Hey Chris, U R my hero! I'm an old guy thinking of wrapping my car and your videos have inspired me to do the task! Keep up the great work on your videos! AWESOME!
Hi Chris, I have finally learned the art of heat, stretching, tooling. I am determined. It tool me an hour to do one headlight 😂 I've been following your tips, but truly the vinyl has to be a personal connection with the detailer. It's hard work. I'm proud of my work for a first timer. Next wraps will be even better.
Your racks turned out professional looking nice job! And thanks for the knifeless how to! And weeding through the brands to use one that works well at getting the job done!
Was trying to decide between the JSW and 3M knifeless tapes (first time buying wrap/tools/equipment) thanks for the video! You just saved me $30! Also have purchased a roll of Vvivid Matte Metalic Black (Ghost) for my first attempt at wrapping after watching one of your other vids. Have learned so much from your vids so far! Enough to feel confident to attempt to wrap my own vehicle. Kudos and thanks.
I'm a complete beiginner and had no idea what brands to get but luckily I had chosen a roll of JSW I saw on ebay. I am at the practice stage - ok so far! Useful video, thanks.
Wrap cut worked well for my bags on my motorcycle. There is some benefits in certain situations. I'm definitely gonna try the knock off though. Thanks for the info, as always you sir are the man!
Good descriptive video mate! I just visited 3m’s channel and it was so rushed and full of lingo I didn’t learn much but yours are easy to follow and learn from so Cheers!
I was told by John Duever (of The Wrap Institute)while in training last month that the 3m tape knifless tape was invented by a friend of his then sold to 3m.

Hi Chris, I am from Cape Town South Africa and I enjoy watching your videos. Been keen on wrapping my Golf vii myself, now I have the tools to do so. Thanks a lot for all the videos...keep it coming!!
Actually stumbled upon this by accident; by reading/searching in a hurry to reorder 3m finish line & this was ordered by mistake. Used it, & ended up liking it....so, I keep buying(did get a “bad” roll once though, & customer service was great. Sent out replacement (told me to throw out or keep item I had) same day, & had next day. Also bought the “red” brand before too.....still have a full roll, well, did try using it once...so it’s missing maybe a foot, & sitting in my drawer 😉 L8R 👊🏻
I'm a beginner and while I'm watching this video, I'm trying to tape my inner door handle inlay, which has a 35 degree angle in it, using finish line. I'm tearing my hear out and getting heated when I hear you say that finish line isn't meant for that stuff. That project is hold for the moment haha. Thanks for the info.
FYI, the cheap knockoff brand 50M is jacked up in price, now $27, from $19 earlier this morning. I'll stick with the real thing and avoid these shady dealers.
Not sure how you're paying high $30's for 3M, can get ours for $27 for the 50m roll. Have used, and still do, the JSW Chinese brand and it works well enough but the glue is definitely inferior. Ours came in a box package labelled designline. Not a bad tape but for the cost difference I'd stick with 3M's.
I found that wrapcuts adhesive was pretty poor when i tried a roll of it. I just assumed maybe it was manufactured in the states and maybe the adhesive strength had worn off through sitting in a warehouse and shipping time. But it really wouldn't stick at all. Couldn't manage to even bend it ever so slightly for a number plate recess. Design line has never been an issue for me though and I've seen this jsw brand on Ebay, i might give it a go next time 😁
The larger roll you linked doesn't appear to be the same "5M"... Also, what were the original prices on each as they have appeared to change since I looked early this morning. I don't see any 1/4th the price compared to 50M 3M at just under $25
I’ve used the red and green 3m, the red stuff is complete crap! It’s a mess and breaks soo easily wasting time trying to dig it out. 3m works but like u said it’s insane expensive for a product that u use for few mins then trash it. I’m not for knock offs but hey they don’t care about anything but money so it’s their jobs to stop knock offs. If there is something cheaper than works then heck yea I’m gonna use it. Great vid like usual brutha telling it how it is!
i use those cheap knock off ones for not so fussy jobs and it gets the job done. problem with it is some of them the filament separates from the green plastic, also not sticking as much
Been ordering some things this weekend to get my xc70 done on the weekend of the 4th. I hope I don't need any knifeless to do it. I'll be getting me some of that.
I tried the JSW recently but made the mistake of trying it with PPF. I didn't realize there was a separate PPF version available until after my bad experience. I hadn't used it again since but, after seeing your video, I will definitely start using it. Thanks for all you do. Incidentally, I need to wrap the rear view mirror shells on my vehicle but they are seriously curved in all 3 axes. Do you have a video that covers this issue, please?
At the time I purchased a 3m 50m roll it cost 24 roughly and now this is 23. So for me with a $1 difference I'd rather not save the dollar unless I need it to make designs. Still a phenomenal video though.
