Thank you for your video and explanations. I have two questions. 1) After setting the polyethylene sheet on top of the ridge, shouldn't I make some tiny holes through it, in order to let some air in, and avoid dry weeds underneath to go rotten? 2) When do you get rid of the polyethylene sheet?
1. No need for holes because enough air can get in from underneath the plastic sheet (air moves through topsoil). The weeds underneath the sheet will rot and decompose as the bacteria and fungi eat them; that’s part of the process :) 2. Once there is enough life in the soil to hold the soil together in light clumps (known as soil aggregates), then the soil should be able to manage moisture levels on its own. You want the soil to naturally stick together in water as with the rainwater runoff demonstrations that often compare what happens to tilled soil vs untilled soil when clumps are placed in water. That demonstration (along with Toshimichi Yoshida’s demonstration) can both be seen in NHK’s “Carbon Farming” documentary (free on TH-cam). Have fun!

What is the width and thickness of the polyethylene sheet and how wide is the soil ridge? Thanks for posting this!
