- we are so close to the moving day!!! so relived and happy to be done with apartment hunting and now the packing & moving chaos begins :). In this moving to nyc series (vol 9), we go through the ups and downs, prep for the move (setup utilities, renter's insurance, etc), sign the lease, pick up the keys for my new nyc apartment, my friends & sister come to my rescue & help me pack everything in two days 😬

I am in complete shock that you have to pay over $9k to move into an APARTMENT. That’s insane to me. Can’t wait to see the new place all done !
Right!? I paid 11k for my down payment for my mortgage/home. Just crazy how it works depending where you live. I’m glad I want the only one thinking.. oh my 😮😂

I’m so invested in this move. Move tip: when packing clothes, leave them hung up and drape a huge black garbage bags over them. Saves boxes, keep them organized, and easier to move. And then you can just put them in your closet at the new place and remove the garbage bag. Congrats on your new place. Can’t wait to see it all decorated.
Finally someone confirms this！When I move last year I tried this with my shirts and light coats and it save some much time and space. If it's a short distance move I may even just put them in my suitcases and bring them over with a few trips

I live in Houston, Tx and watching your vlogs I am in aww of the way apartment living works in NY😮. Here you find an apartment pay your deposit and move in. There y'all have open houses and seems like a bidding war. The whole brokerage fee and rent expenses is crazy. I guess it's true what they say..."if you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere"
I am totally shocked too. Those brokers fees need sorting out, terrible. No wonder so many homeless in USA. The Mayor Adams needs to sort this, as he sits in his million dollar mansion😮!!!!!!!! 🏴

I hate moving=stressful. Im always afraid something will get damaged, broken, or lost. Glad u took little moments to yourself to destress & stretch, self care is so important ❤

I moved into my 1 bedroom co-op in 1997 as a single female and never moved again. The key is to pick the neighborhood you love. I still love it here.
Those fees for renting are simply crazy. I decided that buying was cheaper than renting. You might consider buying next year when the market crashes.
I am SO HAPPY for you and the pup--you are finally going to have some sunshine! The lack of daylight in your current apt, reminded me of my own first solo apartment...oh, it was so dark and depressing. Can't wait to see you settle in to your lovely new home!

Yes me too. I think it's down scaling time especially for clothes. They say if you haven't worn an item for a year, it has to go to a charity shop (in 🇬🇧/thrift shop in USA 🇺🇸 😂. I wish her luck 🎉

Wow, it is very expensive to live in New York City in the area where you are moving. Now that you have the apartment, the hard work begins moving out and moving in to your new place. Good luck.
Tisha my dear sweet friend. I’m feeling your stress and pain. For over two weeks I’ve been going through my 3000 foot home and decluttering. I used those big black plastic bags for all the clothes and such. They are strong and holds a lot of items. I wish I’d told you about them. Saves room and can be smooched together 😂😂😂. I have the back of my Jeep completely filled with big black bags. Im so thrilled for this move. I worry for the 5 story walk up. But you are exercising more so you will be ok. Loved the vlog. Take your time and don’t get burned out. I love organizing. Wished I lived closer, I’d offer to do your apartment for you✌🏼💕

It's crazy how the amount it costs to move to an apartment is the amount as an earnest fee for purchasing a house! I moved last April from apartment to my own house and this brings back so much anxiety from packing and moving. We didn't sleep for 24 hours just to get it done ! I don't even remember where my Maltipoo was the whole time 😅.

If you are still in the process of packing/ moving now..... if you can get the boxes that stand taller and have a rod for your hangers, you will never, ever regret it........ so.much.better. For packing & for unpacking. All of your clothing will remain hung up & ready to put in to the new closet! : ).

Tish, it is finally happening, you are moving and I cannot wait to see how you decorate the place. I want you and your dog to have many happy hours in this new apartment. Moving is one of the most stressful things I think because we accumulate so much stuff, I am not moving but I am organizing my house and am parting with so much stuff that I still love but no longer use or need so it will all be donated. I’m moving also donated and sold so much stuff you don’t realize why we all have so much unnecessary things just give it away you feel less stressed anyway.
Happy you finally found an apartment. Just a not asked for opinion, lol, But your doggie is going to feel the stress of the move and being in a different place. I wish I had seen your video sooner. I could have given you some moving tips. Well, for next time. Pack everything in small boxes. They are easier to lift and move. They are easier for movers to stack and carry as well. If an item won't fit in a small moving box, use a trash bag or an IKEA blue bag unless it is fragile. Again, easier to transport. On every box, put what is in it, what room it goes into and use a colored sticker for the room. You can tell movers where to put which colored stickers. It will also help you when unpacking. I would have decluttered before your move, but, it doesn't look like you had time. A good time to review everything you own is when you unpack. Evaluate if you use it or wear it. If you don't have a need, or don't like it anymore, sell or donate it. It will make your life easier. Trust me. Live with your new place at least a month before you buy anything new. It helps to know how you will use the space before you buy new furniture and accessories. Enjoy your new home.

Did i miss what was wrong with the old apartment? I love visiting with you, watching you pack. That packing is a lot of work! My son is 31 and went to NY to visit and a conference. Its fun to see the NY sites, even laundry (which I couldn't carry). I am so excited for you to be in your new place.

I can’t imagine the cost of renting in NY. I am a Southern girl, SC. I did not understand. Do you get any of that money back that you pay out at the beginning or you get it back at the end that is so much money it is unreal.l love visiting NY. I follow a family, The Happy Caravan.
