The phone mount I use is the Rennline magnetic mount. It's gonna be about 50 bucks. www.rennline.com/VW-MK75-ExactFit-Magnetic-Phone-Mount/productinfo/PM01.21/ (also different generations of GTI/ other cars)
MQB platform Audi's have a lot of Volkswagen in them. As do Seat and Skoda variants. I'd say out of all of the cars under in the VAG sphere, Audi does a heck of a lot of its own R&D, but in terms of the cheaper scale vehicles like the A3/S3/RS3/Q2/A1 etc. etc. They use the Volkswagen parts bin. As for this GTi. I think we can all pretty much appreciate that saying it has a lot of Audi in it is a massive oversell. But we are taking all of this from a video made by a guy who recommends we buy K&N air filters, mobile phone holders and extended paddle shifters for our Golf GTi's as a first. What a load of fucking content bloat. The K&N will do nothing for the car, the mobile phone mount is null considering MOST of the MQB platform Golf's have Android and iOS connectivity, and the extended paddles... Meh? I digress. Rant over.
I literally just put my deposit down today on my first GTI. I’ve always wanted one from a young age so I’m excited to finally be owning one. Can’t wait to explore the mods and these seem like nice little starters for sure!
This series came right on time 😂 got a 2015 GTI 3 months ago, and after driving stock for a good amount of time, I’m now looking for more things to do with it, including a tune
So far I've done paint correction with ceramic coat on my 7.5 white silver metallic, Michelin PS5s, clubsport alcantara steering wheel, next up performance calipers, vented discs and probably Oz ultraleggeras. Clubsport mats, if I can find a RHD set. Happy with stock ride height and power, so that will probably be it, maybe a stage 1 tune, not much else, want to keep a stock / OEM vibe
I came back to this video to check out the paddle shifters you got. Bought the exact same ones. Super solid! A smidge of play in them but that’s probably totally normal. So much better than spending 200 on the “named” brands.
3 best mods in terms of bang for buck? 1. New tires, the OEM Pirellis really hold the car back, it's a different car on Firestone Indy 500s. 2. Big-bore turbo inlet pipe for increased throttle response and a touch more power. 3. K&N filter, also for increased throttle response and a few extra ponies. Also recommend ripping out the snow guard when you install this. Those 3 things and the car definitely wakes up. I also spent another $50 on a silicone intake hose when I did the turbo inlet/K&N install. You pretty much don't need a $500 intake with the last mods mentioned above.
This should have been titled "if you bought a DSG" -- if you bought a 6 spd (like me, on purpose because of course) then the first three mods should be a Boomba short shift kit, removing the clutch spring and installing a clutch travel stop pad under the pedal.
Lower polyurethane engine mount insert is a must if you don't mind a tiny bit more vibration. I got mine from ECS Tuning. No wheel hop, and engaging clutch with a manual feels a bit more precise.
Best phone mount by far is the Nightize steelie squeeze dash kit. I’ve had it on all my cars, have never found a better one. All my friends that see it end up buying one for themselves. The double sided tape that comes with it isn’t the best but if you just put some strong 3m double sided tape on it’s the best mount out.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I love anything GTI/Golf R and even though mine have all been manual, I really enjoyed your format and demeanour.
Hey man, been watching since the Focus ST! took a few of the things you did and applied to mine! I appreciate the effort you put into your videos! You got a great attitude, and I always enjoy watching when I can! Keep it up man!
Really happy for you my guy. Thanks for investing so much into this channel, we love it! Hard work will pay off! Watched you for a long time but not really a mustang guy and got busy. So happy to be back now regret leaving too. I bought a 2015 gti last year, swapping the golf r is38 turbo into it now. Have any plans for any bigger power than stage 2?
Also a little tip a down pipe makes a huge difference(it’s where most of the restriction is). Most people just run that and don’t change the stock catback. Can’t wait for your build
I modded the hell out of my mk7 a month or so after I bought it. I also want to wrap it in the same color you used on the mustang in one of your videos 😅
i feel the redbull vibes. ahaha love the phone mount discerption. "does it pull out your hazard lights? yes it does" im dead. but on that note i just picked up my 2nd speed3 gen1 this time. so the fact your working on a fwd turbo car is dope as hell.
