Kento momota was world number one and won a record 11 international titles in 2019. On the way to the Kuala Lumpur airport, his van crashed into the back of a lorry at high speed. The van driver was killed. Kento momota was seriously injured. Since then, Kento has never been the same again. Kento usually lose in the early rounds to unseeded players. He can't overcome the psychological barrier. 😢😮😢😮
It wasn't just a psychological barrier, he caught covid once and sustained multiple back injuries as well. Might be the most tragic badminton player of all time.
Lindan footwork? i think his sense and reflex are overpowering than foot. if you want to learn footwork, let see LCW or MMT, but about reading match, prepare for kill shot, learn LinDan.
Now as I'm watching this I think I can see a little bit prime Momota in current Naraoka. This is my point of view as a new badminton fan because I wasn't there following and watching Momota's journey. I wish Momota will be making his come back because he is same age with Axelsen. Even Axelsen is still on fire now until Paris 2024, and point for Paris 2024 start on May 2023. The one who can beat Axelsen is Momota based on head-to-head records. I hope Momota will be back and sparring together with Naraoka. Sorry my bad englishhh
Nah, this vid shows exactly why Momota was king of jazz for such a short while. His style is based on such precision that the slightest percent off is fatal. Unlike Axelsen, who was born taller and stronger, momota had to rely on practically zero error. Short peak
Tbh I don think it was the accident anymore that caused momots to dropped form. Something actually happen to his body, he was still winning after the accident. Don’t blame the accident anymore. I think the main reason is not that anymore
His main problem was his vision not his body. He had double vision from the crash (sure he had surgery but was probably never 100%) which meant his judgment of where the shuttle was got worse. He still played fine, still had decent technique but imagine not being able to judge as cleanly the shuttle compared to 2018-2019. That probably ruined his confidence and it went downhill.
Perhaps he was better than Lin dan and LCW ...or at least at par with them ..had he not met that fatal accident that cut short his great career ! Love him but also feel sorry about him

Not only momota, LZJ too can defeat Axelsen if he plays like he did in 2021AE open finals. Younger players like Tze Yong, Naraoka and even Li Shi Feng too have a serious chance if they put their best
his strong point is footwork and court control. he was too fast vs the rest, that made his opponents are kind of losing control and end up losing point by making mistake

This Momota's footwork is just artwork
Indeed
one of the best videos in terms of quality of game and also the angle it was captured..good work..

Momota at his prime was really the best after Lin dan and LCW
The fact that he is even compared with prime Lin Dan speaks volumes about how good he is
@@user-gz7fh8vo6e優劣で議論が起こることがよくあるが全盛期のリンダンと比べるという土俵にいるのがすごい
I would say he is on par with LCW in his prime, slightly lower in LD though
i miss the old kento momota , his smashes was the most precise , but now he only clears or drops his overhead shots
He never made a single mistake at that time perfect badminton.
This Momota had the 2008 Lin Dan confidence. So dominant, so precise. Shame what happened to him.
Yes I agree. Even his play style was a little similar to Lindans. I mean in his shot choice
he had a terrible accident didn’t you know? look up
@@ishooter8061 i said shame bro i think that implies I know what happens to him
@@gouahh359 oops sorry i read in a rush
He had the endurance and consistency just to wait for his opponents to screw up
what an excellent camera view. Enjoyed to the fullest.
It's always this angle where I can appreciate the speed of the smash
True.... Every second counts...😊
Kento Momota announces his retirement on the 18th. I'll remember you forever, my favorite badminton player of all time.
you can see the absolute difference. man was a beast. hope he can find his form back
In car crash accident he is nearly killed on 13 jan 2020 after that he is still playing such a consistent player ❣️
That stare from CTC at 7:13 was colddd. He was annoyed that Momota wanted to trick him lol
3:39 ここのラウンドのフォーム綺麗、そして体幹がすごい
Both players were unbelievable at the time
Chou is still really consistent and now this year he is on the second place in rank after axelsen
I know, but Chou faced in 2019 Momota's best form, one of his best performance
Brilliant angle. Probably the best on youtube. Do you have more vids like these?
The 2018 momota is simply unstoppable
He was so low to the ground. It also looks like he's levitating, his footwork is immaculate.
I can watch his footwork all day long!!
11 titles in a single season no one cuf of tea.. 🤯
the tea and the cuf
momota's footwork reminding me of lin dan's footwork, smooth and steady
Lindan footwork? i think his sense and reflex are overpowering than foot. if you want to learn footwork, let see LCW or MMT, but about reading match, prepare for kill shot, learn LinDan.
@@Himmil-HanaLin Dan has one of the best footwork. His movement in deep forehand corner is much better than lcw.
Momota the Footwork master.
So the focus is on Momota and his prime then his opponent Chou was on his prime stage too to be able to sparring with him.

Yeah same goes to kodai
This camera angle shows exactly how difficult and exhausting the badminton footwork is.
この時の桃田はマジで無駄のない動きだしショットにも無駄がない、エグい

Victor has a way losing h2h against kento and only became better after his injury, his really lucky kento got injured or he be lcw to kento s Lin Dan
if Momota didn't get hurt, no one would know VA. The man was 0-12 in professional matches against Momota pre-injury.
Can you share the link to full match. I am not able to find it on the source channel.
Smoth footwork
I feel like there's no way to make it difficult for momota
Why cut off Momota's losing 2nd game?
今と動きが全然違う、、、コート内走ってるって感じしててすごい、、、

do you have 2nd set?

Momota won. It’s a 3set game. Ctc also beat him in set2
Mark my worďs he's coming back and so is his prime
I pray he will

the best
It looks like the current players on top play much more and better smashes and attacking shots nowadays.
its mainly axelson and lzj with tremendous smashes

He couldve dominated like lindan did
Momota met a terrible accident and that’s how he lost his old form and power. bad luck
The accident made him stopped playing badminton for 1 year, thus his physical level dropped.

His feat is better lmao Mr. Oldplayerglazer. If no such bad thing happens to him, he would have won Olympics like lindan did
I'm sorry but prime Momota 110% it's just 75% prime LD n LCw .... Maybe... Maybe prime Momota as same as prime Peter Gade 25 - 30 years old
