    I was dreading the mess of the caulking gun method of sealant but this ribbon sealer was a huge save. Thank you so much!!

    its always good to seal up the rear end because when water gets down in those pockets it sits and rots out the rear panels by the wheels

    Question. Is this sealant stuff permanent? What if you need to change one of the bulbs? Can you still get the assembly off?

    Cheers man, getting sick of taking the trunk apart in my Q so I'll be trying this next. Was gonna make gaskets but this looks far better.

      Be sure to check out part 2 of waterproofing the trunk as well! I found some more leaks that weren’t related to the tail lights. You’ll definitely want to seal them up while your in there.

    Im thinking of using gutter glue/mastic on my indicator cover as it'll hopefully be removable for changing the bulb. Don't need much

    Would be o.k if put butyl tape on light and then install on car?

    I bought this seal for my front lamp. Normally need to apply heat when it sticks plastic to plastic. If not definately cant be separated.
    But in this case its plastic to metal. Thanks for the idea man 👍🏽👍🏽. Didnt think about this easy method

    How is holding up? I am doing the same thing on my 88 Prelude, i just bought the same sealant

      It’s holding up really well! No leaks from the areas I’ve sealed up. There are some other areas that are leaking, but they are not related to the tail lights I’ve sealed up.

    Can you duct tape the outside of the light as a quick fix until I can take it somewhere to be professionally done? I don't think I want to mess with the inside of the trunk.

    Why did you not put that sealant around the outer inside edge of the rear light housing? Much quicker.....easier...and now you won't have trapped water between your hard work and the outer part of the light?

    Butyl tape…I would not have thought of this. I was planning to use black rtv and this solution is much less messier and easier to remove when the time comes.

    is this product removable or permeant? if in case, needs to remove the assembly.

      Definitely removable. I just removed my tail light assembly within the last few months with zero issues. Works very well.

      I haven’t tried it yet, but I imagine it would be easier than removing the oem sealed tailights.

    Hey! I just discovered a leak in my tail light and am looking for a way to fix it. However, I live in a place that gets pretty hot and humid - do you think what you used would be able to hold up to that?

      Definitely! I lived in Kansas for a couple years after this where it gets very hot and humid in the summer. It held up great.

    I am going to give it a try and I am sure it will work for me too. The 3M products are really great as their quality has a standard.

      It’s worked great for me so far. There are a few other problem areas in the trunk besides the tail lights I plan to address in the future.

    You didn't seal the tail lights per se, but instead the rear end where the taillights are housed. I thought this was for taillights that had gotten water inside them and not the trunk.

    Looks nice. But now getting those tailights off are going to be a nightmare. No way your getting them off without completely breaking the housing. I'm going with a foam double sided tape.

      They are the sacred texts lol. It’s held up well! I managed to find a few other areas that leak unrelated to the tail lights. I’ll make a vid on it soon.

      @@BTaylored mine still leaks, bit i think it is because i didn't donught the bolt holes with the rubber like you did, gotta get another spool and re-do it. Might also go over some of the areas with clear silicon sealant

      I think it’s called butyl tape. Similar or same to what’s used to seal windshields.

      +Eighties Evil Spraying them red was the initial plan, with inspiration from Drift Magic. I even bought paint and everything for it. But I was convinced to leave them as is by a few people. Still torn on it. Im considering wrapping them in black at the moment.

    Please get rid of these tails. They really look like something a clueless honda owner would put on to their accord to add horsepower. Get clear tails from enjuku or type x tails. PLEAAAAAAAAAAASE dont rep the Nissan peeps this way

      +Chlorophant Hahaha, thanks! I needed a good laugh. Since I have the Type-X lower garnish installed, Type-X tails are the eventual goal. I might tint these in the mean time. But I agree, these tails have had a hard time growing on me.
