This is one of my all time favorite love songs from Lyle Lovett. Rickie Lee Jones voice is still as beautiful and unique as I remember. Such an incredible song ❤
The incomparable arrangement by Lyle-the orchestration and the musictration, and adding Rikki Lee-no wonder he’s acknowledged as the musical genius he is.
I went to a country festival almost 4 years ago, I’d originally gone to see Chris Stapleton. I’d never heard of Lyle Lovett and when he played this song, it hit me like a ton of bricks, brought out emotions that I never knew I had. I’ve listen to this song ever since at least once a week. Thankyou Lyle
I've been a Rickie Lee fan since the late 70's and a huge Lyle fan since the early 90's.... It does not get better than this.... I am 66 and this one is on constant rotation when I just want to hear some good fuckin' music... Saw Lyle and his Big Band with my older son about 8 months ago and it was a total bucket list experience. Long Live Real music !
I’m a Texan and I’ve been a Lyle Lovett fan since the 90’s, plus my son bought tickets for us to see him for my 60th birthday in an upcoming concert. It makes me SICK hearing about a noose on their tour through Montana. That’s a state I’ve been fortunate to go to and fly fish on the Yellowstone River. I have to say WTF?! He is a wonderful musician, as is she, Rickie Lee Jones. What is America coming to when Lyle Lovett is threatened, with a noose.
There's an economy in his lyrics that says so much more about love and heartbreak. And Rickie's higher notes against Lyle's deeper and darker ones - knocks me out every time. Every time.
I listen to this song often on my Spotify but this well crafted song is so good and dynamic I come back to watch just to see this performance. So good so soulful great music. Rickie Lee jones cry in the end is achingly beautiful.
Such beautiful words, especially when you find a cowboy, who fills your heart so full, it often skips a beat in the adulation of what is the essence of love and light and beauty in the union between lovers.
I have listened to this cut dozens of times- 2 of my favorite musicians singing one of my favorite songs. I would encourage all of you out there to check out more music by both artists. Art saves lives- music saved me.
At 58 I'm just discovering this! Recently purchased Rickie Lee Jones album and realized I have a lot of catching up to do. Looks like I have some discovering to do with Lyle Lovett and these wonderful musicians with him. I knew of Lyle Lovett and Rickie Lee Jones, just not familiar with much of their music. Just recently discovered Patti Smith and Joni Mitchell via Drivin N Cryin, my favorite band since 1991!
I guess the old adage of knowing how to do enough and not overdoing it really describes this. Every note, every nuance from everyone is just perfect for the song. From the first note of the intro until the last note, it needs nothing. After the show they all had to know they had done it perfectly, I can't imagine the feeling they got from doing it.
The only people I would stand in a line for tickets are Lyle and Sade. Sixty two year old black dude that loves drumming to southern rock and heavy metal. Bullets in Blue Sky...the reason the volume knob goes to 10!
A masterpiece. I used to listen to this driving all night through the western deserts and it carried me a million miles. What a great craftsman Lyle Lovett is. Where is he? I would love a new album from him. This is a great damn performance.
Beautiful song! I must admit, I watched this because I'd not heard Rickie Lee Jones in about 40 years, and I was curious. This was wonderful, and I'll be looking for more.
I have a Lyle Lovett tour tee shirt from when he came to Perth Western Australia. It is so faded and wrecked. It is my favourite. The best concert I have ever witnessed, the musicianship was without par, and I have seen led zeppelin when they played here in the 70s. Please come back to Australia Lyle.
A beautiful song- as teary as Rickie Lee's "skeletons" in its own way. And Matt Rollings? Damn.. Every time I hear him play with Lyle, it makes me so happy- his piano language in that simple song is so expansive.. instant Technicolor. Thx for posting!
At a concert after rounds of applause ? We got up to leave....Calls of "MORE"! We ran back and sat down, randomly. Thank God he did this song.Heavenly! What a memory!!!
I have loved this song since it came out on Joshua Judges Ruth. It makes me cry every time I hear it. Even now. There is a simple sophistication and elegance that runs all through this song. I'm thinking it's a God thing...
barely heard this song 4 days ago, WOW!! 2 decades later I never knew that I was a Lyle Lovett fan.. I'm blow away by Lyle's and Rickie's voices on this powerful song.
Saw them do this together in Minneapolis what seems like a life time ago....it was stunning...sparse..and clean and clear and it is still powerful and sad...
I’ve watched 25 times at least and still think this is just a gorgeous rendition of a very nice song. The production just elevates it so much, like a painting of a song- it’s really good.
I’ve been fortunate enough to see Lyle twice. He puts so much into his music that his songs sound the way short stories by Cormac McCarthy would read. Rich.
Lyle is so far ahead of my second favorite singer. Everything he sings is perfection. His humility and humor in concert is so refreshing as well. A true entertainer.
I saw Rickie Lee in the late 70’s and have loved her ever since. I am a Lyle Lovett fan forever, got to see him in Galveston at a small theater..... he is an amazing musician/ storyteller/ performer.
I have only seen him live 2 x and he is so incredible, smart, and FUNNY . Talented man and he loves everyone he works with , you can tell. I adore Rickie and would love to see her .This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard !
I've seen Rickie twice, many years apart and she puts on a great musical show and the bands were just crackin'. Seeing this makes me want to see too Lyle too!
Rickie Lee like a lightning bolt on this beautifully written and delivered song.
Good way of putting it.😮😊
Message to at least 95% of singers, songwriters and musicians: THIS is how it's done.
Everybody should own at least one Rickie Lee Jones album.
My favorite part is when the guitar solo starts and Rickie steps back into the shadows. True artistry on that stage.
I never get tired of this version of this song by 2 of my favorite artists.💗
I keep coming back to this every once in awhile. Gorgeous. ❤️
Me., too.
Lyle is so under appreciated
The arrangement kills. Truly beautiful from start to finish.
Beautiful lyrics

