- We got contacted by the Forest Service and the San Juan County Sheriff's Office about getting an abandoned vehicle off the Camp Jackson Trail. This is the same trail we helped Moab SxS recover a RZR that fell off the narrow trail. Somehow this fullsize truck got even further down the trail. They had broke the front driveshaft on the way back out and then just left it. So we had to go get it. We borrowed my buddy Jeff's rear steer samurai so we could maneuver on the tight trail easier. We had a few issues but nothing we couldn't work around. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Unlike so many channels there is no ego - Mike comes up with a good idea and Rory says words to the effect of "scrap my idea your's is better" and they roll with it. Amazing
That’s why I unsubscribed from MORR. Couldn’t stand the Chief and his tribe of Indians attitude.
And shawn stacking rocks ahead was great
@@scootamagoo202 I am not watching MORR so much anymore. Continued turnover of personnel
agree. this is one of my favorite channels, second only to Casey LaDelle.
@@scootamagoo202 Please just let a positive comment stand on its own instead of adding your negative opinion for your own gratification.
"In spite of all this situation right here - at least it has towpoints."
Mike always finds the brightspot in any situation. I love it! 😁😁😁
Tow Points are Mandatory for FORD'S !!!!! 🤷😂
"Its a nice place to break down" -Mike in every video lol
And Rorys "fair enough" sounded like a disappointed dad 😂 I love it
Secret testing of the new Ford F-150 Crackhead Narrow Trail Edition. You guys always rock!
My thoughts too.
All that stuff in the truck probably meth
No sober f150 driver would do that. I am wondering where they turned around.
Driven by Whistling Diesel
Do they get fined for driving on the wrong trail
That Rear Steer Suzuki is SWEET! 👌😎
The only good thing I've ever heard from the couple people know that had suzuki cars was ran very economically,,, beyond that not much satisfaction at all
@@edzimdahl1158 The older ones are simple, reliable, and really fun to drive! They are the "motorcycle of cars" ;)
Mike made me very uncomfortable with how comfortable he is grinding the steering column off. 😎
He is representing WI.
Question: once the steering lock is cut, would it be possible to start the engine? I'm not sure if it is possible to bypass the immobilizer ?
@@jimandnena4 that generation f150 has a chipped key.
@@jimandnena4 the short is no, the long answer is yes if they had a computer that is compatable for that year make model engine etc that had the pats deleted/tuned from it then they could swap the tuned ecm in it than hotwire it but by the looks of it who knows how well the truck would even run.
@@jimandnena4
Gives you access to the wires for hot wiring, and also allows you to cut the column lock.
The truck wasn't stolen. He thought he was on trail 92. He got as far as past the creek and the tight left turn. Realized he couldn't go any further and turned around then made a quick job of breaking the front drive shaft. I can't speak to the guys state of mind, just glad to see that the truck is out and the trail is reopened. Thanks to Moab MotorSports, you three rock the Moab area. Keep up the fantastic work you do. Your talent, knowledge, and experience are truly commendable.
Best comment 🫡👍
Okay, it wasn't stolen, which was my first thought, but perhaps too little blood in his alcohol stream?
Too bad Ford doesn't make a F.75 just for that guy! : )
I think the owner of that truck is going to get a nice fat bill from the Forest Service.
Thanks for this follow up! I was seriously baffled at the whole situation.
That's one of the more difficult recoveries I've seen in a while. Lots of fun to watch.
Respect for the trust you have for each other. Mike trusted Rory and just jumped in the towed vehicle and Rory clearly relies on Mike "not to take him somewhere he doesnt want to go". That is one tight crew, impressive.
I love reading the comments! They're always full of much deserved love and admiration❤
Did you ever think you would become the world’s premier Geometric Vehicular Extrication Specialist/entertainment producer, director, and of course, Star? That was really amazing.
The guy tha/built the buggy should be proud!
Rory, you and the boys do not get paid enough. Damn you guys rock.
Do you want to tell us what this cost this customer? Besides a totaled truck I mean.
Even with the mastery recovery of a vehicle that should not have been down that trail, this video is a prime example of how wheeling can be successfully determined by mere inches of wheel placement and vehicle speed.
When the disabled truck started sliding off of the trail experience, said stop to halt the slide. With some minor adjustments and very controlled vehicle movements, a very highly dangerous situation was averted, and the successful recovery could continue.