Nice Car man. I just picked up a 2017 Alltrack and man I love it. So zippy. Already lookin at some performance and cosmetic mods. Carbon Hood, Exhaust and Cold Air Intake being the first I Think.
i recommend a company called mous. they make by far the most durable case ive ever used and they have magnets built into them and they sell mounts and chargers to go in you car that hold my phone just fine.
K&n filters don’t do shit on modern cars. The stock filters flow more air than the engine can use anyway. The turbo inlet is the restriction, not your air filter. They are serviceable, but most people ignore them, or way over oil the and the excess oil ends up on your map sensors, and maf sensors, and your intake piping. Put a proper cold air if you want more noise and turbo sound.
I'm kind of anxious what you're going to do with this car... the MK7 GTI is at "that" price now and I've been seeing some gut wrenching builds. Hope you keep this build clean and make us look good :)
Cameron, I think you should check out badgeskins to change the emblems, brake lights, reflectors, trim, and get that A pillar triangle darkened with an embroidered GTI on it👍🏼
Hey I see an AZ plate! If you're in Tucson and see a Red Mk7.5 GTI with 18 inch black Pretoria rims, and a sticker in the back that says "endangered species," it's me lol.
I always see that phone mount and wondering I should get one and now I know lol. I also have the exact same paddles and I also have a red remove before flight keytag lmao. And a good setup for the phone is the proclip lower mount with the magnetic setup and a pitaka magez carbon case. And a short 6inch cable to go to the phone from that USB port.
I like the idea of them. They seem like they'd be in the way sometimes. I'm fine with the stock size. I wouldn't mind stock size made out of snazzier material.
Whatever you do. Don’t let ECSTuning in Ohio work on your car. Before the ecu was able to be flashed. I went for a 800$ apr stage one tune. On my 2011 (was 2011 at the time) and they had to crack the ecu open and solder in and alter the board. But the idiot who did it. DIDNT re seal the ecu and only put 75% of the hardware back on to the shell. And with the ecu sitting under the cowl panel and wipers. 6-8 months later my car had allll sorts of random problems. Wouldn’t start. Had to jump start in 1st every time. My wipers didn’t work. No horn. Blower motor would kick on randomly in the cabin. Etc etc. long story short. It took a month of fighting with them after sending photos and the ecu back to ECS removed from my local dealer. And they sent a pre owned ecu replacement. You can’t re flash the 2011’s they should have known this. Sent it back. Then they sent a JETTA ecu. Contacted and said it’s the wrong part number. I need a GTI NEW ECU. And they said look we sent out two already that should’ve worked. We have that we sent a gti ecu tough luck. So unfortunately the tech who installed the Jetta ecu thinking was for a gti. Fried some wiring of the body control module. And at this point the car was at the dealer for months. And the foot of the bill was on me. I took them to court for not knowing what they were doing and of course the judge we saw was a mile from the dealer so clearly in the dealerships pocket as I work at a Honda dealer and know for a fact we have judges in our pocket for stuff like this. So after paying cash for my dream car brand new gti and got to put a Milltek turbo back on, HR ULTRALOWS, wheels, euro golf r short shifter. Forge intake/ diverted valve/ even had the notch filled at a body shop for a badge less grille. I only got to enjoy it for maybe a year. Then the entire wiring, ecu, and fuse box from mice sitting at the dealer got chewed into the car was bricked. Still have it. But needless to say. A simple tune snowballed into a giant mess because of a careless tech a ecs tuning. I still own and have the car. But needs probably 10k in parts and labor to get running again and the motor only has 31,000 miles. It sits outside my shop now I work at as I drive my 2013 focus to work and have to look at it everyday without the funds or knowledge to fix it. Sorry but anytime I see a video about modding a gti I get so irritated and have to warn people don’t let them touch your car. Best part is. Every part I put on that car came from ecs and they did a shoot with it and used it on their home page for months as this battle was going on. Just a greedy shit company. Trust your tuners. And if it can’t be flashed. Never crack an ecu unless you again trust your tech and inspect their work.
I was really hopped up on new car vibes and redbull.. my b
Don’t forget to order from carmaspeed.com if you want a free k&n filter. Leave a note on the order that you’re after the intake!! 🏁👌🏻
Its a good vibe

