We love our Bella Bora SAB and it has been a game changer for us for sure. Now we’re wishing we had one with a PGT logo. lol. It’s definitely easier to see through than a tote and I was having a hard time getting past the tote not sealing around my arms.
I bought the exact same one accept mine is blue and doesn't say PGT on it either! I have had mine for a little over a year so I guess I jumped the gun on something for once instead of being a few years behind 😆 😅
I got mine as baking racks. They're good for pulling cookies and other baked goods out the oven to cool off. Some are also called cooling racks. You can also get wire mesh racks
I bought the small v2 Bella Bora. I had bought a cheeaper brand but I prefer having the rigid frame of the Bella Bora. I've made dozen of plate transfers with zero contamination!
I did this over the weekend. Freaked out and the fire went up my shirt and face and head. Got lucky. My SAB (similar to the one in the video) melted all together. If it been in a sterilite tub I think I would have not freaked out as much if it just jumped rather than collapsed on itself with flames coming out. Induction sterilization only for me now.

Do you have a video on how to clean culture from bacteria? For example if you have contaminated petri dish, is there any way to clean mycelium from bacteria? Is gentamicin toxic to mycelium?
Just got a still air box. I hope with it plus my new syringe supplier works out well cause even when I did everything right I seemed to always get contamination so got a still air box plus changed suppliers. Really hope it works. If not I'm not giving up trying to learn even more about this!
Please make a diy flow hood, personally, ive had 50+ grain jar transfers successfully with zero contams, of course theres prep and other factors but ive always had success with that, never used a sab! Please make more content 🙏

PITA to clean by the looks. Upside down tote with two openings works perfect. I cut a rectangle in the top of the translucent plastic and glued a piece of glass there so I could see well. This "still air box' Is a joke
It's like a billow. Because it's soft walled, it will suck in air. And are you gonna take it apart to store it? Then put it back together every time? It's huge! Making a big deal out of finding a place for a hard sided sab? Flip it and store all your stuff inside the sab when not using. You could make this out of cling wrap.😊 philly teach sold out.
A couple questions. Can I do spore prints in my SAB? Will the spores in the air from doing the print cause any contamination in my box in the future? Could a gently mist my spore prints with Isopropyl to help keep contamination out of the prints?

I’d like to add, I’m a surgical technologist and I have access to sterile supplies :D so I’ve been doing what I can super sterile and I love to use sterile gloves and 20G IV catheters to inoculate works perfectly and it’s a smaller puncture than that fat 18G needle
I don't like how the arm holes seal around your arms. I feel like making any movements with those on would create a piston effect. I guess you could just leave them open though
Pro Tip #1: Use bleach, not alcohol, if you wanna use a flame inside the SAB. Bleach isn't flammable. Pro Tip #2: NEVER sanitize with both bleach AND alcohol, and NEVER allow the two to mix. You will create chloroform. Pro Tip #3: Lay a soapy, wet towel on the bottom of the SAB to catch contaminants that fall onto it.
THe vinyl will rip and the stitching will come off of the edges after a time or 2 of use. You'll wind up patching it with vinyl tape/gorilla tape, but it won't be the same. Thats been my experience with SABs like this.

I also read alot of myco books. I do everything in a sab. I will be making crystal clear cast resin sab for permanent home labs. I make prints, do grain to grain, make syringes, inoculate amd more in my sab. When I have finished making a few I would like to send you one. Keep up the great work out my man. Hi Philly. I need to know whether it is better to boil the gypsum with the rye grains beforehand or to mix the gypsum with coconut clay and vermiculite afterwards? And I wanted to know whether 500 grams of coconut soil + 500 grams of vermiculite + 100 grams of gypsum is a good recipe and how much water needs to be added. Greetings
That recipe sounds good, as for gypsum, youre going to want to sterilize that with the grains in the pressure cooker, as they hold a lot of nutrients. It will also speed up your spawn colonization times
Have to say, I was expecting some kind of side by side comparison of results using a SAB vs other methods of performing tasks where contamination can happen. Literally all your other content is amazing. I was a bit let down that this was just a commercial.
My flow hood is 10"x10" it's so tiny it can stay on the countertop in my kitchen all the time. There's not much room to work in front of it, but I can do everything I need to with it.
This would be soooo much better than having to figure out what to do with a giant tote with holes cut in it. Also easier to see through. If I hadn't finally built an FFU this year, I'd totally get one of these.
You can absolutely store your stuff in there if you want. I didn't because I wanted to keep the inside as sanitary as possible. If storing your stuff in your SAB when it's not in use works great for you, then I encourage you to keep doing it. Different strokes for different folks, ya know? 😁🍷
Someone should make an inflatable glove box with a PAPR, Positive air pressure respirator type fan/filter unit that normally feeds those space helmet things doctors wear sometimes. It would solve the "exploding glove box" problem and also would let you use it without gloves as long as it was sealed at least a little bit to your arms with elastic or whatever.
If they could make like a quicker design with tent pole style supports, that would be way better. The set up and take down time of attaching all the connectors and supports kind of turns me off.

He made a video comparing all the grains side by side and found oats are the best so he probably uses that now. I get mine from tractor supply co, $40/50 pounds
I just built my own and it has worked for me just fine for what I need to do, definitely would rather invest in a flowhood than buy a pricey SAB. I’m sure there are Amazon ones out there to that cost less.

My gripe with it is that it moves the flexible walls when your arms in it causing a flow. With a plastic box that doesn't happen.
Yeah, it's definitely not an effective still air box with as much as the sides move.

This is fantastic. Ive been using a creality 3d printing tent that has worked pretty decent but working through the wrinkled clear plastic sucks lol.
I used to have a 3d printed box with clear plastic windows that I glues on
