Never forgot my first solo. Took off with my CFI,, did two T&G's and he told me to pull over to refueling. He jumped out of the plane and said "OK, you're on your own and make me proud because the whole tower has to buy me dinner and drinks if you don't crash and burn". Talk about added pressure!.. True story! Anyway, I completed and passed my training with 49 hours. Today I am IFR and multi engine certified and loving every minute of it.
Fantastic to hear that! Yeah it is quite an experience. My first solo was nearly 16 years ago now which is crazy to think about! :) pretty much the same thing :) where do you fly out of?
I really want to learn to be a pilot. I have jumped out of planes for years so I want to learn the other side 😂. I won’t lie. I’m scared mainly bc I don’t know squat about flying. One day I will though
My first time landing solo, is still the best I ever made. It was right on the numbers, it was so perfect I had no sensation of touching down, and I was hypersensitive. I waited for a couple of heartbeats, too make sure I was down. 152 Cessna, night at John Wayne airport Newport Beach, California. I’ve owned a 182 for 10 years
That’s awesome! Sometimes in the 425 I fly, the trailing link gear is so soft and forgiving that you don’t even realize your wheels are on the ground haha. That’s awesome can’t beat a 182!
@@EvanLuft how can I connect with you on your social media. I love to be a Pilot and I'm confused about some few things. Please, can you put me through?
Getting my license was the biggest item on my bucket list 20 years ago. My solo was in 6 hrs. and I pushed forward and passed my FAA exams in a few months. Some of my best memories were from my flight school experiences, Enjoyed your video.
I am 16 and I had my first introductory/demo flight for the first time yesterday. It was awesome and I am thinking of continuing. I was in control for a lot of the flight and the instructor said Inwas doing really well. It was so nice
That is awesome to hear! Makes me happy because it reminds me of when I was 16 and learning to fly as well! Such an inspiring time in my life… all the focus, learning, fear, and just joyous moments that I remember. Exploring the world of aviation through the eyes of a student! Keep me posted on your training!
Great video! Got my radio license, medical, and scored 100% on my PSTAR and soloed at the age of 17. And finally passed my flight test on the day I was about to leave and fly back home to Ukraine since the last few days had bad weather. One thing I can tell you, with all that stress and pressure put on you, once you pass it, it all goes away instantly, and it’s the best feeling you get for all hard work and dedication. And I’m happy to say I’m now a Private Pilot at 18.
Great job! Sounds a lot like my story from the beginning. Although… when I was 14, I was told by an instructor that “flying isn’t for you, you are too young and your just not soaking up any of the knowledge”…. 16 years later haha! :) :)
@@bigmoo_. thanks a lot! building hours, learning more about flying, and other life stuff! fishing, traveling! :) Thankfully flying has allowed me to do all of those things! :)
In 1976 I took my first 1 hr lesson in a Cessna 172. 3 days (6 flight hour) later, I soloed. I did 1 cross-country with the instructor then did my first solo cross-country - Same day. 31 days from my first lesson, I had my single engine land license.
Times have sure changed. I learned to fly in 1973. I soloed at 6 hours and passed my PPL at 35 hours. Got my instrument rating in 1992. I built and flew 3 experimental “home built” aircraft over the yrs. My second homebuilt was a Rutan Defiant push pull twin engine canard aircraft flew that one deep into the Caribbean islands, Puerto Rico etc.. flew it to Alaska 3 times from Chicago. I recently received my Wright Bros 50 yr award. From the FAA. I think the award was for flying home made airplanes for 50 years and not seriously crashing . At age 81 I have just sold my last aircraft. What a trip, wonderful memories, and grateful for all those great mentors.
Well made video! I'm an ATP, and one of my good friends is interested in a career change. He says he wants to fly. It's been over 20 years since I started flight training and despite my confidence, I couldn't really come up with any good info for him other than to go to a 61 school and get a demo. I'm sending him this link. It's really explained well. Thank you for your content! ~ Josh
Man thanks a lot josh, means a lot coming from a pilot like yourself! I made another video as well on my channel explaining the costs if you want to send him that as well! :)
I will never forget my 1st solo in a Cessna 172SP. It was a clear day, no wind at all and beautiful. No glass cockpit, old school analog dials, no GPS and no A/C. It was hot as hell in the aircraft that day. I took of 3 times and landed 3 fine (obviously all in the pattern) and it was great! It’s been over 15 years since my last flight.
