I wish there was an option te tell Maven to suck a big one when she boasts about contacts in the Dark Brotherhood. I was the Listener and was in full Brotherhood armour when she was threatening me to send my family after me if I dare to cross her. It's ridiculous. Did you know that certain vampires are immune to sun fire and vampires bane spells? If you do the dawnguard sidequests, and they send you to kill a 'jarls advisor' vampire; he will be completely immune to anti undead magic. I think it works for vampires posing as travellers, pilgrims, bards, etc. Too.

@@pickleioi9058 Either works, although in reality I tend to play stealthy and rarely have followers with me, so it's more convenient to just stop by Windhelm and pay Stenvar 500 septims to follow me up to the Sacellum. At least I get some of my gold back when the Courier shows up with the inheritence letter, lol.
I know this is an old series but for anyone still watching, This just happened to me, I just found out that if you have the dark brotherhood Spectral Assassin summoned and you walk over near Shadowmere, the spectral assassin will say something along the lines of "Shadowmere, my old and dear friend" , which I thought was pretty cool and worth a mention :)

The priority should be to earn them money after all... Going online with this does not make alot of sense. You are supposed to be the special one so to say. And your decisions influentiate the relationships with the different factions in the game and their characters and by that also the ending. Now in Fallout 76 you are nothing special anymore since everywhere around you are people that are probably just as good as you or better... And have the same skills. The idea of the Dragonborn is very similar to all Fallout protagonists. Obviously. They are the same company after all. Taking damage in darkness in Apocrypha is a Doctor Who reference. In "Silence in the Library" episode happens the exact same thing: in order to survive swarms of minuscule predators that mimic shadows, the Vashta Nerada, the Doctor uses light to avoid them, casting away the shadows and being able to avoid them. Obviously, the whole episode take place in a library, like Apocrypha.

It is really interesting that Durneviir refers to you not as a dragonborn, but simply as a dragon. If you are supposed to have the soul of a dragon, it would make sense that all he is able to see is that.
Hey Nate, not sure if you ever covered this but I'm here to help. During the thieves guild questline, right after the guild discovered that Mercer stole from them. You get send to his house in Riften to find evidence where he is. They warn you about his bodyguard Vald. Now most people probably just murdered him to death and finished the quest. But there is an option to talk to Vex where you learn that she dated him once. She tells you that he screwed up and Maven makes him work for mercer now guarding his home. If you go to Maven you have to option to fix his screw up and she will forgive his debt. You just have to find her quill that he lost. Afterward, you can just tell him she forgave his debt and he will give you there key and he will leave. My favorite thing I've ever had happen in Riften is that a thief randomly spawned and got cut down almost instantly by like five guards, before I ever got over there to help...and one of the guards that killed the thief turned around with blood on his blade and asked me "what do you know about this?" and I was like "dude I have not a drop of blood on my blade, wtf are you on".
The apocrypha one is definitely on purpose. That's why there is the floating light sources. You can get through the whole thing by moving underneath them and take no shadow damage.

Go to Blackreach, find the dwemer/dwarven sun sphere light, get on the roof nearby via the dungeon and shout Fus Ro Dah at the sphere and you will trigger a hidden dragon fight right in the Blackreach underground zone. Old news but maybe ya didn't know.

Can we just talk about how damn cool Durnehviir is? He’s basically a zombie dragon, with I believe a unique shout that summons Bonemen, that can fight by your side. He’s technically not a follower in the game, but he is one in my heart.

@dsasd ads You could try roleplaying. My next character is going to be a vegan, because he hates bosmer. I'm not just only going to eat plants, I'm also going to avoid making potions using animal parts, and pluck every single plant I can find. Plenty of fun for a couple dozen hours.
I found Ralis Sedarys to be the perfect "sacrifice" to Boethiah. He has obviously been sacrificing workers to Ahzidal, yet you can allow him to live and he becomes a follower.
The last one is actually a bit interesting. If you haven't gone to see the Greybeards, but you've slain plenty of dragons and unlocked enough shouts, Durnehviir still won't know why he's granting you that title. Similarly, if you've already defeated Alduin, he makes sure you know how impressed he is with you.

