Hearing the word that Mike would return on Saturday and play on Sunday, it was like the earth was back to normal. Even had the "He's back" t shirt. GOAT 23.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone have Michael Jordan to thank for his 2 temporary retirements, and Kobe Bryant's recent injuries, for why their scoring records still stand
yes, exactly, it's just speculation of mine, and it's a fun fantasy to think about, but I like to believe that if Michael Jordan did not retire temporarily twice, especially the one for Baseball, if he played straight all the way from his rookie year to his final retirement in 2003 with the Wizards, I believe he could have broken Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's scoring record
nobodysperfect06 He wouldnt have had to play to 2003...if he didnt retire in 93 and didnt retire at 98...if he had averaged 31 in the year of 93-94 and and 94-95...he would end up with 33,780 by the end of the 98 season if he had played 80 games each season between 93-95...and jordan always tried to play 82 games....now with 33,780 he would be 4,607 points left to tie kareem....which means in two seasons he would need 2,304 each year to pass him....which is 28.8 points a game at 80 games each year....and at age 36 he could have retired with the record...four years before he really retired cause he missed 3 full seasons after 98....but if you factor that the nba only played 50 games in 99' then he would have to play to 37 to do it
another thing I've heard, is what really helped Kareem score that many points in his NBA career, because the first half of Kareem's NBA career was before the birth of the Modern NBA, he started in the NBA I think in 1969 or 1970, retired in 1989, the modern NBA did not start until the 80's with Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, so Kareem played a huge portion of his NBA career in which it was probably easier to score
Kim Martin Comment to all of you. I respect each one of you what you said but I think it was a possibility that the bulls would have won if Jordan played in 1994 and 1995, he started again in '95 yes but that was with what 17 games left or something. Imagine 1991-1998 lol. And you're all saying about the scoring, I think he would have passed Abdul-Jabbar in these 2 year absence. What I don't know is why he stopped after '98 then came back again 3 years later and when he did he said he did it for the love of game of basketball like said here at the end in the quick post game interview, and not sure about this but maybe he knew he had no hopes of winning titles with the wizards, he just did it for the game. That made the Chicago Bulls 1 of the most established dynasties in the NBA. I'm glad that his Airness returned on My special day...March 19, 1995.
Look at the sequence between 2:46-3:04. Helping multiple teamates defend opponents, steals the ball, then equally, aggresively, brings the ball all the way across court then gracefully lays it in. Super high intensity on both ends of the court
Those who were unfortunate to watch this mans journey live during the peak years of his career will not fully understand just how great he was. I was fortunate. I graduated high school in 96. MJ was what every talked about at lunch and the reason you snuck over to a buddies house that had the big screen tv. You HAD to watch Air Jordan. Good times man
Im going to be 40 soon and still i feel like that 11 yr old kid who was very excited to see my goat back on the floor i remember my mom and sisters screaming when Jordan came back to basketball 1995
That break could be the best thing that happened to mj. Its evident that the quest for a threepeat will wear the athlete’s body (KD, Klay, Curry). Who knows what may have happened if mj did not take that break before getting another 3peat.
Yes look at 2003 lakers as well trying to go for the 4 peat they couldn’t even make it to the finals they were worn out already and the Spurs got were crazy good that year and matched up with them in the playoffs
Was born in 89 so I only really remember Jordan’s last 3 rings I believe and even then I was so little I just remembered everybody talking about Jordan and hoping Jordan would return to the nba after 1998
Growing up in the Chicago area, Jordan had a God-like status. I was a freshman in high school when he retired the first time. As 13 year olds, it was a shock to us and it made us sad. I remember when he came back, I think it was the sports announcer for NBC, Mark Giangreco, who interrupted the telecast and said that Michael Jordan was coming back. I remember watching this game and thinking how much thinner he looked and how he didn't have the lift in his legs and how much more he seemed to sweat. I believe the reason why they didn't want him to come back with his first game at home was because the Bulls wanted him to get a couple games under his belt before making his debut at the United Center. A common complaint about the rims at the United Center was that they were stiff. Even though he had practiced with the team, there was no way practice could simulate a live game and with so many new teammates, it was going to take some time to adjust. The #45 jerseys ended up being all the rage at school after he returned. LOL.
I still remember watching this. I was 15 it doesn’t even seem that long ago. I’m not a pacer fan but even I know these were the best jerseys and they should bring them back. Hell almost all 90s jerseys were the best for all sports.
I was born 92 so I wasn't old enough to watch this game but my dad did and he told me about this game and how it wasn't suppose to be on NBC they found out that MJ was coming back to play.
smooveoperator5215 he only came back cause they got a bunch of 1st round picks and brought almost every role player every team had...try staying in cleveland and see if irving would be there right now
I was 13 years old when they won the first championship. Watched all games from 1991 to 1998 final MJ game as a Bull. Unfortunately, I also saw games after 1998 when one by one was traded away.
Greatest player of all time in my opinion!!....but as MJ said he doesn’t consider himself to be the greatest because he never got to play against the LEGENDS!!...I’ll buy that but look at wat he did to sum of the “legends” magic,Larry Kareem lol MJ I think Its settled You ARE THE GREATEST!!...as the great Bret Hart said before about himself but it’s really a TRUE JORDAN STATEMENT......”MJ IS BEST THERE IS,BEST THERE WAS AND THE BRST THERE EVER WOLL BE!!!!!!
