year and he is a fantastic friendly person and has values second to none. A real British icon .
I agree - he's really a lovely guy with good moral values. He's currently looking after his wife who has early on-set dementia - he clearly loves her to bits and is happy to do it. What a guy!!