I have no words for this level of incompetence. Glad you guys were able to get it out.
I’m in awe at the level of incompetence it took to get the F150 into that situation. The driver obviously levelled up a couple of times prior to blowing the front driveline.
"Hold my beer!"
@@JohnShalamskas Which was probably actually said.
Oh, I have a few, but they'd get deleted from here.
Maybe it was hold these cases of beer and this bottle of Jack. Wow. Next level du.mb to take a full size down this trail after the 137 signs it wasn't for a full size truck.
Can't believe they got that truck back in to where it was. Good job getting it out.
Yes! If it were me, it would involve a cutting torch and numerous trips to haul it out in pieces!
Rory and his crew rock!
@@mahbriggs While that sounds easy, the instruction "to do what ever it takes" and the pre existing condition of the truck, I think pulling it out in one piece with some additional scratches and dents on the side was the right call. Only one return trip on the trail, one item for a tow truck and no doubt a lot of items for scrapping.
The vehicle was 'abandoned'.
@Kevin-go2dw
I was commenting on the fact that I couldn't even begin to pull that thing out of where it was! I don't have the skill set!
Not questioning the decision to pull it out!
It is always fascinating to watch Rory, Shawn and Mike do these very complicated and difficult recoveries. It's a nail-biter at tymes. Great job Team Trail Mater👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
More proof that it’s not the vehicle (even though that’s a sweet Suzuki!) it’s the skill of the operators that makes the difference.
Rory NEEDS a rear steer buggy!
Absolutely!
I thought the same thing
Rory does have a rear steer axle for the buggy. He picked it up earlier in the year.
What he needs is time and $$$
As good as he is without rs,
imagine how much better he'd be with it..!!!!
As an owner of a 92 Geo Tracker, I can confirm that is one spunky Samarai! Great build :)
...job well done, as always!!!
I like the way you guys are able to collaborate with local jurisdictions to perform these rescues and recovers. It relieves the jurisdictions of the liability of having to do so and probably speeds up the process.
I get the feeling there was a fair bit of begging from the local jurisdiction on this one. Aside from cutting it into tiny pieces first, they weren't going to get that out without Rory's help.
They would have used a helicopter. A really big expensive one. I think their other option would be to hire Rory's crew to disassemble the truck, so the pieces could come out on a smaller helicopter or by a narrow buggy. Strip it to the frame, and that would be narrow enough. They would still need a narrow trailer to carry the frame and axles.
@@BigGuy8059 I don't think they could even do much with a helicopter there. Too many trees to get all the rigging and the truck tangled in.
@@BigGuy8059 - but think of all the damage to the trees from the downdraught! Awesome recovery with minimal damage (if any) to the tree's / trail.
@@arteepee
Yeah, I was thinking a normal size helicopter for bringing out parts after disassembly, But the truck got in there, so it could come out. If the Samurai couldn't pull it out, I still think taking off the bed and axles and then cutting the bed in half the long way would have made it all fit in a narrow trailer with several trips. Maybe pull the drivetrain if it was too heavy for the trailer to carry frame plus drivetrain.
80% skill and 20% luck! Damn good job crew!!!
90% skill and 30% luck Thanks Yogi Bera
You are absolutely the “BEST”! What an ordeal. Tremendous teamwork 🥇
It's unbelievable what people will do.
Rory taking Mike's idea after Mike dismissed his idea was great. Pulling a full size truck off essentially a quad trail is flat ****** impressive👍
Thank you Rory and crew for sharing this with me ! Seeing an awesome recovery !
Man, I was leaning and straining for you guys on those tight spots and tippy places. Hope it helped. lol
Great video, super tough recovery! Nicely done!! 😄🎉
I do the leaning and straining thing too. Same when an ASP cop is going to PIT a vehicle.
@@61rampy65 lol!
Me too 😂
That was one wild recovery!! The Samurai was awesome can't believe it could tow that dead weight!! Good job everyone!
What I really like about your channel is, we see everything, it’s like we’re there with you. Watching this recovery I was amazed at you and your team’s experience, and execution of this, what I saw as an impossible task.
Your ability to concentrate on two things at the same time is amazing
This was a tale of Hold My Beer to Hold My Coffee! Great job team,, Always Impressive!
Beautifully done gents, not forgettng the unbelievable scenery...👏👏
Great job on a tricky recovery!! Jeff's buggy did an amazing job. Saved a lot of rigging and winching. You all did a super job on getting that Ford out of a very sketchy trail!!