This brought back memories of my first solo about 16 years ago too!, I can smell the inside of that plane, the bit of avgas and oil, and old interior mustiness. I miss those days when it was you and a pair of wings and some little round dials haha. Recently learned to paraglide…. That’s about as raw as it gets for flying! :)
@@EvanLuft I never completed training. I have maybe 45 total hours. The only reason why I began flying was I had a fear of flying in commercial aircraft. A friend of mine has his private pilot license and he bought me a 30 minute introduction to flying gift card. So I climbed inside a brand new 172SP a few days later that had A/C and full Garmin glass cockpit. What I will never forget is once we were level at 1,000 ft he let me take the yoke and fly. It was at that moment I wanted to sign up. I had to stop training because my wife said it was costing to much money. Oh well. I do miss it.
I did the ground school, Cat3 medical, and altitude (+ rapid decompression) training for my job (propulsion system engineer) for a flight test campaign (B747 SP). I’m this close to going for PPL, thank you for this info!
That’s some pretty cool experience! I’d love to see some of those engines and make a video of how they work, see them run up close. So cool! And yes I’m glad it helped!!
This is spot on with how training goes and is a great video of the details. I assumed my CFI had just winged the training and picked and chose what he wanted to do at what times however after seeing this I guess it is based off of a certain order of curriculum. What he did do different was have me attempt landings at two hours. This is only because I had several thousand hours of sim time over 20 years and had a somewhat detailed knowledge of aviation, reading charts, navigating and reading supplemental and sectional charts as I told him this beforehand. He gave me a mock FAA test the first day just to gauge my knowledge and I made a 60 on it so I had a decent baseline. I was beginning to get half my landings down at about seven hours and had landings down completely with few mistakes in about 8 1/2 hours. That’s the only thing different with me. We tackled straight and level flight with ascent and descent first and then landings and carried on in order from there.
Hi Evan, I have been thinking about getting my PPL for MANY years now and it has seemed kind of daunting but have watched some of your videos and it has inspired me to fully pursue this. Your videos are very informative and make me feel like I should have pursued this YEARS ago. I am in my 50's now and wish I had pursued this when I was younger but the nice thing is at least I can afford it now, I may want to own a plane. Thank You so much for your very informative and entertaining videos.
Thanks mama a lot Michael! Well it’s never too late to start! I always tell people to start with the medical because that is the first step, never know what might creep up that the doc doesn’t like. But you are in NO WAY too late to start! Trust me in that! Where are you based?
@@EvanLuft I am based out of Lakeville Minnesota. That's a great point, I will start with the medical first, because you never know. I do have my UAS Pilot license so I have some familiarity with some of the information but your videos have made the actual PPL seem reasonably attainable.
I finished my PSTAR & Radio licence with 96% in both,Now working at hour building and the PPL licence,I always check on vids like this so I can get Ideas because I’m anxious, great video man!
Good job! I have to admit… you may have done better than me on my PSTAR haha! Keep it up and let me know how it’s going! If you want follow me on the instaaa and we can keep in touch!!
Great video! I am a student out of CFC in At CYBW. Done 3 solos so well on my way. You are right about the solo, I remember every detail. That day will forever be a lifetime highlight for me. The euphoria upon shutting down and realizing “I actually did it” I will never forget. My wife was present to witness my life long dream. Now, to finish the program! Looking forward to cross country
Thats awesome!! I did my training out of the international a long time ago (17 years ago) and sometimes rent from the club. Most of the time I don't think I am checked out on a 172, but it comes back to you like riding a bike.... and it is still super nostalgia when you land a 172.... brings you right back to the days when I was learning! :)
Are you a pilot for a living? I am doing a research about people’s job background before entering the flight school. Your short information would help a lot.
I’m 15 and it just crossed my mind about being a commercial airline pilot as a career. I live in Calgary and I can tell that you live around here too by the scenery in your videos and I have been researching flight licences for the last few weeks and this video really makes it so easy to follow and understand. Thanks for making it!