Oh i am so soo stoked to finally find my next gti, Mazdaspeed 3/6, or wrx.. my goodness it is so hard keeping my patience waiting for the right deal!!
You’re telling people: “it has a lot of audi in it” but audi is owned by VW haha.. it’s a lot of VW in it.
True. VW owns Škoda, Seat, Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ducatti... and more
@@niksterz0722 huh?

I literally just put my deposit down today on my first GTI. I’ve always wanted one from a young age so I’m excited to finally be owning one. Can’t wait to explore the mods and these seem like nice little starters for sure!
Ayooo what year you got?! Congrats!! I’m shopping rn for one here in Cali! If u got alpha for a good one in market pls lmk!
dude! me too. I put my FIRST deposit down on my 8th vw though haha. found a Great falls green GTI and Saturday it will be mine! im pumped
Sweet! I havent had a gti since the last two mk2 8 valve 1.8's i had years ago!! Heck, my first one was a '87 with 54kmi on it!!
**looking for a 1.8t, found a nice '05 i can just afford to buy outright, or id love to find a mazdaspeed 3 or a 6 too!!
Just bought one too haven’t received it yet that’s 10 more days from now 😢
I bought a 2011 gti this summer and i’m very new to the car scene in comparison with some other people, i appreciate this channel so much!💓
i have a 2012 and i’m definitely learning a lot
i’ve just bought a 2015 stick shift
Absolutely the wrong three mods. The first thing you wanna do is a downpipe with a high flow cat, and then a stage two tune, and then lowering springs
I have a 2017 4 door 6-speed gti with golf r wheels and I’m so happy to see you bought one
This series came right on time 😂 got a 2015 GTI 3 months ago, and after driving stock for a good amount of time, I’m now looking for more things to do with it, including a tune
tune tune tune tune tune it! It really transforms the power band :D
I legit got the same year, same spec except manual about a month ago 😂 this video could not be at a better time
It was the exact same scenario for me but with the focus st 🤣🤣
I literally bought my mk7 gti performane 2 months ago! so far i have new paddles, a catless downpipe, and a cold air intake!
First 3 mods IMO is Stage 2 tune, High flow cat and some sticky tires. And then you build your car up from there
Him: I’m gonna save best for last
Me: interested
Him: shows paddle shifters
Me: has a manual gti 🙃
Manual for the win! Please don't tell me you regret the choice...
I came back to this video to check out the paddle shifters you got. Bought the exact same ones. Super solid! A smidge of play in them but that’s probably totally normal. So much better than spending 200 on the “named” brands.
i’m all for this build, i’m excited to see what you do
LMAO Hol’up!!! Did he say “saving the best for last” twice?
Should say “saving the second best for second to last” lol
Bro have been watching you for a while your an inspiration to a lot of people bro keep doing what youre doing youll be big 🙏
3 best mods in terms of bang for buck?
1. New tires, the OEM Pirellis really hold the car back, it's a different car on Firestone Indy 500s.

You already know im here ready for the mods 😆
Drove my 2019 GTI off the lot on Thursday. Had a stage 1 ordered 5 minutes after getting home. You could say an had an itch.
real top 3 best mk7 mods - stage 1 tune , drop in filter , sport/summer tires
This should have been titled "if you bought a DSG" -- if you bought a 6 spd (like me, on purpose because of course) then the first three mods should be a Boomba short shift kit, removing the clutch spring and installing a clutch travel stop pad under the pedal.

Came for mods, saw phone mount, air filter, shift levers? Mods? Phone mount? Phone mount? Mods?…mods!?
I feel the redbull vibes, if I had access to them like that they’d probably be gone in a couple days😂
I like that this video is kinda jokes with everything in the commentary and the products
Bro, I have been trying to find a phone holder for my GTI for months! I just used your link and mine should be here today. Thank you!!!
Can’t wait to see this build I myself have a mark 7 gti and would love to see what you do next!
My first upgrades on my mk8 was cold air intake deverer valve spacer and hood strut
Make sure you turn off the soundaktor with an ob11. Get rid of the fake engine noise lol
I literally just finished watching the first video. and im about to buy a gti myself, and there arent many videos about modding this cars
Just like I commented on the last video.... I am so hyped for you man! Currently building up my mk7 too!
Check out Rennline "ExactFit" mounts for Mk7. Fits flush behind the screen trim & has a strong magnet.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I love anything GTI/Golf R and even though mine have all been manual, I really enjoyed your format and demeanour.

so excited for this build!
Using all the gti mods on ur channel to make my stock golf 1.8tsi a sleeper with golf r specs lol
Can you do more 2003 Nissan 350z videos
He should 👍🏽
The 2003 Nissan 350z is 🔥
So excited to watch your build progress
Scosche Magic Mount is the shit, put it where ever you want.
So cool man! Love the fact that u like the car community and not only a part of it like jdm etc
I modded the hell out of my mk7 a month or so after I bought it. I also want to wrap it in the same color you used on the mustang in one of your videos 😅
I literally use the front of that little cubby near the shifter. It is the perfect size to hold my phone horizontally
Got my phone mount sitting below the steering wheel line with one of those bendy arm ones with a suction cup mount.
I want the air filter! I have a mk7 GTI :)
i feel the redbull vibes. ahaha love the phone mount discerption. "does it pull out your hazard lights? yes it does" im dead. but on that note i just picked up my 2nd speed3 gen1 this time. so the fact your working on a fwd turbo car is dope as hell.

