Battletoads GBA - New Footage (Cancelled Game)

- Once again, Rarewarecentral is going to release this ROM in a week. Don't expect much, this game was only in production for three weeks before it was cancelled. So I decided to record some new footage of it!

Level 1 - Seems to be a new level loosely based on Ragnarok Canyon
Level 2 - Arctic Caverns with updated graphics and unfinished collision detection.
Level 3 - Ragnarok's Canyon with NES Graphics
Level 4 - Ragnarok's Canyon only with graphics to tell the player where he could walk on.
Level 5 - Psyko Pig really become Psyko because they throw other heads at you.
Level 6 - A couple of platforms, nothing too exciting
Level 7- Arctic Caverns without the GBA graphics.
Level 8 - Mode 7 area which was meant to temporally use the Diddy Kong Pilot graphics. It would be used for racing sections like Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge III.
Thank goodness it was canceled......
I like how the Battletoad makes a Banjo grunt when jumping.

Man this is so weird to see just early concepts of a game being done before it's canceled. But it's very fascinating.
the character model was probably a placeholder to be replaced with an actual battletoad. 3 weeks of development is jack shit.
Man, If this was fully completed, the story goes like this
Years ago, 3 Game testers began Working on the game, Battletoads. When they Leave to work on the headsets, theyre teleported to the battletoads universe and the rest is history. One day, The dark queen captures the Battletoads and at the same time, a young coder, marcus neilson, notices that the 3 Game testers went missing so he goes to the machine to find out that zitz rash and pimple are all captured. He barely recognizes them so he started to modify and hack the headsets that were in the machine to become buff and enter the universe. It sort of backfired and he's a Weaker Toad named Wart. Now with no time to spare, the Dark Queen Sends a bunch of her minions to stop wart. With Wart's Brains and Physical Strength, he'll Rescue his Froggy friends and become a hero!
Hey I also have that same name idea for a fourth battletoad member name Wart years ago and he has dark yellow skin and his height is somewhere between zitz and pimple
Read the article in the description. They basically just say those were placeholder models to have something moving on screen.
They worked 3 weeks on it.. What you expect? If they worked 2-3 months on it and cancelled it.. then it might have looked better.
Well at least a Battletoad made it into the Killer Instinct roster lol
Another great release from RareWareCentral.
I can't think of any other Rareware GBA game that they haven't released yet.
For Battletoads, this game looks very primative. They didn't even work on the levels past the ice caves, and they used Banjo's voice from Grunty's Revenge as a placeholder for the toad's voices. It also looks like they were using the NES levels for reference, or as extra stages. Does this mean this was going to be a remake of the NES game?
I hope more protos come out!
Actually, I believe this is the only prototype of this game that was ever made.
I think the Frogger icon for the character was also a placeholder. The Frogger company might sue them for using that Frogger icon. I do not know which company originally used that Frogger icon.

Damn, this would have been amazing if completed! Such a shame it was cancelled. Would have been the best looking Battletoads game to date probably(well, other then the arcade version.)
@GuyWithASword You can control the background with A and B and scroll using the D pad. It can create some pretty crazy effects like what you saw there.
@gabrielwojcikiewicz It's just a placeholder. I do that all the time with my stuff before the correct assets are ready. This was made in three weeks after all.
Lol, is Banjo's sound clip the place holder for the character?
I've realized the toad's voice was taken from Banjo.
@Herman0709 I don't know, it's not up to me. I was given them in advance but I promised them I wouldn't release it. I wasn't even allowed to talk about it until they did first. I don't go back on promises. There's some other cool stuff coming up as well that'll will blow your mind.

the redesing reminds me of Jazz JackRabbit for GBA
it's the fourth, not so cool battletoad the others didn't want anybody to know about.
They're not bitching about it because it's incomplete, they're complaining because this "battlefrog" looks nothing like the original Battletoads. Wearing more clothes, less muscular, doesn't turn his limbs into cool attacks like buzzsaws or hammers or drills. It's a joke compared to the originals.
Have you heard of what a place holder is?
@homshiba The engine is extremely unstable so if I wanted to do battletoads on the GBA I'd probably just start from scratch.
I probably would do the same instead of remaking what was already in the other games. After a couple of new versions, then remake a classic game.

I think one of the reasons this was canceled was because that Rare was kille- sorry I meant l bought by Microsoft