Hey!! Yup! I’m glad!! If you want to keep in communication with regards to flight training info, send me a message on my insta. Would be glad to help you out! I learned back in 2006 at the international airport. :)
Great video, very informative. Thanks. Its been a life long dream to get a license. Been watching the blue angels and the thunderbirds since i was 2. Never got that dream to happen. Maybe i can still enjoy flying with my friends
For a long time I've tried to find more information on how to obtain my ppl. This is by far the best video I've found yet and I'll be recommending it to anyone with the same interest
I’m starting tommorow! I’m 16 and I feel so hyped, I want to eventually get a commercial license, and nothing can stop me from working hard to get this job
Hey! I’m really glad to hear that! Honestly, I think of when I was doing my flight training almost 15 years ago and it honestly makes me miss it so much. I wish I could go back sometimes to being a student, the journey to becoming a pilot is one that I will always remember.
After working as a pediatrician for over 24 years, I am quitting medicine and becoming an airline pilot. I have not solo'd yet, but I have 20 hours of flight training and completed my ground school. There is no feeling like when you're flying--the view, the freedom, the tranquility.
I am happy to hear that! Especially from someone with your success in the medical field. Aviation is in all of our blood... we just need to discover it :)
Hey! I am really glad to hear! Keep me posted on your flying progress and if you have any questions Id gladly help! You can message me on my instagram as well as it is easy to message there. :) Happy flying!!
@@denisIoI if you have any questions, you can message me on my instaa provided in the description :) Would love to hear more about what inspired you! I was the same age when I started flying!!
@@EvanLuft im 14 and want to pursue a piloting career when do I start (is there an age limit?) and also what should I be looking for in a flight school? I want to start my flying journey as soon as possible
@@bigmoo_. there is no true age limit to when you start training, but most schools would want you to be about 13 id say. In terms of a flight school look for professionality and flexibility. Also if they talk about the financial aspect very clearly then thats a good sign. Also its helpful when they introduce their instructors on their websites because its very important that you are comfortable with the personality of your instructor.
Hi Evan. In relation to the chat about PPL training attached to another of your videos, I noted particularly your comments about how long it took to learn to land. Well, I wish I had done it that quickly! I found that I was so 'frozen' in the final stage of approach and flair that I really had no idea where I was relative to the ground. I couldn't take my eyes from forward to allowing even peripheral vision of the ground out the left corner window. Plus, lack of control over airspeed also meant unpredictable amounts of C152 float, leading to countless massive balloons..... Then in February and March 2020 our grass field became waterlogged with repeated heavy rainfall and instead of attempting to land I was practising approaches and coming closer and closer to the ground, with go-arounds that were nearly touch and go. Slowly I was getting more in control of airspeed and relaxed enough to snatch a glance out the side to see where we were. I'm still not hearing the stall warning sometimes, which says I'm still too tense and blocking the sound input. Being something of a control freak I'm looking forward to being totally in command of myself as well as the aircraft and able to enjoy maximising the quality of the manoeuvre. My tutor must have the patience of a saint. Maybe if I was younger I'd find it easier but at 71 it's difficult to change. . . .
Well put it this way... I hope I can still be flying at 71 so good for you! :) The landing flare is something that I always need to get used to every time I switch aircraft. A lot of the time it is just the perspective out of the window. I know that when I go from flying the turboprop to a small cessna... losing the two engines from my peripheral is enough to throw me off. But that is the nice thing about those 172's is that you have bang them down pretty good and not feel bad about it... so don't be nervous and psych yourself out! :) :)
I work at a FBO and it’s my first job, and I love it, I’ve gotten 6 offers to go flying with people one of which was my boss who offered to take me up sometime during my interview, so far 2 of the 6 people have taken me up, one of those who have offered is a CFI, and another has the 22nd SR22, I took a introductory flight that my grandparents had arranged with a retired American pilot who has a 152 Aerobat, so when I went to visit them in September 2019 I got that flight as a surprise for free my grandparents neighborhood has two airfields one is 3,600ft long x50ft wide and the second is about 3,000ft long x 50ft wide. I’ve been fortunate enough to get a 40 min ride in the 44’ Canadian Fairchild that stays at the FBO, and a Ride around the pattern in the 2013 Piper Malibu Matrix. I’m definitely fortunate to be working where I am as my first job.
