I'm out of Nashville...I was the Backline Tech on this tour. This was such a great experience to be able to take care of Lyle and all the fine musicians...fond memories unforgetable.
Let me say This Soul Brother got a whole lot of SOUL. I have been a musician for over fifty years playing all over. He does his thing and he does it well ,GOD BLESS Lyle Lovett.
I love Lyle and his style. Been listening to him since Pontiac and have played a few of his songs in bars. I’ve seen him 3 times and he’s excellent! Quality of sound even in a Civic Center environment was Superb. However, the man has a rhythm that is something else - or nothing - when he moves. No doubt he is stiff as a board when he moves…. Fortunately the music dances for him. Thanks Lyle for what you do and for supporting other artists.
This is perhaps the best performance I have ever witnessed by any group. Thank you Lyle Lovett for making this possible. And thank you God for the treasure that is Lyle Lovett.
One of the greatest singer songwriters of ALL time! Nobody mentions him alongside Ray Charles, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder and so many others, but he belongs in that company. Few do!
*@edmasciana2577.* ...and JJ Cale, whose blending of different American music styles is very unique. JJ Cale was a gift from Oklahoma. Greetings from Morocco
Omg I have a new favourite singer!!!! Love love love this guy. And the singers singing with him....... WOOOW!! A-MAAA-ZING! Why did I have to wait so long...
RIP Sweet Pea Atkinson - how you will be missed. To Sweet Pea’s left is his Was (Not Was) co-vocalist Sir Harry Bowens, and then of course the incomparable Francine Reed. Amazing lineup.
Lyle Lovett is so awesome that five years ago he performed at gospel at the White House when Barack Obama was president. He was incredible. He even had his large band.
I had the pleasure of seeing LL and his Large band at an opera house here in Norfolk, VA and they tore the House down! !! They were so good that I hunted them down to see them AGAIN as soon as they were nearby. Lyle Lovett and his Large Band never disappoints.
Hello thanks for your comment and supports ... your comment and constant support has brought me this far.. keep supporting.. I love ❤️ you .. Have you been to my concert before ?
i saw this perfect gentleman super artist and his big band and awesome singer friend backups on mud island in memphis. Lord have mercy. i think bonnie rhaitt was after him. think she was why i went in the first place but lyle played first and i had ascended by the time bonnie's time came up. damn that man is a genius! saw him again at the orpheum in memphis some years later. like a fine wine baby!
I've listened to this song dozens of times, and it never fails to make me smile and also move -- either tap my foot, clap my hands, snap my fingers, sway--- something! And sometimes sing along, too, *"Well, well, well, well!"( (The video of this is PERFECT!) I love this song so much, it's *this close* to tying with my other favorite LL song for First Place!

Sir Harry Bowens. He is a treasure - if you like him seek out the band Was (Not Was), also featuring the late Sweet Pea Atkinson who is in this video as the Preacher
It's been YEARS since I've seen Lyle (in any setting). I will rectify that ASAP. We saw him at least annually - often more frequently. The joy of this song brought tears of happiness right out, coupled with a bit of melancholy that it's been so long since we took in such a show. And what a great rendition of my favorite song that he has yet created!
Totally unique voice. My daughter and I see him whenever he tours with the Large Band fabulous musicians, and he is a very interesting man. Julia let a good one get away!
Probably the best show I saw at Ozark amp for the 2024 lineup.. There were some good ones.. but this show was top tier. Blew me away.. and there was hardly anyone there. Sad, man.. but they brought it!!

Who's listening in 2024? 💕I love Lyle and I love this song!
This song is over 30 years old, and still worthy of being on a playlist.
Lyle is just about the only artist without a single weak song on any album
Lyle Lovett is a national treasure. And Church is one of his best songs. What a great band and performance! Watched countless times!

Yes to everything
We played this song at my Mother-in-Laws's funeral. It was her favorite song and she sure loved to eat.
Right, sing this before eating the funeral potatoes! 😊

This song was inspiration for us Methodists to change the time of service to 10:30 to 11:30 so we could beat the Baptist’s to the buffet.
If I had the great fortune to be in this audience there is NO WAY I could have stayed in my seat while clapping along.