"An artist returns to his true canvas" I don't know if these words can apply to any other player! Stats tells us something about him, but not the whole story, his artistry was (and in my opinion still) unmatched!
In 2012-2014 (cant remember) Manchester United's legendary midfielder Paul Scholes also retired for a few months. He had nearly 20 years playing for the club and had won over 10 "rings" (national league trophies), then he retired but Sir Alex Ferguson (coach who was at the club for nearly 30 years and won all the trophies by his side) made him come back because they were struggling, so he did and they won another "ring" (national league trophy). His return was epic but Paul Scholes isn't considered football's (soccer) goat while MJ is basketball's.
I was so hyped for this!! Was living in Germany, so the game tipped off at like 1 or 2am, can't remember. NBC broadcasted the Spurs/Nuggets game instead. -_- I was pissed. Lol
He also missed his first 6 shots :) I have the whole game on tape, ordered it from Pontel. It's a great game, Bulls came back from 18 down in the fourth quarter to send it into overtime, but the Pacers prevailed.
Thank you for saying that. He is simply and purely a winner. The things he has done on the court will be talked about long after he has passed. All of these rumors about these high school kids being the next lebron james and you never hear, not even once, that a kid is the next jordan. There will never be another jordan. Maybe someone will come along and win championships in a row like he did and put up numbers like he did but they still wont be like him. His drive to win is unique to him only.
"A lot of people don't know this," Larry Jordan said with a laugh, "but in that first game back against Indiana, I'm watching, and all of a sudden I realized he had his shorts on backwards. "....told by Larry Jordan, his brother....
I'll a story. Before MJ's first retirement, MJ was booed everywhere during players introduction. After the comeback, MJ was cheered every arena he went. Just to show you how much we missed him

smooveoperator5215 he only came back cause they got a bunch of 1st round picks and brought almost every role player every team had...try staying in cleveland and see if irving would be there right now
Almost 30 years ago and I remember where I watched it, like it was yesterday.
I was 13 years old when they won the first championship. Watched all games from 1991 to 1998 final MJ game as a Bull. Unfortunately, I also saw games after 1998 when one by one was traded away.
What a great fucking intro. That gave my chills.
2024? Anyone i was a teenager in tbe 90s what a time to be alive 😢❤😊 take us back
25 Years Ago I Was 9 Years Old When Michael Jordan Return To The Chicago Bulls On Sunday, March,19, 1995 Chicago Bulls @ Indiana Pacers
they played this guy 43 mins in his forst game back in 2 years thats crazy
The greatest moment of my childhood
GOAT no doubt
god of all things?
Jack Zaczkowski more "greatest of all time"
Lol
Genuinely would like to know what you think about the debate today and why
You said it ,,,,the best in the world 23 Michael Jordan the goat 🐐
Everytime I watch this I still hold out hope that the NBA on NBC theme will play.
Wow 25 years on this day that the goat returned. I wouldn't been born for another 11 days
I forgot how late into the season it was when he first came back. Dang late March right before playoffs. And the NBA needs Bob Costas and NBC back
MY didn't just make the NBA better, he made the World better...
Greatest player of all time in my opinion!!....but as MJ said he doesn’t consider himself to be the greatest because he never got to play against the LEGENDS!!...I’ll buy that but look at wat he did to sum of the “legends” magic,Larry Kareem lol MJ I think Its settled You ARE THE GREATEST!!...as the great Bret Hart said before about himself but it’s really a TRUE JORDAN STATEMENT......”MJ IS BEST THERE IS,BEST THERE WAS AND THE BRST THERE EVER WOLL BE!!!!!!
i like how the crowd was booing the whole bulls team then when it came to Michael they cheered for him
"An artist returns to his true canvas" I don't know if these words can apply to any other player!
It was like the king has returned.
Proud to witness Airness era!
What an awesome memory
Best in history. Hands down. Never be another Jordan
I was so hyped for this!! Was living in Germany, so the game tipped off at like 1 or 2am, can't remember. NBC broadcasted the Spurs/Nuggets game instead. -_- I was pissed. Lol
When Stuart Scott said "Michael, you have 1 under your belt" I wish Michael said "actually Stuart I have 2"
"Are you worried that if you don't lead this team to a championship again it might mess up your mystique a bit?"
"No I am not."
'Nuff said.
Listen to how loud they cheered for Jordan in Indiana. Man had fans in every city.
MJ my best and coolest player!!
"don't stop me now"-queen yay!!!! postgame.
He also missed his first 6 shots :) I have the whole game on tape, ordered it from Pontel. It's a great game, Bulls came back from 18 down in the fourth quarter to send it into overtime, but the Pacers prevailed.
A living legend
Reggie and Jordan was the greatest rivalry.
Great questions Ahmed.
my step father encouraged me 2 watch this game when i was 11
"BOOOOOOOO." "At the other gaurd 6.6 from North Carolina number 45, Michael Jordan." "WOOOOO"
He comes back and wins 3 more GOAT!!!!
Yep! 1996, 1997, and 1998
Simple G.O.A.T:. as the statue reads "The best there ever was, the best there ever will be" oh and I am a Knicks fan!
1995: the best in the world is back.
2021: the best in the world is back, if you know what I mean...
CM PUNK ❌❌
First bucket: post up, jab step, mid range jumper 👌🏾
Ppl appreciate greatest no matter if it's at the detriment of their team or not
I have this game on VHS.
Just to show you how much we missed him
I don’t ever remembering Michael Jordan being booed in any arena you making that up
@@tanysozi except in Cleveland