That is an interesting story! I tell a lot of new pilots… the best way to get your name out there is by hanging around the airport and networking with others. Sending out resumes is one thing but just talking to people and getting actively involved in the aviation community has proven more beneficial for me :) good information!
@@EvanLuft I would love to see a video on how to get involved with the aviation community before being able to begin flight training. I am at the age where I can get a job, but not old enough to begin flight training. I’m not sure where to start and it would be great if you made a video detailing how to get involved at FBO’s and how to make connections with other like-minded people that can help me on my journey. Thanks. Love the videos.
I'm here just absorbing information and hopefully will start my aviation journey next year. While I have no history of aviators in my family, my Dad was a Navyman aboard the USS Kittyhawk. He has always been enthralled with aviation and airplanes in general, but never learned to fly. I'm wanting to learn as much for me as I am for him.
Thanks Joshua! :) glad to hear there are others that are enthusiastic about the aviation world! :) pretty cool that your dad got to serve in such a machine!
@@EvanLuft yeah he's very prideful of it. Unfortunately they started scrapping it last year down in Houston. Btw I was mistaken about no history of aviation, my dad did get to fly an E-2C for about 45 minutes while he was serving 🤣. That was the plane he serviced while in the Navy.
I’m 16 and next semester I’ll actually be getting my Private Pilots license.I was lucky enough to have an amazing ROTC instructor who pushed heavily to have the aviation honors program added to our school.Only 5 out of the 17 of us will be selected for the license as it’s quite expensive.
Good for you! I can actually look back at my logbook and remember my third hour of flying.... 16 years later which is a fond memory! Keep up the flying and stay safe!! :) :)
I’m 16 and about 18 hours right now. I’m getting close to my first solo and it’s one of the most exciting and nerve racking things. It’s something that I can say I’m doing and completing and it feels like the best thing. Especially after the last couple of year with everything going on. Super excited
That’s great to hear! :) sounds like you were the same age as me when I soloed haha! First solo is a huge milestone so remember to have fun and soak it all in! Any questions reach out to me on my social media! :)
I’m 33 and going for my discovery flight this month to start doing flight school. I see all the comments that everyone started so early. I feel like I’m too late.
I just went on my very first ride in a 172SP. The first time I can remember I've been on a plane. Always loved aviation, want to get my PPL someday... got to take controls for a bit of the plane, too. Still a few years before I can start my training.
Thanks for posting this, I’ve been into aviation for long time but never thought I could be a pilot especially with my fear of turbulence. But just recently I decided to give it a try and got my medical all done and have done my first 3 flight lessons and I have to admit it is such an amazing feeling I can’t wait to get to my checkride and one day fly for the airlines or military. Anyways thanks for your video! Has me even more excited than I was lol
Thats great to hear!! And I have to admit... I LOVE turbulence. A calm no wind day doesnt interest me as much as a weather day of flying. I think it is just the challenge and the fact that I like a little bit of movement in the airplane to keep me awake :p But I do like turbulence a bit. maybe it will grow on you as you continue your training! :) Military would be so cool. Sadly I have to get my eyes corrected to have any chance of flying an F18 haha
I can’t recommend flying for the military enough. On your FIRST SOLO you’ll do aerobatics to include loops, aileron rolls, barrel rolls, immelmanns split-s, Cuban-8s and cloverleafs. Military Pilot training is extremely challenging but extremely rewarding. If you see this and want more info I can give you a few tips on how to get into the military and set up to get a pilot slot, but of course you can always contact your local recruiter for info. If you haven’t been to college, ROTC is the way to go (and obviously the Air Force is the best branch 😜)
@@michaelh.9686 thanks for info! I’d definitely like any pointers you may have I’ve wanted to fly for the AF since JROTC ( I know lol it doesn’t mean much). My only issue why I don’t think I’ll ever be able to is my left eye is only 20/30 corrected. I’m going to get a SODA for a class one medical in civilian aviation but I don’t see the AF ever letting me get by with that. Not sure if you’ve ever heard of anyone flying military with less than 20/20
@@64_Falcon Lots of people have gotten lasik eye surgery to correct their vision. If you feel like it’s your dream then keep chasing it, don’t let anyone tell you no. You are required to have vision correctable to 20/20, but there are allowances for lasik and waivers can be passed. If you’re serious, when in doubt find a recruiter or an active duty officer and just sit down and chat. Be careful with recruiters because they will sometimes tell you what you want to hear and bend the rules a bit. If you’re still in High School, there are scholarships out there to pay for college and JROTC is great for the resume
@@michaelh.9686 I did graduate high school already but I still had it in mind, I need to talk to a recruiter again see what I can maybe if i already have a pilots license, either way as long as I can fly for some living I’ll be happy Thank you for your advice though I really appreciate it. What did you fly in the AF if you don’t mind me asking?
