  • In this video, we'll provide you with all the essential insights you need to kickstart your journey into Siemens redundant and highly available CPUs, specifically the S7-1500 R/H series. We'll kick things off with a quick and informative introduction and theory section. From there, we'll jump right into the TIA portal to guide you through the configuration of an S7-1515R CPU.
    And, to top it all off, we'll wrap up with a hands-on demonstration on real hardware. You'll get a firsthand look at how a redundant CPU behaves when a fault occurs on on of the CPUs. This video is your one-stop guide to getting started with Siemens redundant CPUs and understanding how they work in real-world scenarios.

    This was very helpful. It clarified why the HA CPUs are faster than the Redundant CPUs as the R ones must copy over the program. With the HA CPUS, there is no copying needed at interruption, only the switching. Thank you!!

    Hello Thanks for video. Is it possible to have redundant ET200SP with non redundant CPU? Thanks

    • @blociot

      I hope it was useful.
      To my knowledge, you can connect redundant I/O to non-redundant CPUs in PCS7, but there are limitations and considerations. For instance, using redundant Modbus TCP/IP on PCS7 to communicate with non-redundant PLCs is possible but sub-optimal. Additionally, for true redundancy, you would need specific hardware configurations such as HF Interface Modules and S2 PROFINET features to ensure proper communication and avoid single points of failure. Without these, redundancy may not be fully achieved.

    What happens if you have two cpus and three RIO units in project but only one RIO can be connected for commissioning does it have to be setup as in your video? Or can you complete the ring without the other two RIOs ?

    • @blociot
      @blociot  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great question! If RIOs are just a node in the ring not redundant RIOs, they don't have to be connected and can be connected later. But Redundant RIO is a diffefent story. Here is a useful link:

    Great video. Can one PLC be run standalone, if the secondary PLC is not available yet?

    • @blociot
      @blociot  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly. The secondary CPU will run without any limitation untill the primary is back online. Thank you for watching.

    Can we add switch in in interface port 2 of 1515R

    • @blociot
      @blociot  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sure. The CPU in this deno is connected to a Scalance switch on its right side.

    • @jr_electrical-Engg

      But interface 2 haven't MRP can we connect directly

    • @blociot
      @blociot  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jr_electrical-Engg I am not sure if I fully understand your concern. You may send us a message on Linkedin to chat more with details. Overall, each CPU has two independent ports (X1 and X2). In this demo, X2 of each CPU is unused. So you may ise it for any purpose. But X2 is not a part of MRP ring so you won't get benefit of MRP ring. Overall, it's not a good idea to do it this way. If you need to add a switch, add it to the ring. Hope this helps

      @blociot thanks for the reply. Didn't that was possible. Do you rent that or need to be a siemens certified partner?

      @@MrDawen1997 anyone who want to buy a unit, they can ask for a demo for testing as long as the local office has a demo available. You should call them and ask.

    Brother, i have situation when i tried to download the hardware configuration, it only got downloaded in primary plc and backup plc is empty without the program. can you please the how i can download the configuration and porgram in backup plc. I have follow the hardware wiring the same as you said

    • @blociot
      @blociot  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Usama. Have you tried downloading to the backup CPU directly? Try connecting to the backup CPU directly with an Ethernet cable if the TIA Portal doesn't recognize it.