I've actually done two of these! The first time I realized the darkness was sapping my health I started using light spells, and on several characters I have avoided the main quest while I explore the civil war or Dawnguard, just to see the differences. Thought that last one was a nice touch and bit of foresight on Bethesda's part!
Any single NPC...I did murder an East Imperial dude in the Warehouse to death while following the Argonian for the Thieves Guild. He just turned around, went over to the body and said "I will find whoever did this...". Like, I wasn't even sneaking.
When I had to do Boethiah's quest I just went to Riverwood and asked Sven to follow me. I didn't lose any followers and I got rid of Sven, win win for me.
One of my favorite mods RLO makes some places extremely dark and I love it, so I use torches all the time. My favorite example was encountering the skeleton dragon in Labyrinthian. The room was pitch black; you may as well have had your monitor turned off. It was so scary, casting a magelight and candlelight spell only to have them run out half way through battle and then being able to see nothing.
Another thing about that Durnehviir fact, he also has special dialogue if you've already beaten the main quest. He says something along the lines that news of Alduin's defeat has even reached the Soul Cairn, which indicates a massive level of interest in his death by the daedra.

I actually recently accounted that secret dialogue with the dragon in the soul carin because I normally wait till around level 25 to do the main quest line.
He normally teaches you his summon shout, leading to the soul tear shout, what happens to that dialog when you haven't found out you're dragon born yet?
the next few easter eggs based on star wars are in skyrim. i'll list them here for anyone interested. Star Wars Inside of Frostfruit Inn, Erik can be heard talking to his father, with his father telling him, "All I ask is that you stay on for one more season," and "That's just your mother's side in you." This is a reference to Uncle Owen's conversation with Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Also, Calcelmo can be heard telling his nephew, Aicantar, "Next season for sure." If you travel with the ghost of Lucien Lachance, he will sometimes say "I feel a disturbance in the void," which is very similar to the phrase "I feel a great disturbance in The Force," from the Star Wars movies which is often said by Force wielders. Inside of Bleakcoast Cave (Eastern Winterhold), there is a skeleton hanging upside down from the ceiling. Below the skeleton is a glowing sword. This is a reference to Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back when Luke Skywalker was caught on Hoth and hung from the cavern ceiling. The sword below represents his lightsaber. This is the second time Bethesda has put this Easter Egg in an Elder Scrolls game. A similar cave existed in Bloodmoon called Bjorn, referencing the scene in a similar manner. At 0:58 in the song "Distant Horizons" from the official soundtrack, a part of Bastila Shan's theme from the Knights of the Old Republic game will play. Composer Jeremy Soule created the music for both games.

I use Alternate Start mod to start off as a new Dawn guard member, and run through that storyline before Helgen. When I got that option with the dragon, I was seriously impressed with Bethesda's dev (s) for their foresight in adding all possibilities for that dialog. I've subsequently played this start nearly every time since, just because of that one little piece.
For the dead body one I just found that today, and for the apocrypha puzzle I saw the darkness hurt me and immediately thought "fuck yo darkness, mage light"

Of all the times I've started a new game, I never think of not starting the main quest. As I watch videos like this, I realize how incredibly cool Skyrim is for giving you so many different options of game play. 😍
I’ve had guards confront me about the corpse thing when I was in stealth mode. I had my armor gigaenchanted with the sneak enchantment too. The guards can still find you in stealth mode if they get close to you, even if they wouldn’t normally be able to detect you, just like the courier can find you when he has a letter for you, regardless of how high your stealth skill is or how strong your sneak enchantments are and regardless of whether you’re under effects from a sneak potion. If a courier needs to find you, he can find you. If a guard is close to you, and that scenario begins, he/she can and will find you if you don’t get away in a hurry. Same with pickpocket attempts. There’s always at least a 10% chance of failure.
2:15 Here’s a third alternative, and one I think is very much in the spirit of this quest but also against Boethiah herself: play the quest normally up until the part where your sacrifice has been stuck to the pillar. Kill all the cultists except for one. That last cultist is pivotal. Now you must kill that cultist and your follower simultaneously or at least near so (it helps to get them next to each other). If done right, Boethiah will possess either your follower or the last cultist, but your follower comes out alive in all that. Just a note though, the follower’s inventory will be reset to default, so if you gave them anything you don’t want to lose, take it off them before telling them to touch the pillar. If the timing doesn’t work out, reportedly, Njada’s been known to come back to life not unlike Skjor sometimes. Continuing this though, you don’t need to kill the former Champion. All the game is looking for is you getting the Ebony Mail. So Calm the Champion, pickpocket the Mail by whatever means, and leave. Now you’re the new Champion and the previous one can continue his new life as a blacksmith. All the while, Boethiah’s been betrayed twice if you managed to save your follower from death. Take that!
For the sacrificing a follower thing I would choose Lydia. I'm getting real tired of her. She is always in my way and saying that sarcastic "I'm sworn to carry your burderns" remark. Yeah, she can go.

