It is truly just mind blowing how crazy wild the technical works have come for Lego functions! I seriously can't imagine how mind straining it must be for the designers to come up with this stuff!!! It's like a whole science of its own!!!!
The one thing I think would've improved it is if they had managed to include a soundbrick that goes "ding" when the carriage is done and when resetting.
Built it a couple of days ago after picking it up on Wednesday. It is a pretty sweet piece. Do make sure you are careful to follow the steps as I missed the Lego to attach the fake hammers to the typewriter and was confused why it wouldn’t fit.
Cool video as always Alex. Think this set looks great. Absolutely love the sand green. It’s probably my favourite colour. I’d display it in my office like you. Would look great on my bookcase. I’ve only one main complaint. At the price, the system sticker on the front should’ve really been a printed piece. That feels like a missed opportunity. I think having the sticker on the back (like the Nintendo TV set) is fine, but defo not the front, especially when it’s front a centre too. That aside... looks an awesome display piece!
Pretty cool Alex. I always like the way you review Lego sets. Although I am old enough that I actually took typewriting classes with old Typewriters, I don't see myself picking this up. It is cool but I am not that excited about it.
Quick question - in Step 300, should the carriage clip on securely? Instructions seem to indicate it somehow has to clip on to the yellow pole piece, but can't see how. Or does the carriage just rest on top of the mechanism at this stage?
It is cool. Ingenious design. I just don’t have a place for it or any desire for it. If I bought it I doubt I’d build it. So not sure I’d buy it at the price point.
Not sure why but mine actually moves 27 times. It moves a bit more but 27 soiled movements. I just noticed that yours really dies towards the end. You may need to adjust your gears and axels.

The paper, goes BEHIND the grey bar, with the two black bits.
In a real typewriter, that holds the paper to the drum.

It definitely looks cool on a shelf, but if I'm gonna spend that much on a set I want to really enjoy building it and it doesn't seem like I would.
In old typewriters there was no backspace key, so if you made a mistake you had to rip out the paper and start again