The little Suzuki that could! Nice damn job guys!
IT took the COMBINED skill and genius of Rory, Mike, and Shaun to accomplish the mission. Well done.
So many questions, enquiring minds want to know,”Now for the rest of the story “…. Awesome recovery Rory,Mike & Shawn.
Big thanks to Rory and your skilled crew. I love to follow your great work with a normallevel of self-confidence and joy when you are trying to solve peoples problems and make it, without any fixity and excessive self-praise. Thanks guys. I have loved to work all my life and was also happy to have a job where we could help to solve peoples problems, on a lot of the projects we had to drive offroad with our equipment for ground investigations (soft-offroad compared with you). Three years ago I became disabled, partly paralyzed and bedridden after a healthcare blunder, of course it's giving some pain but looking at your smooth work is better than painkillers to make me relax. Thanks guys.
I would have never believed that that little buggy would drag a full size truck off that trail. It shows that a 4 banger (thing sounded like one of my tractors)geared properly and a balanced weighted buggy is capable of doing... especially in the hands of RORY..
Low end torque.
It’s small but heavy! I’m guessing about 5k at least with all the mods maybe more😊
It also doesn’t look very steep and not too bad traction. And when needed, there always were trees available.
Don't worry Mike! Just forget that you forgot something! Lol! And the hi-lift jack idea is clutch! There is a place called Diamond Mill here in OR that has a couple spots that if you slip a tire into, the only way to get back out is a hi-lift, and a buddy with a winch to pull the top of the jack and teeter it out from under yer rig! There was a point in time where I was actually startled by Shawn... Thinkin he was a ground level tripod camera from behind that truck, and then it moves! 😳😅😎 This was a great episode TrailMate's! Thanks for takin us along!🤘💜💚🤘
You guys are amazing !!!! Great job, with a great attitude.
Great job guys! Rory is a MASTER!! Driving forward while looking backward and directing Mike! DAMN! Great camera work Shawn!! Always tuned in boys!
You know you are old school cool when you use a high-low jack to move a truck sideways on a hill/cliff without a hint of indecent or hesitation! 😁
I have never been so on the edge of my seat duriung a movie - not any movie...! Brilliant job guys - 1st Class 'spotting' by Rory, out of the back of his head; Mike has nerves of steel (I would have been driving that with the door open, in case I had to jump clear...!); and Shawn's ability to keep up and still keep a steady camera, and also get some very artistic shots as well... AND rerminds Rory to use the radio.
Very well done all three of you.
One hell of a job! Some sketchy spots, but yall killed it!
That is one heck of a motorcycle trail
Amazing fall colors, and awesome to watch!!Thanks 😊😊
That was outrageous. Can't believe you guys did that!
Outstanding job guys. And once again it's the stupidity of people like those who brought a full size pickup truck on a restricted trail that continues to get OHV trails closed.
Keep up with the good work love watching your videos on TH-cam God bless
Incredible recovery guys, that was tighter than... Cheers from West Jordan
Outstanding recovery guys. Great video
All I can say is wow what a recovery. Rory can do anything with rear steer
The Ford owner had a "concept of a plan." Everyone kept their cool. That is one of the best part of this team.
The hi lift shuffle is probably what I use mine for the most
I'm amazed that the team got it out, koodos Team Tailmater
Mad Respect for Rory, Shawn & Mike that was a sketchy one.
Plenty to be nervous about on the side of that steep hill, I was exercising body English just watching 😬😄
Props to your buddy for loaning you his badass little Samurai, It's good to have friends like that and I'm sure Rory & crew have made many in years past helping others out of a jam.
Mike with the high-lift save, Awesome teamwork! You guys work so well together!
Awesome recovery and great video. Thanks
Rory's stills on tough recoveries like this are unmatched.
That was a tough one. Good job.
I sure that was a cost plus job. You guys did hell of a good job.
I'll buy you all a beer when I see you.😊
One of the best recovery ever !! Please tell the viewers this was a PAID recovery $$$$$$$
I think he said a while back that all his recoveries are paid work. But yeah, this was a tough one!
This was a police job. Odds are the paycheck won't be for a few months; and will be from a salvage auction. If the owner was being cooperative they've had keys.