I also see other comments here about the first solo being the best landing and I agree! My first time landing solo was the best landing I have EVER made to this date. I wonder if the added pressure forces us to be more focused.... Great video!
Brilliant video message, I really appreciate all you've said. Unfortunately for me, to this moment the only obstacle that still prevents me from becoming a pilot is the prohibitive cost of the flight training. I have spent decades searching for scholarships/sponsors for and from my part of the world, without the slightest iota of success. Becoming a pilot has been my ambition since childhood (1985) and today this ambition still eludes me, only because of financial constraints and lack of the decisive kind of support.
Thanks so much! Well I got lucky with training because if I had done it today it would have cost a lot more than when I did it. Prices have gone up a lot! Plus depending on what you want to do as a pilot, there are areas where we need more pilots and areas where pilots can’t find jobs.
@@EvanLuft Well, I would love to fly any GA aircraft like G550/G650/G700, BBJ737, ACJ320 and C280 VIP Caravans. I would also like to be a test pilot for any of my childhood aircraft designs; I'm also an artist who's into transportation design (and see them get developed perhaps as a member of a small start-up aircraft manufacturer).
Thank you for a Most Informative video. I’m an ‘Old Guy’ and I’m now retired and seriously considering getting my PPL. You’ve provided me with some Great Information! Thanks Again!

Thank you this is so helpful!! I am from Australia and I am planning to get my private pilot licence done in the State after I finish uni for one of my bucket list.
Im a retired Naval aviator, flew both props and jets from carriers. Good video though I never went the civilian route until after the Navy. Like anything in life, you fight like you train, or in this case fly. Obviously military flying is different in so many ways but the great thing is being the non stop flying. It is a perishable skill for younger aviators and if a student doesnt have the money in the civilian world, the flying stops. I think that is the downside of the civilian way. Though the military isn't for every one. I was landing on carriers with 200 flight hours, you move through the program. I would highly recommend the military way.
Very interesting take on this and I completely agree. Always wanted to go the military route up here in Canada but my corrected vision was an issue. Known some pilots who had been on an F-18 up here in just a few hundred hours! So cool!!! and.... carrier landings?? only a dream!! haha Would love to hear some of your stories.
You deserve to be followed. From Nobekaw, Ghana 🇬🇭. I’m in the process of getting into flight school now. Thanks kindly for this video. It has given me hope to go get it done.

Got my PPL 30 years ago in 1991 in Rome, Georgia. The planes I flew in my training days didn't look half as flash as those in your video though 😞 I remember we used a hand held mic' which we just chucked on the floor after a radio call. Happy days! On my first solo, I completed four 'touch n goes' it was so much fun! The strange thing was though, that first solo was such an anti-climax - it seemed easier than having the instructor beside me. Can't accurately remember the cost but was probably no more than $2000.
Haha I love these older stories! I met a lady not long ago that flew clients into her fishing camp for 60+ years…. When she died they found out she never had a pilots license! Haha
@@grahamcargle Yeah, I learned at a flight school called Silver Hawk Aviation, run by Brett Cookston (folded 20 odd years ago).I wonder what he's up to now?
Hello Evan, congrats on getting your PPL and thank you so much for uploading the video as it has a lot of valuable information. Would you please give us an idea about how much did it cost you from A to Z including the extra hours and any equipments you had to purchase or rent for this purpose. Thank you so much for the all the information.
Thanks! I actually did my license back in 2006 but have been helping others pursue their aviation passion since then! :) I will make a video with all of the cost break downs as well!! :)
Did you ever make a video about the costs of getting a PPL? I’m not so concerned about the exact numbers, but more so about what is free what is not free and how often you had to pay (e.g. per hour, per session, or pay everything in full in advance, etc). Do you pay for fuel when fly? Do you rent the airplane per hour? Do you pay per classroom session? Or is there a flat fee for everything?
