We are buying a Booner 6 panel blind from Menards and this video was very helpful in figuring the lumber and other materials to buy. At first we were going to use 3/4 treated plywood but seeing that you used 2x6's for the floor we will go that route. We used to go shotgun hunting for deer in Dec. but a lot of the big bucks were taken in the Oct-Nov archery season. So I bought a crossbow and with this blind maybe will have better luck. Thanks for the video!
I bought the same one 3 years ago 4 similar price. My setup is similar to yours. I love this blind. This last deer season I the up of mi I haD many deer walk by within 10 ft of me. Once one walked by the blind so close I could have touched her!! Scent control is not a problem. I've even sneezed and they looked and went to browsing again. So noise control is good too. I watch movies on my laptop without earphones! Your observations o windows was exactly the same as mine are. I would and have bragged/recommended it to everyone I talk to. Thanks for video and confirming my observations....
Thanks for another informative video on your blinds! You make some great modifications! Its larger on the inside than it looks. I have a platform very similar to yours that I had a tent on for years. Tents now shot and I am going to do something new. Thanks for the ideas and good luck hunting!!
mark pro I’m pretty happy with that Menards blind the next month or so I will do a review of the blind my brother built for his spot elevated quite high and completely different building but he is very anal when it comes to building stuff good luck to you this season also getting ready to come to an end sooner than later
Enjoyed the video. Like the idea of buying a blind and customizing it yourself. Saving a ton of money! Too many blinds out there are now ridiculous on price and people can see from your video that you can make a decent blind for a fraction of the price.
Captain Joe's Angling Adventure's I put the rubber paddin which I think is better than carpet imo and I think the plastic holds the scent inside better
Great video with some good, helpful commentary. I have looked at that blind at Menards. It is too flimsy for my taste, but to each his own. I decided to build my own blind in the usual method....2x4 framed walls and siding. Keep up the great content and best of luck to you this season!
Thanks Danny, yes the Booner was pretty flimsy but I added some wood to stiffen it up but yes stick built is a great way to go. I looked at better constructed but better equals more money. Thanks for watching and I hope ya had a chance to subscribe
The blind is easy to put up and take down. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxvlQxmcZQzSQSYbJsEgAGvG2DaduKTV99 As a female hunter, the ease of placing and setting up the blind is a plus. It’s more of a wind barrier than a warm quilted blind. Which makes it a lot lighter than our quilted blind. I enjoyed the larger windows/openings. Made for a successful season. It has held up well for the first season and the stitching looks good.
I purchased Maxxed outdoor windows to replace the windows this blind comes with. It's been a 100 times better to hunt since I installed them. I also secured the blind to the platform by screwing 2x4 at bottom of each panel.
I have 2 of these and they both leak terribly, the wind goes thru it in our northern winters and I am trying to configure how to insulate and wind proof it.
I really liked your video. Thanks for the honest review. I have some Menards gift cards that I was looking to use for hunting related items. Subscribed!
When you originally put it together you would put the windows vertical instead of horizontal, so yes you could. There are some blind spots in the blind
I have the 4 panel Booner blind- it's a little tight but I make it work. Really like it, and I would like a bit of a shelf inside under the windows. How did you attach the 2x4's inside? What do you use to keep the windows up? Thanks!
Jerome C I glued 2x4s with construction adhesive on the inside and then I screwed them from the outside with drywall screws and fender washers, which built the frame then the plywood on top
@@CharleyThePlumber Hey Charley excellent video! I bought one and I'm going to 2x4 reinforce similar to what you did. Finished my platform and floor this weekend. QUESTION: So how is it holding up 3 years later??? Anything else I should modify that you found after you hunted a few seasons now? Thanks very much. Awesome video Sir.
It’s a good blind but needs the aftermarket stuff like I did. Because out of box it’s somewhat flimsy. I bolted n nut together they sent self tapping screws
A man who had the exact same one as he had a horrible wasp infestation when he went to open it up fo hunting season…..im assuming they entered during the gaps u showed that were too big for silicone..just a heads up…he also had rugs he would put on the floor for noise muffleing. Looks like fun to hunt in that….id like to camouflage mine if I had one…..
When you say moved are you talking to blind location? If so then yes but I bolted my blind together on location I did not use the self-tapping screws provided
I love the blind and where we hunt it does not get a ton of snow but with it being black it stays pretty warm so it will melt off I think the thing that will kill this blind is the UV ray

Thanks Douglas, I’ve got this itch for a new blind with larger windows. We will see
You could use expandable foam in a can for those corners.

Yep the Booner blind was 500 ish, a few 2x4s, bag of bolts n nuts etc. the most was the platform it sits on
For future plexiglass projects..dremel tool...stone ball bits,or rounded cone...
Fixing to order one myself and plan on doing pretty much the same layout.. Flip up windowss with egg creat styl foam on walls for Sound Deading.

Hi Charlie, I have the same blind you have. I wanna make my windows like yours. Is that a magnet that Hold it
@gary7280 they sell some extremely strong magnets on Amazon you should be able to get
Love it! Very durable and well made

I have also anchored my blind pretty much the same way. I will have to look into the windows, thanks for the tip
They also make rain guards for their windows. I'll be adding solar panel.
Great video Charley and many helpful tricks and tips. Good hunting from Hale/Whittemore area.
Nice. I hunt north of oscoda. This works for me
So far it's been a good blind for me. Very little complaints
I have 2 of these and they both leak terribly, the wind goes thru it in our northern winters and I am trying to configure how to insulate and wind proof it.
I have actually got a new blind last fall, fully insulated, but the Booner I siliconed all joints and tops

Thank you , I will be using it again this weekend. It is a great blind for the money. Also thanks for subscribing
How did you connect the blind to the platform?
I used lag screws with big fender washers
Awesome job!
Thanks,it’s been a good blind
What part of up north are you at?
We are between augres n whitimore
Hi Charlie. I'm Jodi. NICE TO MEET YOU
Can you hunt with a compound out of it??

how well does the door seal when you close it? Thanks!
There is a weather strip that keep it pretty tight, and when I bought it I paid 500.00 so it has been a great bargain
Looks like a great spot. What county are you in in MI?
Nice video bud!
I still use the blind 3 years later. Considering upgrading this year to something bigger
How's the hunt going so far Charley?
Joe Le Blanc hunting is always awesome, it’s not always about the kill more about the chase

How is this blind holding up? I am thinking about getting one but the one I saw, the roof was really warped.
Mine has been awesome, still use it yearly
@@CharleyThePlumber how is retaining heat?

@@CharleyThePlumber yeah, I went to look at one last night and my wife said that I need to beef it up. Thank you for your review!
I love the tinted windows on them
Great video! Might have to check out this blind
Zack Thom it’s a great blind imo, the best for the money

Yes I had wasps last year in it, had to spray them with starting fluid. The camo would be a nice option if it came from booners
Can this be moved easily by yourself
When you say moved are you talking to blind location? If so then yes but I bolted my blind together on location I did not use the self-tapping screws provided
@@CharleyThePlumber thanks
Hope a big wind don't blow that blind off.
As they say it’s glued, screwed and tattooed to the base
Good video bud
thanks Steve, also thanks for stopping by the channel and i hope you got a chance to subscribe
Well done video, how does this blind hold up to snow load ? Do you put in a center post/brace when not using? Thanks
