I have the same issue with my 91 hatch. I have not yet confirme, but people have told me the drain tubes for the sunroof get blocked up, and it backs up and leaks into the rear area. Also, the water getting in the way back, I believe is coming from right under the rain gutters that run from windshield to rear window along the roof. Under the stripping, you will probably find what looks like minor cracking of the seam sealing...Doesn't look like much, but I think that is where a lot of mine comes in. I have not wanted to totally remove them and reseal.

You're right. My sunroof tubes weren't clogged, but they were slipped out of the rear grommets. You're also correct about the weather stripping. There were any obvious leaks, but I added some silicone around the clips that hold the trim in place and it fixed it!

Also, the taillight gaskets are common to go bad - mine leak, but those are easy to replace :)

The puddle behind the passenger seat might be coming from the rear side molding. I heard that water leaks through the clips there.

Thought i'd let you know it looks like you have your rear hatch shock on the wrong way around, was told that they will wear out twice as fast if you have them on like that.

But what about the hatch leak?

The water in the trunk was due to the plastic trim that goes along the roof. Pulled it back and added a bead of silicone - problem gone