I'm really looking forward to trying to get my license. I'm a type 1 diabetic so I hope the medial will allow me to fly still. Also on night flying is it not hard to see or do you rely a lot on your instruments when landing? Thanks for all the info!
Hey! A fella I know really well got diabetics approved for private licenses here in canada. I don’t know the details but it is very interesting! That’s awesome! Night flying is so much fun. Mostly visual as cities and lights are easy t see. But most f my flying now is done via instruments through weather.
Hey Evan, I've watched so many videos on the process of it all but there's so little information on the reasons and benefits of getting a PPL. Like how would I practically justify spending ~10k if I don't tend to turn it into a career? The only benefit I've heard is personal travel (maybe you can address planning a personal travel trip with your PPL in a later video). Lowkey feel like I would enjoy flying but it's just difficult to justify it. Idk maybe you can speak to some of the benefits of it better than I can. Thanks!
I will do for sure! Despite even the pandemic and pilots out of work, flight schools in my area are busier than they have ever been. Surprising! I will put together something that addresses this and much more soon! :)
@@colinbartram3467 sometimes the best reason to fly... is having no reason at all. :p If its for personal enjoyment then a private license is all that is needed. Can still have the multi and IFR on a private license. :)
@@TheDroneNerd That is correct. The commercial license is what you need to set your goal as. However to get your commercial license you must first get your private license. 1. Private License 2. Night, Multi engine and IFR ratings. 3. Commercial License.
Definitely challenging but not impossible, I’m nearing 17 years old and with this info I feel a bit more confident I thought it would be way more harder but soon I’ll end up seeing if I do get my licence, great video dude, hopefully I’ll be able to give you an update whenever I do manage to get it, whenever that day will be anyways.
Looking forward to start this summer. I have been watching a lot of videos, just to have an idea about what i am getting myself into so far you are one of the best.
I recently became interested in doing a demo flight and possibly looking into getting my private pilot's license. I enjoyed watching your very informative video!

Did my discovery flight as part of a college course I took as filler. I had always thought it would be cool to learn, but I never thought I'd actually get the change to fly. I had no idea it could take such little time to get my PPL, which I've wanted to finish ever since. Maybe it's time to start looking in earnest. I'm already working on my remote pilot cert, so I've got a head start on a little bit of the ground school portion.
I’m 17 and just did my first solo flight the other day and did 5 taxi backs. I was so nervous before actually doing it but after my instructor got out of the plane all those nerves went away and I just flew the plane.
awesome! And one day you'll look back and remember that feeling 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 years down the road and it'll take you right back to that moment. I still get nervous and that snese of "i don't think I'm ready for this every time I get back into a cessna 172. :)
Great video! I’m about to take my check ride tomorrow to get my PPL! Also, the section of the chart you show at 5:56 happens to be the area where I live and learned to fly. I know that area of the sectional very well at this point!
Thanks Joe! I made another video for the private pilot license cost breakdown on my channel! You can check it out! :) never too late to get your PPl!!!

Awesome Tyler!! Make sure you enjoy yourself too!!! And learn lots. I ducked the first time so even if you do too at first, it just keeps getting better! :) :)
Awesome informative video! As I have been delving into flight school, plane options, etc. it is nice to know what I’m up against and things like this are what makes it seem much less intimidating! Ultimately my goal is to achieve my PPL, plan on purchasing my own plane(as a hobby), and perhaps in the future of that, multi engine. Although unlikely, added peace of mind is there in case of engine failure, as well as I would like the ability to eventually fly with 4 adults(myself and 3 passengers) and it seems to be the best way to go(so far) for power and usable load! I am excited about the adventure that lays before me!

Nice story
Which school did you fly at?
Looking forward to starting my PPL after graduating college in January. I have no family history in aviation but I am sooo excited to learn!

Getting my license was the biggest item on my bucket list 20 years ago. My solo was in 6 hrs. and I pushed forward and passed my FAA exams in a few months. Some of my best memories were from my flight school experiences, Enjoyed your video.
That’s awesome!! So glad to hear that! And thanks! :) I think my solo was around 10 or 12 haha
6 hours?! Nice
I am on that path right now!!!