I’m about to get a GTI soon so these videos are extremely helpful thanks 🤙🏾
Liked the video as soon as i saw the phone mount. I might have to get one.
Or maybe not...
Good video. Seem like a chill dude
LOL "does it pull the hazard lights off the dash... yes"
I have those exact paddles! I love them!
YES! im thining about the is38turbo and some coilovers
throw a p3 vent boost gauge on that puppy! or a new south mechanical gauge! i think mk7 has a boost display in the headunit anyways but still :D
Nice Car man. I just picked up a 2017 Alltrack and man I love it. So zippy. Already lookin at some performance and cosmetic mods. Carbon Hood, Exhaust and Cold Air Intake being the first I Think.

The quirky intro with the hazard button coming off is what kept me here today. Well done Cam! 💪
😂 me too!
Yuhhh the day I got my 2014 gli I got the paddle extenders right away !!!!

Hello from Queen Creek AZ. I had 2 MK4s and looking for a Mk6 or 7 and you posted this! Really! Haha
Wish you the best bro!
Not 100% sure they fit GTI but d-dock is the only phone “mount” I would consider as long as you have a dash cam.
my gti is coming in 2 days so excited
I use the Rennline’s ExactFit Magnetic Phone Mount. It’s amazing and looks as if it should come stock in the car.
Guess the paddle shift bling is like getting a new gear shift knob for the manual.
I'm hyped for this build bro! Welcome to the VW family!
Also super hype you’re building something close to my car
It’s the comedy for me 😂🤘🏽
Proclip is the best phone mount. A little pricey but definitely worth it.
Best phone mount for these cars is made by Rennline. More expensive but absolutely worth it.
IMO.
1. Cobb Accessport
2. Downpipe
3. Coilovers
In that order.
Lol this vid was easy to sit through congrats on the new car! I got a mk 5 myself(:
Did he say "I grab the tip and push it in" Wow! These GTI videos have sure changed.
I'm kind of anxious what you're going to do with this car... the MK7 GTI is at "that" price now and I've been seeing some gut wrenching builds. Hope you keep this build clean and make us look good :)
I prefer pipercross (or any other dry) filters. The oil on K&N and other oiled filters may damage the MAF
There is no MAF on the 2.0 engine. I still agree though oil based filters are a mess and really aren't that good at filtration.
Cameron, I think you should check out badgeskins to change the emblems, brake lights, reflectors, trim, and get that A pillar triangle darkened with an embroidered GTI on it👍🏼
What do you like more at this point? Ford focus st vs golf 7 gti?
Golf r or Sti?
I went with the black ones for mine
like the vibe, subscribed
Hey I see an AZ plate! If you're in Tucson and see a Red Mk7.5 GTI with 18 inch black Pretoria rims, and a sticker in the back that says "endangered species," it's me lol.
Curious to see the reason why DSG over manual, driven both and owned manual so would like to see what your thoughts are!
ProClip USA. I use them for my Accessport and phone, really nice products.
Yayy Let's Go GTI 🔥
Amazon has an intake for the GTI, it was $150 when I had my GTI. Just as good as the ones on ECS Tuning
Ok fine twist my arm, I’ll buy something off carmaspeed
OBDEleven is a must buy too!
I just bought my first car today and it’s a 2007 GTI thanks for this video It will help thanks man!
Awesome to see you nab a MK7
Loved the video man
I have a 2016 vw gti really wish I got the k&n filter
That phone mount is nice for those of us with 2015 models. No Apple CarPlay… 😒
Yo what camera setup do you use Just hit 10 K on TH-cam and really love your set up man.
I’m so excited for this build🔥
No way I am putting on those paddle shifters lmao
I like the idea of them. They seem like they'd be in the way sometimes. I'm fine with the stock size. I wouldn't mind stock size made out of snazzier material.
you've got goo taste in cars and mods so can't wait to see what you do to this thing
have a stock mk7.. looking to build it. subbed to see what you do and get ideas lol
