He’s fun, but my issue with him and the axe users in Tellius is that they generally don’t meet the benchmarks that are required or need heavier investment to do so. They’re serviceable, but they just get outcompeted in a game where all the cavs have accesss to axes too :(

Paladins lost axes, meaning less competition, but on the other hand... they have to compete with Gerik. Radiant Dawn? Paladins got nerfed, including losing their weapon choice, but the best unit in the game is a flying axe user. Fates? *laughs* Camilla (Conquest, Revelation) and Scarlet (Birthright) say hi.
Cool video, always a fan of Panette praise. I'd like to talk a little about Rinkah here, in particular her appearance in Rev. I think Rinkah is pretty badly underrated. Her main issue lies in the expectation that she was given a couple of levels pre-route split which realistically the majority of people aren't going to do. You will often see people say her strength is underwhelming and point out how she's unable to damage the units in her join chapter in Rev but this is a bit of a trap. Fiery blood gives her +4 damage when she's damaged, meaning she will always be able to do something plus her exceptional defence growth (she's basically the Hoshidan armour knight) is actually pretty useful, particularly against the hordes of scary spear masters you face later. Rev is mostly a player phase game however having a unit that is able to survive being one rounded by some of the more scary units is incredibly useful to pull them in for player phase, plus her pair up bonuses in her base class are excellent. If you want to really meme with her you can pair her up with Takumi to get certain blow +40 combined with death blow from her own class to do great club memes where she has about 80 crit+.
I do recall her pair ups being great!!! I think the biggest issue people complain about is her strength IIRC, but you’re right with Fiery blood it’s not too hard to activate and nice damage!! Rinkah deserves love too!

Arthur is a great combat unit, just for reasons other than what's stated in the video. Crit builds and Crit stacking are not good in Fates. Appreciate any Arthur mention though.
The problem with Alois is that while he is ready made, wrath vantage warriors are a dime a dozen in FE3H and he's almost certainly going to perform worse than the units you have already put time and effort into because axes get some of the least efficient or useful combat arts in the game. The standouts are maybe diamond strike and super duper niche uses of exhaustive strike on bosses? Meanwhile Lance users get a brave effect combat art and archers attack from extended range. If anything, Alois' best combat art is in gauntlets with one-two punch, which patches up his speed a bit for player phase. He's fine if you've suffered catastrophic deaths and need to replace units fast, but the problem is that there are so many great units in FE3H that more than likely you already have a wrath vantage warrior in every route that out performs Alois.
This is true! I even mention it I think in the video. Everybody you're training for the job is already there. I will say though, he does come basically BUILT out the box. So if you did just want to pick up a warrior but weren't bothered to make the build before, he can 100% do it without any issues and will be good at it. Massive base strength and double rally at base will always be nice!
Diamond Axe sucks. -20 hit on an already inaccurate weapon type? No thank you. Also, only three characters get a brave combat art with lances... one of whom has the same latecomer issue as Alois. What's more, Vantage/Wrath has seen better days.
Hawkeye and Vaike were essential to my runs of their games. Arthur got benched bc I was magic heavy in my fates run, and bc of the lack of grinding I wasn’t able to get Charlotte up to snuff in time. :(

If we talking about the best brave axe user in Thracia 776, It's Dalsin hands down. If you ever gave Leif the brave axe for you to get during ch.4, you know that I'm not joking. Dalsin with the brave axe is very useful for the whole manster escape arc. Then he's ready for promotion. I would definitely recommend for anyone to try the sacred brave axe Dalsin strategy. You'll never deny his power again.
Really interesting video on some of the axe units, though some do feel a little out of place given their rep is generally given higher regard (and for the sake of this, I will only talk about the units I know a fair bit amount, which'll be 4) I'll open up talking about Panette here, but with every bit of conversations I've heard, I don't think I've once heard her be labelled a bad unit to any degree. With context to most of the personal skills that came out of Engage, she's one of the few units who has a very reliable skill that sets her out from the rest of the cast. She's definitely good, but it's weird to hear she's apparently a lesser unit and needed any debate to show value Bord is the next one I know, and he's definitely a usable unit to a certain degree, but like mentioned in the vid, if you're playing on H5, he's harder to rely on as that base 7 speed can only carry him so far, even if you're going down the forged hammer route, but if you are playing on some of the lower difficulties, he's definitely worth quite a bit with that C rank in axes, even if it's only more short term until the mantle can be passed to Barst. Vaike has definitely gained a lot more traction in Awakening since Mekkah went through the Vaikening for lunatic, so he's definitely not near as slept on as is it's made out to be. If you even look at his growths, he's comparable to the main lord of the game, and given how early you get him, he's definitely the unit I know that is the weirdest to make it on here, especially given for even Luna, he's one of the few units capable of one rounding Grima with brave bow strats Basilio might be a tad underrated to some degree, but him getting actual usage in 0% growths definitely helps to keep him reasonably on the radar, but the biggest factor going for him is at worst case he's a rally strength machine, which +4 strength is a pretty nice thing to be able to grant, especially on higher difficulties. Not as good as a raised Vaike, but he's definitely a valid unit, though that's not saying much when the Awakening cast is rather strong overall in the places you'd need a good unit to be in amazing video, very much worth dropping a like and seeing more quality vids come further down the pipeline discussing more on the value of other units in the FE franchise. So that people could already have more of a warm reception to a unit that's in that "warrior" class line and see that maybe not all warriors/axe fighters start off trash and some are good off the getgo. Because of that it was a little misleading to open up with her after I immediately said they're usually regarded as "kinda bad" ahahhaha and I'll take that loss. I should've been more clear that Panette is a CLEAR example of not being bad but instead enforcing the positives about the class itself!