Thanks for showing this. I had got some wrap cut when I made an order through Vivvid and that stuff is trash! It was the first time I used cutting tape and was super pissed when it wouldn’t work like I seen in your videos. Never will I buy that stuff again. Definitely going buy some of the 5M stuff
Normally I agree with you nearly 100% of the time. This time is a huge exception. You threw away the piece that was cut with WrapCut, didn't show the result, and specifically said not to use it. I use WrapCut 90+% of the time. I've learned to hate 3M for a few reasons, and saw similar symptoms with the imitation product. (Accurate imitation I guess) WrapCut has a much better adhesive. When us non godlike installers have to reposition our film, the 3M tape often moves too... which entirely defeats its purpose, and has to be redone... while I've only had WrapCut move once, and it shifted a very small amount, for about one inch of the tape, so it was a quick and painless fix. You comment about liking 3M because it's easier to begin pulling. While this is technically true, it is also a problem. When you're relying on that 'fold it and snap it' method, one of three things happens, in my experience. 1. It does what it's supposed to. 2. The filament ends up bunching up the carrier instead of actually cutting through it. (sometimes a combination of cutting and bunching) 3. Since it's easy to start... it also likes to rip. 3M and the knockoff both leave two pieces (1/16" each) on the vehicle. One of those is under the finished vinyl. When removing it, you are pulling the edge back up, which allows for additional contamination. It also (especially in curves and bends) can lead to the carrier snagging the film, which defeats the purpose of getting a clean cut, if removing the garbage, ruins that edge. WrapCut isn't that hard to start. It is inconvenient, but not bad, especially once you've used it a few times, instead of just writing it off... I don't pick it off, like you mentioned. I cut the thicker side of the carrier. (Not the side that the filament is on) Then I snap it like the 3M tape. Then you get the stronger filament, better adhesive, and a 'snap' start. Depending on the angle that you 'snap' the WrapCut, you can pull the filament through the carrier, or you can 'snap' ir at an angle, at the filament will actually cut from the side of the carrier. That also eliminates your complaint about the filament being offset, and being a problem to lay stripes, since it's not centered. Instead of lining up the center of the tape, which can be hard to do, when following body lines especially, you line up the edge of the tape to where you want to cut. This way you can see the line you are following, and have a predictable, quality, cut. I'm also confused how you said that wrap cut can't curve at all.... I did my whole car with WrapCut. It is rounding edges, curving body lines, and I had no problems. It curves without any real problem, and if you want it to curve an unnecessary amount, you can cut the non-filament edge of the tape, and bend it as much as you want. I was impressed with how much the "5M" tape curved, but it still gave you trouble when it ripped. I'd be curious tipp play with the flexibility of the"5M" product, as that was more curving, than the WrapCut UNLESS you cut the carrier off the WrapCut. I think that you're rulling out WrapCut too quickly... especially if you're impressed by 3M. You made it sound like 3M is great, and it's great that "5M" is inexpensive.
I've used Wrapcut hundreds of times and this is my experience verses other cut tapes. There wasn't a purpose in showing a close-up that the Wrapcut made a clean cut. I said that it did make a clean cut but was unable to bend as well as Finish Line. Cutting the carrier or plucking the filament from the carrier with a blade runs the risk of hurting yourself or even the paint, kind of defeats the purpose of "no knife" I saw the price for as low as $8.99 for 50m. I appreciate your perspective on this, and thank you for sharing it. It's good that you've posted your experience, it'll allow others to make a decision based off of two opinions and not only one
Hi I enjoy your video's because I just wrapped my first guitar amplifier and now I'm interested in doing a guitar. I see video's of guys wrapping a guitar but there not wrapping the back side. ABITIBI, None yet, I've been looking. What we COULD do is wait until Christopher's filming......run up behind him, grab HIS hat, and run like hell ! Ü Nah, he's way too nice of a guy to do that to. Besides, he can probably outrun both of us, then we have real trouble. LOL Christian, you got your sleeve done ! Looks great, Man. One less thing for people to bitch about. Nice colors. Thanks for the vid on knife-less tape. I've wondered which one you like best. Question answered. My best, Scott
Hey I got a ? Ck wrap what happened if you get pull over by the cops and your paper work say you have a white car but is wrap in a different color not sure if any of your customers ever had that issue
You should change the color of your vehicle on your vehicle ownership. You can get a ticket for not doing so if you've covered majority of the original color
I didn't notice it being easy to break but I myself am a bit more experienced when using the design line so I don't often have breaking issues. I'll give the knockoff brand a try for its strength and report back
From what I see it's 19.99 for this vs 27.60 for real 3m. I guess that's an OK discount, but for me I'd rather give my money to 3m than a Chinese knockoff.
I find it funny that the wrap cut didn't give you any trouble and the others did and you said not to use the wrap cut and use the others. Lol. Personally I haven't had any trouble with wrap cut as long as I pay attention to which side I am putting down the filament on. I like it and have been able to get it to curve as well. Great video aside from that.
The wrapcut gave me more trouble when I tried to curve it, it wouldn't curve at all. I pushed passed the limit on the Finish Line and also the knockoff brand
@@CKWraps I have been using it on the curves on my scooter wrap and it has been a champ for me. Your videos have been awesome BTW. Wouldn't be able to do an inlay without them.
