Greg Lake had a hauntingly beautiful voice who handled bass and guitar duties in the band as well..., many great songs from this band to explore..... R.I.P Greg... thank you for leaving us these great songs.......
I was fortunate enough to see ELP several times live, the first time in November of 1977 and I'll always remember Greg Lake playing this with Keith Emerson joining in with the accordion for that wonderfully evocative solo. Great memory, thanks for reacting to this!
I saw ELP at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, which at the time was the 2nd largest French speaking city in the world. When they played this song..70000 people sang along....it was just amazing!
l'accordéon c'est en effet tres parisien, c 'est une belle chanson, pas tres revelatrice de ce que propose ELP, qui n 'est pas toujours facile a écouter. bonne continuation
I just saw Carl Palmer in concert on July 29th. He used isolated audio and video from a concert filmed at the Royal Albert Hall in October 1992. With advancements in digital enhancement both Emerson and Lake looked and sounded like they were on stage with Carl. His two touring musicians were also top notch and added great new elements to the show. And Carl Palmer is in amazing shape. He looks 54 rather than 74.
Hi Dominika and Andrei!! When you do his song, "Still, you turn me on", definitely pick the performance from California Jam in 1974. It is the best thing I've seen Greg Lake do. He plays acoustic guitar, sings and is chewing gum. It's the best. 🎉
The first, or one of the first, truly progressive rock groups. Three masterful musicians. Could do love songs, rock, classical, jazz, and categories that don't even have names.
I'm super excited that you are doing ELP. I love them so much. This song is gorgeous. You can really hear Gregs gorgeous tone. You have to hear "Still, You Turn Me On" and "Take A Pebble."
Love this progressive rock supergroup from the 70's. They had a unique sound that included classical music with jazz & symphonic rock elements. Also loved their use of the Hammond organ, Moog synthesizer & piano. Their sound is like no other band. They had a lot of great songs such as "Lucky Man", "From The Beginning", "Jerusalem", "The Barbarian", "Tarkus", “Still… You Turn Me On”, "Hoedown" etc. One of my favorite songs by them is "Fanfare For The Common Man" - Live at Olympic Stadium, Montreal in 1977. Sadly both Keith Emerson & Greg Lake died in 2016, leaving only Carl Palmer.
Oh my gosh!!!!!! I just finished listening to this after hearing your reaction to King Crimson. Yes, Greg Lake! The man was amazing. Another brilliant reaction!! Thank you both!!!
This song and others like it (those mentioned in other comments and “Lucky Man”) attest to the incredible versatility of this progressive rock band. They were indeed a supergroup of the 70’s and 80’s. Grew up with them and other groups like “Yes”. Sorry to throw out the old cliche but “they just don’t make ‘em like that anymore”. Very fortunate to have experienced this music and witness live many great performances by this group and others of the era. Thanks for a great review! Loved it!
Try "Closer to Believing" from the same Works Volume 1 album. That is a stunningly beautiful song too! The lyrics are amazing. My favourite line is "And with the driftwood of acquaintance, Light the fire to love once more…"
elp what a trio works album takes me back saw them live one of the super groups of the time. saw key board player keith emerson with the nice another wow
This morning your covering some of the groups from the 70's, that made it worth investing in a set of headphones, 🎧 like I said before 😮 put on the headphones and escape reality, ELP they are one of the Greats 👍 Peace ✌️ and Love ❤ your 70 year old forever hippie Gary 😊 Great Reaction 👍
If u want to listen another of their songs that will take u to a journey, I recommend‘Trilogy’. Is one of best pieces of art I know from them, I know it well since I used to play the cover. Very interesting and with different sensations and styles.
Personally, I think this a beautiful love song, and it is performed masterfully. The musical composition is top-notch, and it leaves the listener reminiscent and relaxed, and it tends to make your heart feel a bit heavy. You can hear the touches of Paris in parts of the melody. Thank you so much for this choice (I truly love the reactions)
Nice!! One of the only four songs I know of them. 9th grade for me. Was just getting into the hard stuff, like; Scorpions,,,, Judas Priest,,,, UFO,,, BLACK SABBATH and RUSH , etc. Didn't care for this song then. Might have to reintroduce myself or reacquaint!!?? Nice Job you two! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
A beautiful song that I have not given enough time to. I love the Works album, but I don't always make it to the Greg Lake side. Three of the sides feature either Emerson, Lake or Palmer, and then, side four features two songs - Aaron Copeland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" and "Pirates." I highly recommend you dive into "Pirates" as an epic tale.
Most people will think of this song from the title..Chuck Berry- C'est La Vie, You Never Can Tell-1964... Dozens of people have recorded this song..I have never heard of the one you are playing.. but its okay'.

@@MerchantOfAlba Deletion #4 and all I did was quote my favourite line from the song which is solid proof that he now loved her. I also thanked James and you two. There, let's see if they delete that!
Another one I haven't heard in a long time yes I love it too 🎵🎶
Loved Emerson Lake and Palmer. Great song! 'Still you turn me on' and 'From The Beginning' are two more beautiful Emerson Lake and Palmer Songs ❤❤
I got to see them play this live with the orchestra in Chicago 1977

A great musician with such a beautiful evocative voice. RIP Greg
And RIP Keith!!

It takes three musical geniusses to evoke this fire of emotions. Love Your reactions!

Excellent reaction. Now listen to the beautiful closer to believing off the same album, with the choir and orchestra.
Masterpieces were expected of this Group ...
And they routinely delivered .
Top Shelf Musicianship intersects memorable Melodies .

Such a beautiful song. Reminds me of an old girlfriend, so long ago.
Long Live Emerson Lake and Palmer!!!!! Carl Palmer is 74 and is touring… Amazing

Love Greg Lakes vocals a nice transition from King Crimson to E L P
My favorite band ever. If stranded on a deserted island with only one album, it would be Pictures At An Exhibition by ELP.
SO MANY GREAT SONGS by THIS BAND!! ELP, to me, was PRICELESS!! ENJOY!! HUGS from TEXAS!
A Prog Classic for those who follow along ................ :)

On the threshold of a dream is awesome
If you love Greg Lakes voice and his storytelling, you MUST hear PIRATES from the same Works album. It is long but it's a Masterpiece!❤
Take a pebble.

Lend Your Love To Me Tonight is my favorite Greg Lake song. Walt

Also if you like a good Christmas song, Greg did one called "I Believe in Father Christmas." He didn't intend for it to be a Christmas song.❤

You must take the time ck out ELP on Lucky Man!!!
Beautiful reaction and a beautiful song.
Makes me want to get a table in Vienna
Only thing I can think to say is WOW ❣️
c'est la vie. That's Life.
Lake’s ballads were great counterbalance to the less traditional songs. They were a fantastic three piece orchestra. R.I.P. Keith and Greg.
Great reaction! ELP was an amazing band with a fantastic sound.
BIG ELP fan here! This is a wonderful lesser known song by them
Oh, my father
Same singer as on The Court of the Crimson King.
I saw Greg and Keith perrom this shortly before Greg's passing, boy was I lucky.
Wow!! You guys are on a nostalgic roll! That was an emotional ride. Thank you!!
Our pleasure 😊

Wait till you listen to “ Closer to Believing “ from this album! 17 weeks to produce. Greg’s voice is showcased in its best.

A perfectly innocent and benign comment gets deleted three times by an authoritarian platform. It was a good one too.
Sorry to hear that. Could you repost it?

Robbie Nevil did a different song - same title ..... "Robbie Nevil - C'est La Vie" .... a much better song