Axe infantry has been good since FE5 who is not using them? Also yeah Kaga did Halvan dirty giving his axe bro an amazing prf but letting everyone use his Brave Axe. Also Lyn mode Dorcas is pretty nice. Grind him up on the boss to get high Axe rank and he can get a silver axe in HHM pretty early.

My personal favorite Inf. Axe unit is Johalva, he’s not very good but Johan is just a worse Lex might as well have a unique unit with cool animations that burns rns at the home castle
Going to tell my experience with axe users context is usually slow play and/or draft runs FE5: I love Marty's high con. He can capture a lot of enemies to sell their weapons before manster arc. And It's Thracia, you can fix his stats with scrolls and the cap is 20, also he has good promotion bonus Dalsin is another infantary axe user I like. Ch5 is big and slow, but it's good training arc to Dalsin. Bringing brave axe o manste arc also helps to kill some weak enemies without getting countered. FE6: Lot > Wade, but both have some good things First is free deployment until ch5. You can support them to get C rank and it isn't slow because they start with 40 points, 20 behind C rank (in fe6 is 60, 120, 200 points, while in the other two gba games is 80, 160, 240) and they have +2 support points per turn, So that means you only need 10 turns together to get C rank. The bonus aren't the best, but +1 atk, and +2 hit is something in a 2RN game. If you have Shanna drafted/available, you can get +3 atk at A rank with one of them supporting Shanna. But it takes 95 turns to build 190 points for the A rank, so a good alternativef for the early game is 25 turns to build Shanna/Lot C and Shanna/Wade C at the same time (be aware of 120 support points caps per map). Then you can continue using one of them and build support along the game and get that +3 atk and +7 hit(Lot) or +15 hit (Wade) Garret is a pre promote with good bases on hard mode. Can use Killer axe at base. To improve his hit rate and crit chance, you can support him with Lilina to +3 atk and +15 hit and crit at A rank or +2 and +10 at B (if you have her supporting Roy) FE11: I'm the Cord > Bord > Barst guy. I like that Cord has enough luck to don't get crit by ch 1, 2 and 3 bosses on H5 have 9 speed, enough to not get doubled by Gomer and 2 behind by Reynard, and 40% speed growth. If your Cord get 2 speed before ch3 boss fight, you can use him to break the bosses' weapons This method is very slow, but it's a good alternative from Jagen silver lance, Ogma killing edge and Barts devil axe. Those are very slow ideas to execute, but it's what I like about FE, using everything I have to use different units.
Garett is a really nice pick, I wish I could've spoken about him more, but the time constraint was just getting too tight on the video, but I 100% agree he's very slept on!
The reason I feel axe infantry are typically overlooked is because other classes that get axes are typically better. While Inthik Echidna and Barte are fine, I usually have both Allan and Lance bu that poont who can also ise axes, or Sain in FE7, and as much as i like Boyd in FE9 you have Titania and Jill who are both amazing and even Astrid who is very easy to train can get Axes after promotion and is then just Boyd with a horse. I am glad however that in Engage they made Warrior good, and good enough i would rank ot top 3 classes in the game. Panette and then Kagetsu and Etie if reclasses imto ot can shred through enemies easily with both Kagetsu and Panette having great dual phase options.
I do feel kinda bad for the warriors/berserkers in tellius. They struggle a lot with some issues and almost everyone that does have access to axes mainly the dracolords, are much superior :(!
Personally... I can mostly agree on Alois; the only real issue he has is coming late (well, late by Three Houses standards, anyway; that said, coming late in 3H is arguably worse than being a late joiner in other games). Though Wrath kinda sucks (also, it has no synergy with Quick Riposte). Geitz and Hawkeye I can agree on too. Ohn the other hand, I just cannot agree on Arthur the Liability. He already has a lousy start in Conquest (nevermind Revelation), and being stuck with the shitstain that is Misfortunate, aka the absolute worst personal skill in the damn game, makes his already bad case worse. On paper, -15 crit evade to enemies is good... but it's not very useful in practice when many enemies have low crit evade anyway, especially in lategame where many of them nuke what little crit evade they have with silvers. Panette... I'm kinda iffy on, really. She didn't stand out as a Berserker, and honestly, I found Warrior didn't make her much better. She only started to shine AFTER putting her into Great Knight.

I can mostly agree on Alois; the only real issue he has is coming late (well, late by Three Houses standards, anyway; that said, coming late in 3H is arguably worse than being a late joiner in other games). Though Wrath kinda sucks (also, it has no synergy with Quick Riposte).
Geitz and Hawkeye I can agree on too.
Ohn the other hand, I just cannot agree on Arthur the Liability. He already has a lousy start in Conquest (nevermind Revelation), and being stuck with the shitstain that is Misfortunate, aka the absolute worst personal skill in the damn game, makes his already bad case worse. On paper, -15 crit evade to enemies is good... but it's not very useful in practice when many enemies have low crit evade anyway, especially in lategame where many of them nuke what little crit evade they have with silvers.
Panette... I'm kinda iffy on, really. She didn't stand out as a Berserker, and honestly, I found Warrior didn't make her much better. She only started to shine AFTER putting her into Great Knight.
Tbh Ignatius is the worse one, not Arthur.
@@nessdbest8708 I hard disagree. Ignatius may have a downside to his personal skill, but said downside is *NOTHING* compared to Arthur's personal cutting into his crit evade for no meaningful gain.