When it comes to the quest "Laid to Rest" if you happen to catch Hroggar after finding Helgi and killing Laelette, you can confront him and he will respond like his actually a Thrall. Dragonborn: "I saw your dead daughter." Hroggar: "That's nice." He'll even say that Laelette's husband beat her and that's why she left. I had no idea.
6:30 to be honest, when i first found this place i didnt even kno that it was painful to be in the dark XD i litterally said, "oh damn, its dark in here" and proceeded to use the candlelight spell lmao
Nate, I'm curious, I can not find an instance where anyone has just stolen the fragments of Wuuthrad without "wiping out the silver hand" during the mission "Purity of Revenge" for the companions. So I'm curious as to whether or not there is some sort of hidden dialogue should you sneak in and not kill anyone. It is an optional objective so I'm sure there is something Bethesda at least has or had planned.
On the Penitus Oculatus, I think there's another comment the guards can say as I once wore the armor and strolled around in Solitude when one of the guards outside of Castle Dour said that my armor was ugly (paraphrasing, don't remember the exact quote) which was pretty funny and unexpected.

I've got a few Dawnguard details for you, Nate. #1. In Fort Dawnguard, if you go to the room with the dogs, in the back you'll see a way to another area containing a drop into water. If you go down the drop, you'll find yourself in a kind of underground lake. Along one side will be a ramp that will put you through a crossbow training area. Throughout the obstacle course, you'll find decent loot with a lot of great loot at the end. #2. In Dimhollow Crypt, you'll find a word wall. Behind that word wall is a table with great loot. #3. When going through Castle Volkihar with Serana to look for her mother, you'll enter the castle garden with the moon dial. To the north of that area, you'll find the door to a room with tough enemies. After dispatching them, you can look around. At the end of the corridor at the bottom of the stairs, you'll find a door. Behind it is the remains of a strange creature half-buried in rubble. In its outstretched hand is a necklace. It looks like it's reaching for a gold ingot just out of its reach. 4. You don't have to take the boat to Castle Volkihar. You can actually swim to the island from the opposite shore without a loading screen.
Not sure if anyone every noticed this as well but if you don’t want to kill a follower like me, you can actually reanimate a corporate permanently and sacrifice them instead. It technically counts as a follower and you don’t lose any essential followers.
I'll be honest, when Boethiah calls for a sacrifice? I use console commands to turn Rolff's essential status off and take him from Windhelm to the pillar.
Bruh for the first one that’s literally how I’ve played the boethia quest line in all of my play throughs I didn’t even know I wasn’t supposed to murder them all first lol
I don't normally discover things before Nate posts them, but the Boethiah one he starts with I did know. In fact, on all of my playthroughs, I always get a quest in advance before going there and always find them hostile. The thing I learned from this video is that it is possible to talk to them before fighting lol (that may have been mentioned in a previous video now that I think of it though). The second one, I often encountered after a Vampire attack so I always assumed I must have inadvertently hit the person. Good to know that's not always the case. The third one, does sound familiar from my one playthrough of the Dragonborn DLC (most playthroughs I stop after Alduin becomes history, only done Dawnguard twice … even for Serana lol). And yes, it was annoying before discovering that. Fourth one, I definitely didn't know. Only joined the Dark Brotherhood on one playthrough for achievement collection. Normally Astrid dies for interrupting my sleep. Fifth is one I would have never found on my own since the only time I do the DLC's is after I finish the main quest. I know you don't have to do them in order, but … one of my idiosyncrasies lol.

Hey Nate, not sure if you ever covered this but I'm here to help. During the thieves guild questline, right after the guild discovered that Mercer stole from them. You get send to his house in Riften to find evidence where he is.
They warn you about his bodyguard Vald. Now most people probably just murdered him to death and finished the quest. But there is an option to talk to Vex where you learn that she dated him once. She tells you that he screwed up and Maven makes him work for mercer now guarding his home. If you go to Maven you have to option to fix his screw up and she will forgive his debt. You just have to find her quill that he lost. Afterward, you can just tell him she forgave his debt and he will give you there key and he will leave. There also the option to just lie to him and said that Mercer needs him in Markarth but that requires a speed check. Check it out: elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/Vald

My favorite thing I've ever had happen in Riften is that a thief randomly spawned and got cut down almost instantly by like five guards, before I ever got over there to help...and one of the guards that killed the thief turned around with blood on his blade and asked me "what do you know about this?" and I was like "dude I have not a drop of blood on my blade, wtf are you on".
The apocrypha one is definitely on purpose. That's why there is the floating light sources. You can get through the whole thing by moving underneath them and take no shadow damage.