@@Dan_NeelyI assumed it was a stolen truck… 🤷♂️
@@matthewtaylor3308 If it was stolen they'd be able to find the owner for keys, and it'd be an insurance job. Probably would've been sitting for a lot longer based on what Matt's said about various insurance jobs he's done. Most of the companies apparently lack an effective process to escalate and find specialist recovery companies when all the local rollback operators decline the job as far beyond their capabilities.
Steering two vehicles through this gnarly terrain.. Great job from Rory and the team!
3 mins after upload and already 95 likes. Thank you for sharing, stay safe!
I’m Native American from Northen Az from a small town known as Chinle, and growing doing these things whenever we got stuck or had issues while being out and getting creative so to say haha it’s definitely humbling watching some professional guys do the things we’ve done growing up. Different types of men in this world and I’m glad to relate to Rory and crew! This is the good stuff(Joe Dirt) 😅
A great team making the impossible look easy, again and again.
This was an impressive recovery. What it shows is that you are not just paying for equipment, but the expertise to use the equipment properly.
7:10 excellent driving as usual😊
At this point, I am wondering how the Darwin award winner got that far. He probably votes too. /sad
Always impressed by the ingenuity and ambition some people demonstrate to really mess something up. Good job to you folks for unmessing it up.
Great recovery. Tailgate still looks ok
It is nice to see how well you gentlemen work together when you are trying to keep each other safe
Great job again.
if there is ever an apocalypse, you guys can be on my team.
Awesome team work guy's... a big thank you to your friend for the loan of his rear wheel steer.
I'm very curious what forest rangers had to say of it all, will the forestry fine them for all of this hard work and expense of it all. crack heads sound's about right for those who took the F150 in there.
Love how you made fast work of that locked steering collum Mike, and of this
would be the same with out Shawn doing all what you do off camera, Thank you
for all of your good camera work Mike.
The Blessings to be upon you all.
Well done, lads!
So many unbelievable things happening in this video & you guys working as a team on another amazing recovery!!! Borrowing a small buggy, pulling a fullsize out of Narrow/Steep trail like this! You guys really did a great job & thank you for sharing. 🤗
You in neutral Mike!!!😝😝😝
I heard Rory way up here in the State Of Maine🤣🤣🤣
I said who is hollering🍺🍺🍺
I thought they said they wanted a beer🤣🤣🤣
AWSOME JOB there guys...
Another amazing recovery video from the trail mater crew
Totally amazed you guys got that F150 out. Love the way you all work together.
9:35 - Careful by that tree. Wouldn't wanna scratch the paint LOL
Technical recovery!
Patience and rear steer for the win!
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
It'll buff out and be good as new.
Just when you think you’ve already seen a tough, risky recovery. Rory and the Team bring us one tougher than before, wow. You guys earn your stripes every recovery.👍
Lou from SE Florida 👍🇺🇸
Good job guys😊
Rory needs to add a Lishi tool from Lock Picking Lawyer to his tool box...for the next recovery where the tow vehicle keys are not available. That was a tough and scary recovery even though minor scratches/dents were allowed. Looks like another vehicle will be in the works to add to the Trailmater fleet. Great work Rory, Mike and Shawn. Thanks for sharing.
For more than 20 years the key alone won't start most vehicles, you need to get an electronic pairing set up as well.
This was incredible to watch
You guy's are the "Gold" standard........Rory, your leadership is phenomenal......no ego, just get it done......brilliant job 👏
That was a workout for everyone!
This was such an epic recovery, great job to all three of you guys!
I also cannot believe how well that Samurai performed pulling a dead full-sized truck out on a trail that narrow. That thing is a beast.
Nice autumn leaves in there. I don't understand how the truck was already pointed the right direction to haul it out of there. This is another one of your great videos. I really liked this one.
My theory is that the F150 driver made it past the point where Rory found it, found that the trail got _even worse_ , somehow got turned around, and then broke the front driveshaft at the spot where it died.
Rory is smart enough to accept a better idea and gracious enough to follow through. PS was the ford stolen ? Cuz someone certainly drove it like it was stolen.
hi lift Jack's are the best out there don't care what anyone says. u can recover urself and do crazy stuff like rory did
Bent mine into the shape of an L, this reminded me that I've got to get it replaced.
Boy, those fools sure destroyed that truck and gave you a challenge!
Great recovery work guys!
Thank you guys
Incredible teamwork as usual ❤
U guys have great team work even in tence times
Great job as always, I guess they caught all the dreams with that dream catcher.