No age restriction on how early I don’t think but to hold the private license you must be 17! My intro flight was at 14.
@@EvanLuftWow thats so inspiring. What did you do from the age of 14 up until now. Congrats too btw.
@@bigmoo_. thanks a lot! building hours, learning more about flying, and other life stuff! fishing, traveling!
That is impressive!

I'm here just absorbing information and hopefully will start my aviation journey next year. While I have no history of aviators in my family, my Dad was a Navyman aboard the USS Kittyhawk. I can’t wait to get to my checkride and one day fly for the airlines or military. Anyways thanks for your video! Has me even more excited than I was lol
Thats great to hear!! And I have to admit... I LOVE turbulence. A calm no wind day doesnt interest me as much as a weather day of flying.
@@michaelh.9686 I did graduate high school already but I still had it in mind, I need to talk to a recruiter again see what I can maybe if i already have a pilots license, either way as long as I can fly for some living I’ll be happy

I remember we used a hand held mic' which we just chucked on the floor after a radio call. Happy days! On my first solo, I completed four 'touch n goes' it was so much fun! The strange thing was though, that first solo was such an anti-climax - it seemed easier than having the instructor beside me.

I'm just saving up right now to start my ppl and it's the most excited I've ever been to do something
Great to hear Zach! And remember, take advantage of getting to know lots of other pilots and always keep learning from others experiences :)
Professional as always
I tried lol
Hey YEH was one of my faves at the club. Nice to see we flew the same plane 😊. Cheers bro
Can I able to work in Canada after my flight training if I'm an international student ?
I believe you may need some sort of visa to work but the flight school would be able to provide more information
I honestly think you have the best aviation channel on YT. Truly enjoy your vids
Thanks so much!! Means a lot coming from my first dedicated followers! :) :)
@@EvanLuft I can't put my finger on it, but there's something a little more real about your channel. Keep doing what your doing my friend.
Haha thanks!! :) I will do!! :) :)
In my case it's simply for the enjoyment and sense of achievement.
@@colinbartram3467 sometimes the best reason to fly... is having no reason at all. :p If its for personal enjoyment then a private license is all that is needed. Can still have the multi and IFR on a private license. :)
@@EvanLuft so the PPL will not make you any money? It’s just for pure enjoyment ? I would like to make this a career. What’s the best way ?
@@TheDroneNerd That is correct. The commercial license is what you need to set your goal as. However to get your commercial license you must first get your private license. 1. Private License 2. Night, Multi engine and IFR ratings. 3. Commercial License.
Thanks for the great video! I'm about to start a flight school program and hope to be a commercial pilot within the next few years!
Thanks for this video. I'm in my 40s and have decided to pursue my PPL over the next 6 months. This was very helpful.
Thanks you for this. I plan on getting mine I’m only 14 right now so I plan on starting once I’m closer to 16.
I am thinking about taking course ppl next year and this video just popped up randomly cool thanks for the info
I am glad it helped! PPL is the starting point! :)
Thanks I appreciate it a lot! Yes keep me updated!
This is a great video. I'm soon turning 45, and being a pilot is my childhood dream. You get me one step closer to start the training! 🤨
So glad you don’t have any dislikes. Great content, very well presented.
Thanks so much! I never thought there were so many interested in getting their pilot license!
I'm excited to start ! I'm doing sportys training online for the ground. I scheduled my first flight with the instructor and can't wait
I’m so glad to hear that! Remember…. have fun while you’re learning. I landed pretty hard the other day and i am about 2000 landings total now haha
Looking forward to start this summer. I have been watching a lot of videos, just to have an idea about what i am getting myself into so far you are one of the best.
Hey Jean! Thanks a lot! I’m glad it has helped! I will keep posting more to help! :)
I’ve been doing research to start my journey. I’m so excited! Thank you for sharing your experience
That’s great!! If you want, send me a message on Insta, @evan_lufty and if you have any questions at all I can defs help!!
I recently became interested in doing a demo flight and possibly looking into getting my private pilot's license. I enjoyed watching your very informative video!
I currently fly a PPC and would love to get my PPL to fly fixed wing. Great video!
Awesome! And thanks a lot I’m glad it helped!