Go to Blackreach, find the dwemer/dwarven sun sphere light, get on the roof nearby via the dungeon and shout Fus Ro Dah at the sphere and you will trigger a hidden dragon fight right in the Blackreach underground zone. Old news but maybe ya didn't know.

I never even knew the darkness caused any damage, probably because I used the Windwhirl shout all the time
Can we just talk about how damn cool Durnehviir is? He’s basically a zombie dragon, with I believe a unique shout that summons Bonemen, that can fight by your side. He’s technically not a follower in the game, but he is one in my heart.

I found Ralis Sedarys to be the perfect "sacrifice" to Boethiah. He has obviously been sacrificing workers to Ahzidal, yet you can allow him to live and he becomes a follower.

The last one is actually a bit interesting. If you haven't gone to see the Greybeards, but you've slain plenty of dragons and unlocked enough shouts, Durnehviir still won't know why he's granting you that title. Similarly, if you've already defeated Alduin, he makes sure you know how impressed he is with you.

I've actually done two of these! The first time I realized the darkness was sapping my health I started using light spells, and on several characters I have avoided the main quest while I explore the civil war or Dawnguard, just to see the differences. Thought that last one was a nice touch and bit of foresight on Bethesda's part!

Any single NPC...I did murder an East Imperial dude in the Warehouse to death while following the Argonian for the Thieves Guild. He just turned around, went over to the body and said "I will find whoever did this...". Like, I wasn't even sneaking.
For the sacrifice I just went to the drunken huntsman and hired a mercenary

When I had to do Boethiah's quest I just went to Riverwood and asked Sven to follow me. I didn't lose any followers and I got rid of Sven, win win for me.

One of my favorite mods RLO makes some places extremely dark and I love it, so I use torches all the time. My favorite example was encountering the skeleton dragon in Labyrinthian. The room was pitch black; you may as well have had your monitor turned off. It was so scary, casting a magelight and candlelight spell only to have them run out half way through battle and then being able to see nothing.

Another thing about that Durnehviir fact, he also has special dialogue if you've already beaten the main quest. He says something along the lines that news of Alduin's defeat has even reached the Soul Cairn, which indicates a massive level of interest in his death by the daedra.

the next few easter eggs based on star wars are in skyrim. i'll list them here for anyone interested. Star Wars
Inside of Frostfruit Inn, Erik can be heard talking to his father, with his father telling him, "All I ask is that you stay on for one more season," and "That's just your mother's side in you." This is a reference to Uncle Owen's conversation with Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Also, Calcelmo can be heard telling his nephew, Aicantar, "Next season for sure."
If you travel with the ghost of Lucien Lachance, he will sometimes say "I feel a disturbance in the void," which is very similar to the phrase "I feel a great disturbance in The Force," from the Star Wars movies which is often said by Force wielders.
Inside of Bleakcoast Cave (Eastern Winterhold), there is a skeleton hanging upside down from the ceiling. Below the skeleton is a glowing sword. This is a reference to Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back when Luke Skywalker was caught on Hoth and hung from the cavern ceiling. The sword below represents his lightsaber.
This is the second time Bethesda has put this Easter Egg in an Elder Scrolls game. A similar cave existed in Bloodmoon called Bjorn, referencing the scene in a similar manner.

I use Alternate Start mod to start off as a new Dawn guard member, and run through that storyline before Helgen. When I got that option with the dragon, I was seriously impressed with Bethesda's dev (s) for their foresight in adding all possibilities for that dialog. I've subsequently played this start nearly every time since, just because of that one little piece.
For the dead body one I just found that today, and for the apocrypha puzzle I saw the darkness hurt me and immediately thought "fuck yo darkness, mage light"

I’ve had guards confront me about the corpse thing when I was in stealth mode. I had my armor gigaenchanted with the sneak enchantment too. The guards can still find you in stealth mode if they get close to you, even if they wouldn’t normally be able to detect you, just like the courier can find you when he has a letter for you, regardless of how high your stealth skill is or how strong your sneak enchantments are and regardless of whether you’re under effects from a sneak potion. If a courier needs to find you, he can find you. If a guard is close to you, and that scenario begins, he/she can and will find you if you don’t get away in a hurry. Same with pickpocket attempts. There’s always at least a 10% chance of failure.

