Why would anyone play this, as white? You just spent 20 minutes explaining there is no hope…. Just say this is a waste of time… This is nonsense…. White hasn’t one any of these lines….
Yes! I'm studying the Fishbein book now and wanted to see what else is out there as I continue to work through Fishbein's book. I can't wait to try some of the more aggressive lines in my games. Cheers!
Thank you so much for this video Alex. I'm currently evaluating this as an option to include in my repertoire and the analysis provided is in depth at a speed I can comprehend and keep up with
9:38 Stockfish likes 11.Qd3, stopping Ba6+. This is the variation that stockfish came up. 11. Qd3 Bf5 12. Qf3 Bd7 13. e6 Bxe6 14. Bxa8 (-0.29) But my god I wouldn't go that way. If my opponent finds Qd3, I don't know what to do lol
That's the problem with gimmicky traps. They all end up the same way when the opponent finds the refutation. In the Scotch Gambit white replies to Bc5 with Be3 and that puts an end to the nonsense.
Thanks for your video but Ba6+ is met best with Qd3, BxQ PxB threatening the N and now the B on F2 and N can't both be saved. So B will be a minor piece down

"At the level of us mortals" is my favourite part of the video
Wow! This was a phenomenal lecture on the Scotch Gambit! This is exactly how I want to learn chess openings. Thank you!
Good ideas
always loved the scotch gambit! new theory in the fishbein book suggests 11. Be3 in the mainline, because 11. f4 Ne4 12. Be3 is met by Qb8!