Checking in Lyle
@@silverbackshotcall8r956 He's incredible... and used to be married to Julia Roberts!

One of the most beautiful songs ever written. This version is simply perfection.

You said it
❤❤
I agree.
What a special moment between two amazing artists.
Lyle watches every nuance coming from RJs lips, and syncs with that in real time. That is one of the reasons this duet is so compelling. IMO.
Could not have been performed by two more unique and talented artists… Absolute perfection! 🙏🏻
Watching this blows me away every time!

A beautiful song the voices echo soul life and loss and all the players are caught in that sublime moment
Truly the most explosive song delivered perfectly with amazing sonic subtlety.
They slowed me right down.
There's an economy in his lyrics that says so much more about love and heartbreak. And Rickie's higher notes against Lyle's deeper and darker ones - knocks me out every time. Every time.
So ditto, John Geraci.
Willis Alan Ramsey
WELL SAID...J
Love it
Like Japanese art. What's not there is more significant
beautiful piano

So good so soulful great music. Rickie Lee jones cry in the end is achingly beautiful.
Just smacks me in the heart every time I hear this song. Huge Rickie Lee Jones fan. I've seen him live twice. The very best!
I’ve seen him twice as well. The second time was at Mud Island, practically over the water. Yes, it was - it was.
Such beautiful words, especially when you find a cowboy, who fills your heart so full, it often skips a beat in the adulation of what is the essence of love and light and beauty in the union between lovers.

Went to see Ricki probably 25 years ago, and there was this unknown guy opening for her… this song brings it all back. Song writing isn’t dead!
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever.
This is such a beautiful song. Had it in my head all day. Rickie and Lyle’s musical chemistry is pure magic. Love the subtlety and depth of this song.
Boy if I was not lonely before I sure am now . Dammit Jim
THIS WAS SUNG IN THE LATE 80'S, IN SPOKANE, WASHINGTON..WE WERE READY TO LEAVE-AND HE DID THIS SONG. SO GLAD!!! MAY 24,2022
LOVE THIS SONG

I was at this concert...still gives me chills!
wow, it's one of the best performances I've ever heard. So much soul.
Where was concert Liz?
Where and when?
Where &when was this concert?? They're magical singing together ❤
This piano man is a god.
Rickie Lee Jones' voice can be absolutely haunting at times
Both of them,toghther.
This tune.

There’s just an understated gracefulness to this tune
Yes
Rickies harmony towards the end is so Rickie, awesomeness…love it…
Stopped me in my tracks first time I heard it. Replayed immediately and cried the whole time for reasoning beyond me.
Chuck I think we cry when we watch this because we so rarely see beauty and truth all at once. It is overwhelming.
Yip one o them!
Not alone in that.
cause his music has a soul. something too often missing.

Wow. That was so beautiful.
Just found this. It’s so beautiful, restrained and the whole sound shimmering and hanging together like a spider’s web.
I saw him in Philly in the 90s. It was great. Shes no lady shes my wife.
We are so much richer to have Lyle singing our Texas songs.
The only people I would stand in a line for tickets are Lyle and Sade. Sixty two year old black dude that loves drumming to southern rock and heavy metal. Bullets in Blue Sky...the reason the volume knob goes to 10!