The only thing I hate about 3M is that they copy from others , that's why they are so much expensive just because it just say 3M on it, don't get me wrong they do have lots of great products in the market today ,but just hope they stop over pricesing what they copy from others just to make a profit
The Chinese tape isn't called "5M". They write "5M" or "5m" in the title to indicate the length of 5 meters. You better buy it on AliExpress which is usually cheaper than eBay. As of today, you can find 50 meters for about $20 on AliExpress. Compared to 3M tape, you do the math...
50 M roll of this tape on amazon 23.99 50 M Roll of 3m finishline (made for curves) from Wensco 24.56 no sense using knock off to save only 57 cents :(

OutatimeTV it’s called a 50% deposit. Non negotiable. I’m not paying money out of my pocket for your wrap.
Find a more professional way to say that. Never been an issue for me.
Don't Be Stupid that’s a very good way to phrase it. Thank you! I’ve been tryna figure out a way to put it and that didn’t even cross my mind lol
I always say 50% deposit to confirm a spot and cover material cost
Christian, thanks for the videos, they are gooood, but 3M design line or finish line 50m cost 30$, almost same?!
UPD: found on Ali 2 x 5m / 5,24$ + delivery
They raised the prices as soon as this video hit.....
What was the price? The two links in the video don't look like the same knockoff brand. The small roll is "5M"
hey man, the tape on Amazon is (23.99) and Designline is (29.99) so there's really only a $5.00 difference
Does the 5M tape allow sharp angle bends, like 90°?
Also, the "5M" is not actually the knockoff brand name, it's actually for 5 meters of tape.
ABITIBI,
None yet, I've been looking. What we COULD do is wait until Christopher's filming......run up behind him, grab HIS hat, and run like hell ! Ü Nah, he's way too nice of a guy to do that to. Besides, he can probably outrun both of us, then we have real trouble. LOL
Christian, you got your sleeve done ! Looks great, Man. One less thing for people to bitch about. Nice colors. Thanks for the vid on knife-less tape. I've wondered which one you like best. Question answered.
My best,
Scott
Thanks
I know this video is old, but 3M is now cheaper on Amazon
I’m wanting to do a two tone on my camaro can I do this with wrap? And how
How when 3m knifeless tape was made in Canada i get it for very cheap
Hey I got a ? Ck wrap what happened if you get pull over by the cops and your paper work say you have a white car but is wrap in a different color not sure if any of your customers ever had that issue
You should change the color of your vehicle on your vehicle ownership. You can get a ticket for not doing so if you've covered majority of the original color
@@CKWraps wow thanks for your reply appreciate it I was wondering about that thanks great videos
This man is a tanman.
Does the 5M break as easily as design line?
I didn't notice it being easy to break but I myself am a bit more experienced when using the design line so I don't often have breaking issues. I'll give the knockoff brand a try for its strength and report back
You know Knifeless Tech Industries is still available on amazon also.....
Pretty sure it's all owned by 3m. I'm unsure of their being a shelf life to it but they might have one
@@CKWraps I'm sure the adhesive will always have a shelf life but I figure since you were talking about it I'd let you know
From what I see it's 19.99 for this vs 27.60 for real 3m. I guess that's an OK discount, but for me I'd rather give my money to 3m than a Chinese knockoff.
Merci !
Thank God Honey got you a Cart, now, what did you get her???? Oh, I second the hat request and I also want to buy a shirt .....
Terry Kazmierczak all of this content 💛
@@keirstenabc I like the videos but I'd also like to see you in them more...
Terry Kazmierczak not my call, I make some cameos here and there. ☺️ so we’ll see! I guess until then just keep watching his stuff!
@@keirstenabc I'll do that for sure. He is indeed an artist....PERFECT!!!
Enjoy using 3M knifeless tape and also using Wrapcut (cheaper) knifeless tape. Best I've used as of now.
In the states it is not a good deal. $22.99 for mock and $24.70 for the real deal. Not sure why Canada is stealing from you.
Thanks for the video - I bought Wrap Cut because of the price, not again!
11 dislikes had to be 3m fanboys haha good video
No longer available
The Chinese tape isn't called "5M". They write "5M" or "5m" in the title to indicate the length of 5 meters. You better buy it on AliExpress which is usually cheaper than eBay. As of today, you can find 50 meters for about $20 on AliExpress. Compared to 3M tape, you do the math...
You got any monsters?
Have you gone to 3M training yet? I just got back from mine. I went to Lowen in Hutchinson KS. How did you do on the test?
50 M roll of this tape on amazon 23.99
50 M Roll of 3m finishline (made for curves) from Wensco 24.56
no sense using knock off to save only 57 cents :(
Ferrari for 1/4 the price, it's called the 2020 Corvette.
The 5M actually stands for 5 meters. Their other tapes are 10M and 50M
China doesn't give a shit about patents, 3M will never find that guy.
Watch WrapCuts go out of business after this video.. lol. If Christian calls your wrap product out, time to prepare to lose most of your customers lol
Are you selling your own product to us? Id probably pay for the 3M for that difference.
I don't own any of these products but did find the off brand for as low as $9 for 50m
still asking what's going on? LOL.
ViVvid Wrapcut is crap. I get why you danced around calling vivvid out.
7M coming soon?