Wowww, I Learned Soooo Much Watching Your Video. Thank You for Walking Me Through the Process... I'm Nervously Excited about getting Started... I'll watch this video many more times before I take a leap of Faith, Wish Me Luck and Happy Flying...
I am happy to hear that! If you have other questions too about the ppl or commercial pilot license, don’t hesitate to ask! :) I’m glad to help!
Haven’t flown anywhere else but Ontario has to be one of the nicest places to do the flying
Out west here is unreal!!! The mountains area flying paradise! Although you got some good fishing out there too
@@EvanLuft well hopefully if one of my applications gets a hit I’ll be heading there soon to instruct lol. Solid video man
Nice. Love your video! I am thinking about getting my Private Pilot License
I’m going to start flight training soon, and this video was extremely helpful. Thank you.
Thank you! This video was really helpful I am interested in becoming a pilot but did not know how to start
I am really glad it helped. If you have any questions feel free to reach out Justin I am always willing to give any advice I can on the entire Pilot training process as I went through it a long time ago but a lot of it is still relevant today :-)
Looking forward to starting my training next year!
I'm currently 13, a little young but in 2 weeks I'm getting an intro flight to see if flying's for me, I honestly can't wait. Thanks for this video (:
Good for you! I hope the intro flight hooks you, I am sure it will! Feel free to keep in touch if you have any questions :)
Hey bro how it is going?
Good for you!! Message me on my social media! We should connect since we are in the same area!
Also! Good luck tomorrow!! :) :) :)
Thank you for the video I remember trying to get my pilots license and everything you say is right on the button
Thanks!! I’m glad to hear that from a fellow pilot
I got my Part 107 certification recently, now time to get my Private Pilot license!
Yes!!
I'm planning to start it in Janaury. Excited for it.
Awesome!!
I’m starting this Sunday I’m so excited
Awesome tony!!!
Loved your video, very well done!!!
You didn't mention cost...
I wish i were 15 again , i would go for it!
Thanks Joe! I made another video for the private pilot license cost breakdown on my channel! You can check it out! :) never too late to get your PPl!!!
This was super informative. Thank you! 🙏🏼
Hi I'm 16 and just about to start my ppl thanks for the video
Anytime!!!
My dude thank you for this video. Very helpful and informative. Planning on doing an intro flight soon.
One of the our followers they said Dreamed biggest impossible to possible because nothing impossible unless you never ever dreamed tried or given up too soon thank you everyone for sharing
Thank you for your insight and experience!! I am an aspiring pilot and I am planning to take up flying school after I graduate college next year. I am mustering up all the courage and knowledge that I can.
Anytime! I’m glad it helped! Best advice I can offer… little secret is… but flight simulator to mess around at home. I learned 50% of all my aviation knowledge from that alone. I was a flight sim nerd though! Haha
Thank you for this video. I am considering getting my license and this was very informative. It was even a little scary, but gave me a great idea of what I will have to do and will help me make my decision.
I’m glad it helped! Thanks Derek!
This is all I needed to actually get on board! TYVM for this info! I was going to do it last year...but decided to wait till 2022 cuz of work overload and had no open weekends. But now...I feel like I'm ready!!! :D
Fantastic! That makes me really happy to hear that! If you have any questions, even specifics about the flying itself, just reach out to me and I can try my best to pass on any advice and experience! :)
never saw a video so detailed, thanks for the experience.. really appreciate it
Thanks a lot! I am glad it helped! :) :) cheers!
I'm very glad for your video and hope my instructor will be as capable as yours
Thanks Greg! :)
I start flying next week!!! So excited.
Awesome Tyler!! Make sure you enjoy yourself too!!! And learn lots. I ducked the first time so even if you do too at first, it just keeps getting better! :) :)
Well done 👍🏼! I hope that you’re a teacher or instructor. You have an excellent speaking voice!
I actually am not! Although I do teach on the turboprops that I fly for type ratings :)
Awesome!! Thanks so much! :) yes the multi can be safer as long as you are proficient in the training and recurrent practice :)
im really excited to start working on getting my PPL!
I’m really glad to hear that!! :) it’s wel worth it!!
Wow things changed..I had to go write an exam at transport canada …your experience was much more productive
I had to write mine with transport canada as well