Lyle makes major art everytime he opens his mouth, let alone the times he plays that guitar. Rickie shares his proclivity. beautiful....
Lyle is true Class and a Poet. What a wonderful song.
Thank you Ricki and Lyle
Just beautiful
beautiful song! and a great performance too!
I have known Lyle Lovett and his family since 1983. This song is a masterpiece and once of his very best. Thank you, Lyle! God bless you!
Right up there with "If I had a pony"
" If I Had a Boat "
I met Lyle in the late 80's. Nicest guy you could ever meet. If he ever comes to your town, go see him and his Large Band.
I've met him multiple times as well. He's generous, gifted, and a true class act all the way.
Did you get to ask him how he managed to hook one of the world’s most beautiful women in her prime? (Julia Roberts)
Been listening to Lyle forever. seen him live multiple times....If love me say I love you.....GREAT TALENT.
Saw them do this together in Minneapolis what seems like a life time ago....it was stunning...sparse..and clean and clear and it is still powerful and sad...
What a wonderful experience! I just heard this today after not hearing in forever. Such a gorgeous song. ♥️
I remember the first time I heard Lyle Lovett. So much intelligence and feeling in his songs.
I’ve watched 25 times at least and still think this is just a gorgeous rendition of a very nice song. The production just elevates it so much, like a painting of a song- it’s really good.
So subtle. So understated. So good!
Absolutely wonderful. What a beautiful song.
Best male voice... I've seen him twice.. Amazing
Always brings a tear to my eyes no matter how many times I hear it.
I take it you know nothing about covid 19 killing people everyday
I absolutely love this song and in particular this version.
What a great performance. So subtle and beautiful.
I was there and it is better now then in the early 90's...
So beautiful, so perfect.

SOOOOOO Beautiful
Beautiful, moving, tears ran down my face as soon as she sang
This song just grows and grows! I love the way she misses the cue and just laughs but then cements it with a harmony that makes Lyle smile!
Lyle is so far ahead of my second favorite singer. Everything he sings is perfection. His humility and humor in concert is so refreshing as well. A true entertainer.
I go for the jokes, just as much as his music!
@@mathews1528 he’s awesome in between songs!
A great combination of artists! This performance is amazing!
This is just pure soul food.
It took me across the country.
Sounds like reading a Cormac McCarthy novel.
its amazing to watch people who know how to use their voices.
Love Rickie Lee Jones. Amazing style and completely unique.
Beautiful on so many levels.
Gives me shivers. Beautiful song.
Still listening 7-22-2019 great song hauntingly beautiful! Rickie Lee Jones can sing to me anyday 💖💞💖
Beats anything I've ever helt, felt or smelt. Just a beautiful song!
How pretty. As many times as I've heard this, and I've heard this live, it's always fresh, always sweet, always with love. Can one ever get enough?
She barely gets to touch the song - and yet that is enough to lift it up into the air.
I saw Rickie Lee in the late 70’s and have loved her ever since. I am a Lyle Lovett fan forever, got to see him in Galveston at a small theater..... he is an amazing musician/ storyteller/ performer.
WOW! Fantastic live performance of one of my favorite Lyle songs. Amazing with RLJ.
Lyle is a true master of the art of musical story telling to the point of being captivating.
No one can hook you on a feeling as Lyle Lovett. He can suspend TIME. He's not an artist.. he is DOPING!
Rickie Lee Jones is doping, too.
Is there anything more beautiful than their voices intertwined?
No
Amazing artists. Just look at the joy in Lyle's face as he sings duet with Rikie!
No histrionics from that man. His music says everything that needs to be said.
I have only seen him live 2 x and he is so incredible, smart, and FUNNY . Talented man and he loves everyone he works with , you can tell. I adore Rickie and would love to see her .This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard !

Anything and everything this man does musically is extraordinary! A highly talented man who is largely unknown by the masses.
The best produced Lyle video ever. My friend saw them do this on this tour second row. This is a close second.
Atmospheric, love Lyle love this song
Rikki Lee Jones is the coolest woman I ever seen!
It just doesn't get any better than that.
Yep
That made me smile and weep at the same time.
Such a great performance❤️ I continue to play.😊
That guitar solo at 3:41. Just WOW. So simple, so beautiful, so perfect. That goes for the whole song I suppose.
One of my all time favorite songs . . .
Beautiful and tear jerking
