They would be neutral unless attacked, but could be tamed (or made friends with) with Tropical Fish. They would attack Drowned once they become friendly. Does that seem like a good idea?
It would actually be a really good way to change stigma about sharks. They are predators that can be dangerous when not given the respect they're due, but at the same time wonderful creatures who won't go after you for no reason and you can make friends with since Minecraft is a magical game.

Unlike normal neutral mobs (like untamed wolves, dolphins (I think), zombie pigmen/zombified piglins etc), semi-neutral mobs only attack under specific conditions (along with the traditional "attacks if you attack first" thing). A great example is the piglin, who only attacks if you aren't wearing gold armour, or if you open a chest near them. For the shark, maybe it could only attack if: - You attack first - You move around too fast/too randomly - You took damage earlier (maybe it could be 20 or 30 seconds?) - You're on a boat (since maybe it could be that they think you're their prey since you look like them from below)
it's funny because terraria literally has a minishark and an upgrade, the megashark but they also have a late-game upgrade to that, the SDMG and you're never going to guess what that stands for. (here's a hint, it's part machine gun)
I remember a comment on that video that said something along the lines of Sharks not being in-game is a dumb reason regardless because we have wolves, and if it's not obvious, you can't truly domesticate wolves because wolves are still wild animals, closest you get irl are Wolfdogs. Also because Wolves kill sheep, it means that nothing stops them from having a predator like sharks hunt fish. No matter what Mojang thinks they already have mobs that hunt other mobs, the only limitation that stops them from adding more mobs is the game's codebase.

my suggestion was to add sharks as a neutral mob that is hostile to fish and only attacks you when you provoke it first or you get damaged near one in the water (like bleeding) to spread awareness that sharks wont attack humans unless provoked first or they smell the humans blood in the water they say they wont add them to not villainize irl animals but this would be the opposite this would be unvillainizing an already villainized animal i mean axolotls went from one of the most obscure to one of the most well known and popular animals in the world due ti minecraft maybe they can fix sharks being villainized already by portraying them in a more accurate light of them not being hostile to humans like most would think