2:15 Here’s a third alternative, and one I think is very much in the spirit of this quest but also against Boethiah herself: play the quest normally up until the part where your sacrifice has been stuck to the pillar. Kill all the cultists except for one. That last cultist is pivotal. Now you must kill that cultist and your follower simultaneously or at least near so (it helps to get them next to each other). If done right, Boethiah will possess either your follower or the last cultist, but your follower comes out alive in all that. Just a note though, the follower’s inventory will be reset to default, so if you gave them anything you don’t want to lose, take it off them before telling them to touch the pillar. If the timing doesn’t work out, reportedly, Njada’s been known to come back to life not unlike Skjor sometimes.
Continuing this though, you don’t need to kill the former Champion. All the game is looking for is you getting the Ebony Mail. So Calm the Champion, pickpocket the Mail by whatever means, and leave. Now you’re the new Champion and the previous one can continue his new life as a blacksmith. All the while, Boethiah’s been betrayed twice if you managed to save your follower from death. Take that!
For the sacrificing a follower thing I would choose Lydia. I'm getting real tired of her. She is always in my way and saying that sarcastic "I'm sworn to carry your burderns" remark. Yeah, she can go.

When it comes to the quest "Laid to Rest" if you happen to catch Hroggar after finding Helgi and killing Laelette, you can confront him and he will respond like his actually a Thrall.
Dragonborn: "I saw your dead daughter."
Hroggar: "That's nice."
He'll even say that Laelette's husband beat her and that's why she left. I had no idea.

Nate, I'm curious, I can not find an instance where anyone has just stolen the fragments of Wuuthrad without "wiping out the silver hand" during the mission "Purity of Revenge" for the companions. So I'm curious as to whether or not there is some sort of hidden dialogue should you sneak in and not kill anyone. It is an optional objective so I'm sure there is something Bethesda at least has or had planned.
On the Penitus Oculatus, I think there's another comment the guards can say as I once wore the armor and strolled around in Solitude when one of the guards outside of Castle Dour said that my armor was ugly (paraphrasing, don't remember the exact quote) which was pretty funny and unexpected.

I've got a few Dawnguard details for you, Nate.
#1. In Fort Dawnguard, if you go to the room with the dogs, in the back you'll see a way to another area containing a drop into water. If you go down the drop, you'll find yourself in a kind of underground lake. Along one side will be a ramp that will put you through a crossbow training area. Throughout the obstacle course, you'll find decent loot with a lot of great loot at the end.
#2. In Dimhollow Crypt, you'll find a word wall. Behind that word wall is a table with great loot.
#3. When going through Castle Volkihar with Serana to look for her mother, you'll enter the castle garden with the moon dial. To the north of that area, you'll find the door to a room with tough enemies. After dispatching them, you can look around. At the end of the corridor at the bottom of the stairs, you'll find a door. Behind it is the remains of a strange creature half-buried in rubble. In its outstretched hand is a necklace. It looks like it's reaching for a gold ingot just out of its reach.
4. You don't have to take the boat to Castle Volkihar. You can actually swim to the island from the opposite shore without a loading screen.

I use the Smart Cast mod and have candlelight following me around continuously. It's the only way to play.
As an agent of nocturnal I must walk with the shadows.
They obviously don't have darker night.
Not sure if anyone every noticed this as well but if you don’t want to kill a follower like me, you can actually reanimate a corporate permanently and sacrifice them instead. It technically counts as a follower and you don’t lose any essential followers.

I'll be honest, when Boethiah calls for a sacrifice? I use console commands to turn Rolff's essential status off and take him from Windhelm to the pillar.
Bruh for the first one that’s literally how I’ve played the boethia quest line in all of my play throughs I didn’t even know I wasn’t supposed to murder them all first lol
I don't normally discover things before Nate posts them, but the Boethiah one he starts with I did know. In fact, on all of my playthroughs, I always get a quest in advance before going there and always find them hostile. The thing I learned from this video is that it is possible to talk to them before fighting lol (that may have been mentioned in a previous video now that I think of it though).
The second one, I often encountered after a Vampire attack so I always assumed I must have inadvertently hit the person. Good to know that's not always the case.
The third one, does sound familiar from my one playthrough of the Dragonborn DLC (most playthroughs I stop after Alduin becomes history, only done Dawnguard twice … even for Serana lol). And yes, it was annoying before discovering that.
Fourth one, I definitely didn't know. Only joined the Dark Brotherhood on one playthrough for achievement collection. Normally Astrid dies for interrupting my sleep.
Fifth is one I would have never found on my own since the only time I do the DLC's is after I finish the main quest. I know you don't have to do them in order, but … one of my idiosyncrasies lol.
