Yes! Very smart fashion advice. When I was in 10th grade, I had to do a written paper for my geometry class. I wrote mine on the use of geometry in creating prespective in art. That helped me learn how to direct the eye and create a long line on my small 5'4" frame. Most people think I'm much taller than I am and I rarely wear high heels. So glad I found you.

Betty here.....I'm so glad I found this video. It's very helpful! I'm 5'7" but have short legs and I also have to watch for those horizontal lines. We should leave comments on every store we visit that does not provide petite sizing. I have left mine in some. Many claim to carry petite to get us to walk inside yet I walk inside to check them out and leave empty feeling like a Smurf. Lol! Also blue in the face from disappointment. The struggle is real with us petites.

horizontal lines are not all disasters. it all depends on the WHOLE picture of your image.
if you have more or less slim legs, you may not care about horizontal lines too much.

Great styling tips, as always, Chi. I can’t wear pointed shoes because of my wide toes, but I find that the almond toe usually works well; it lengthens the foot more than rounded toes, but is much more comfortable than pointed.
I have wide toes too but I just suffer for beauty!

I have small but wide feet and have found pointed toe shoes from Sole Bliss in the UK are fine - they are specially designed for wide feet and/or bunions.
Haha so so true.... i love my ankle boots but they are the hardest to match my clothes... only one pair of jeans I have can go nicely with them as the hems end at the right place and the hems are narrow. All other jeans' hems start fighting the cuffs of the boots LOL.

You are very good. I like the way you explain the reason for your choices of footwear and the concept of horizontal and vertical lines. Also good info on the colors and toe style of ankle boots.
I would prefer a plain area , as opposed to all those leaves around when you actually show a full length outfit. Patterns, leaves, etc. on the ground distract from the presentation and getting an accurate view of the outfit from toe to head or vice-versa.

Hi your videos are really handy. Jfyi petit is masculine the t is silent. In your case petite should be used when referring to yourself. In this case the final e is silent but the t before should be heard. One suggestion : could you also use size plus models sometimes. I could help the size plus petites to figure out better what to and what to not use. Otherwise very crisp and well illustrated presentations.

I bought a pair of wide leg jeans that are shorter and I find them almost impossible to style. I end up wearing them with white sneakers most of the time, and I regret having given money out for them. Watching your video I finally get why I just feel weird in them. It’s because they make my legs look short because of that crazy horizontal line. I have another pair that are longer and I feel like $1 million in them. I have super cute booties that look cute with the shorter ones but they don’t work well for walks, which is about the only activity that I have been doing since Covid. Your video was just super helpful!!! Thank you!

Im a short woman and from my experience I wouldn't recommend rolling up your trousers. It's better to get the length altered.
I’m 5’4”. I know that to create length, I need to avoid wearing a cuffed pant. Totally understand that, but here’s the deal. I LIKE to cuff my pants! I like how it gives an outfit a sporty vibe, and quite honestly, I like the way it looks. I don’t mind being short so it’s no big deal to me if I look short.

Here’s a tip, you can roll under. And roll it twice that will make it stay put. If you roll it under once it will drop down very quickly. If you don’t need it to be much shorter then make the roll under an inch or half inch even. And if you need it much shorter so much the better you can make the roll under a whole inch or 2 inches that shortens the pants by 4 inches. And then if you want to wear the pants with higher heels or lower top shoes, you can just unroll it! This doesn’t really work with wider leg pants because they won’t stay up. Chi recommended that your longer pants be 3 inches more than your usual inseam. I am going to try that!

I have a pair of booties with animal prints and do love them they add so fun to the rest of the outfit but yes, that’s when I keep everything else muted/same color as much as possible. Do want to get regular boots also love them! I bought in white but somehow don’t really like them much ok. with a tan skirt and light colored ending skirts or dresses but I find them challenging to match.

I love my booties & also try to wear a dark sock or tights when I wear black pants or jeans so I’m not creating another line when my ankle shows. I am 5”2’ & have always tried to wear one color or tone and a time, so it doesn’t cut me off.
