Need the proof and sound meter to show it. I thought you had a Donny fl to compare it to or at least some test result. The chamber are all the same size and how do you know if there big enough so the chamber doesn't cause turbulence and point of aim shift. Plus what stoping the installation from shifting from shot to shot?
Agreed! A friend of my bought the last 2240XL I had along with the DonnyFL Tanto. In the past people have told me that if you speak with Donny, he recommends the Sumo model for that pistol. But I've known others who say the size and handling of the Tanto are worth any loss. I'm telling you this because my plan has been to get a sound meter and compare the results of the Sumo and Tanto on this pistol. However now I'm incredibly interested in how the DIY Suppressor compares to the two of them. I think it will be a fun and useful comparison. I'd really like to include a TKO as well. Only a matter or time, weather and money that stands in the way of getting it done.
Totally with you. Still intend to buy a good sound meter. The trouble is getting accurate readings on a brief sound like a shot. Most of the available units measure ambient sound levels and don't sample fast enough to reliably get readings. And yes, I know about the apps for smartphones and such, they suffer the same problems. I've played with a number of them. At my university I was a research lab assistant for 2 years and have personally published a number of scientific papers. I'd rather give no data that publish erroneous data. I intend to review another DonnyFL suppressor and hope to do comparisons between the DIY unit and DonnyFL Tanto and Sumo Units. Probably won't have the best sound meter for it but I'll have multiple shooters and back to back comparisons that give us some idea of how it performs against moderators people may have experience with. Thanks for the comment. Yes, I agree with you, but hey you can try it yourself for $2.00 & 20 minutes of your time. If you do I think you will be supprissed.
@t.gerald725 not good enough for sure. I've been checking other channels and unfortunately there is no word anywhere else good or bad. I look forward to many of these channels out here doing more so we can learn more.
@t.gerald725 have you seen any other word that is good enough elsewhere? I'm in agreement with you, unfortunately I've not found any videos out there. Please do come back here and inform if and when you find new info out there.
Yes, I did. In the last two months, I moved into a new place and had a bit of a set back medically. As a result I'm way behind on video production. Hopefully I'll be getting more out over the next two weeks. The follow on to this video is near the top of the list.
I tested the DonnyFL and homemade units over a year ago and if memory serves neither introduced any variance in FPS beyond what's usually seen with a CO2 gun.
Instead of talking so much on your other previous mods, get to the point of the suppresser, and at least show how the suppresser is made and provide a sound test comparison with and without. That's what your viewers, I'm sure, are hoping for. I went through the entire video for what seems a waste of time.
Thanks for the feedback. The video has been up for years & this is the first time I’ve heard that. I purchased a sound meter (which I use in testing the DonnyFL Tanto. I intend to do a follow up video testing & comparing it to my home made one. Unfortunately I moved & got married in the process & my wife fears she threw it out. In the interim I’ve tested other home built designs but they were not as good. At this point, I guess I need to do my best to reconstruct the original. By the way it was simply made with two containers, paper towels & paint. I suspect the difference was in the container themselves. The original used some type of soft flexible plastic as opposed to the hard plastic ones I’ve used since. I’ve had difficulty finding ones like the originals. At this point my search is boarding on obsession so hopefully I’ll have something better out soon. In the meantime I’ll issue a full refund for your admission 😊
I have a 2240XL coming thursday and I actually went to lowes and picked up a in ground water sprinkler head and I'm gonna make a silencer out of it. I'll have to do a video on it when I'm done. I apologize for criticizing your silencer I have done the same thing with a tylenol bottle on my Steel storm and I cut round styrofoam and poked a middle hole and it worked fine. It did become loose and no longer fit good and I got an old sprinkler head and made a fake suppressor out of it. I'll get around to doing a video on it when I get time....you know what? As long as it works........dont matter what it looks like!!
Suppressor, moderator, LDC, sound reducing muzzle device, Sure, point taken. Affecting accuracy and velocity not so much. At least not in my testing. In theory, sure, I'm with you, but in terms of practice, not anything you'd notice in practical use.
@@AlsAirguns Use plastic washers as baffels. You can heat them up and push the inside so that the inside ring hole sticks out. Then glue them into a tune and it will be way better.

@@hksjoshua “Suppressor” is a technically correct term for a device that reduces sound of a gun shot. It suppresses sound, and that makes sense. “Silencer” is what Hiram Percy Maxim, the inventor of the device, called it in his sales literature. Granted, he was exaggerating it’s effect a bit, but that’s just marketing hype. “Maxim Silencer” was actually a trademark. The trademark has become genericized. This is the same as what happened to aspirin, kleenex, hoover, q-tip, and others. The brand name became a regular name. It’s just as correct to use either those names, or acetylsalycilic acid, tissue, vacuum cleaner, and cotton swab.
Didn't know about airguns til now.... awesome

TKO makes a LDC for XL now..Option #5..

Great video !!!
Glad you enjoyed it
All the proof that viewers have that it works is your word. Not enough.

Al , you’re really on to something .
Thanks, I've been shooting it tons and I still marvel at how effective it is.
I think so too
Nice
Thanks.
I'm not sure what you did here. Looks like you put your Fleshlight on the end of your 2240
What's a fleshlight? ;o)
Nice set up, but gotta hear it. No proof. .
Check out the new sound test series.
Can the viper express shoot steel 7 1/2 shot?
I assume that it would be just fine.

What's the FPS with the silencer?
Unlike firearm suppressors, neither of the unit's I've tested had any real effect on velocity.

Youd have been better off to use a sprinkler head that will just screw on. That is one ugly thing...sorry. .but no!!

@@AlsAirguns will do!
Noooooooooo!!! First of all it's called a suppressor not a silencer. Lastly using tissues will reduce velocity and accuracy.

@The CBC the legal name is silencer as the inventor named it that.
