    So this is the NEW model Ultion with extra security features (very good anti-bump, snap and drill protection) and interesting security pins. Less than 2 min to pick but over an hour to reassemble - it’s a complicated mechanism for certain! :-)

      Excellent video as always, i have the GJ locks Ultion pick and thankfully you can just turn the tool upside down for the new version and buy a seperate picking wire for it, i've not come across one of these yet but looking forward to it!

    It's fascinating, Ultion seem to be trying so hard to keep us out but they don't seem to be managing! Very interesting video, I didn't know Ultion had released a new model!

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be fair, I don’t think they are too concerned about picking attacks :-)

  • @LeeW553

    I've got the older model lock and I've picked one myself, it took my about 10 minutes but I'm not a practiced picker. The pickability of the lock doesn't worry me. The scumbags that are going to break in to your house don't have the intelligence to learn a skill like lock picking, the only thing they can pick is fleas off each other, they are going to snap or drill the lock and then smash a window.

  • @dazevers

    Really interesting lock, & definitely looked like a nightmare to take apart, but well worth it to see the pins. Great video.

    Just received my new multipick flag picks this morning and tried out first pick on a dimple cylinders. I have original mk1 ultions on my home. I managed to pick a cylinder but it was very stiff to rotate, much more resistance that when turning with key.

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That stiffness can be such to a few reasons, none of them good, never force a lock open if it’s stiff as you could damage it accidentally :-)

  • @JPA66
    @JPA66 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice quick pick Ash! Just started trying to pick my first dimple lock. Not very successful yet.

  • @jonathancross8550
    @jonathancross8550 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Seems well equipped to defend against destructive & kinetic attacks but far less so to counter picking attempts. Very interesting to see the make up of it following a gutting.

  • @TequilaDave
    @TequilaDave 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That's cool the fact you can take it apart to gut it easier so you don't have to use segmented followers or cut it in two.

    • @LockNoob

      It’s sort of cool, but very complicated too :-)

    I have one of these on my front door. Internal thumblock only which is annoying, my door has glass in it so smashing that and simply putting your arm through and opening it is the main weakness. Lock seems decent enough, but as I say would love a key operated locking option inside the door.

    I have just ordered my first dimple practice lock, could you recommend a decent but cheapish dimple set? In the meantime I'm working on a 5 pin Iseo euro cylinder, had it open a few times but for the most part it's a complete nightmare and eludes me, I think it has at least 4 spools and is around 15 years old so it's a bit crunchy inside to say the least!! Thanks for the video, cheers!

    Seeing all the anti drill protection features on these locks I was wondering how often locks get drilled - with hardened steel inserts I am sure it would snap a lot of drill bits

    • @FortressLocksmiths
      @FortressLocksmiths 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Keith, I have had to drill a couple of the older versions out and to be honest the hardened steel inserts dont make much difference. Using a 6mm hardplate drill bit on a slow setting eats it like butter.

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As an attack? I doubt that it’s that viable because of the time it would take. Probably more viable when locks had no drill protection at all I imagine :-)

    This barrel is 3 star. They released a 3 star plus 19/11/2019. It comes with £2000 guarantee, and fitted with extra pins. Ultion do really seem to make the effort to improve their locks

    Really cool lock, shame the keyway is like a wizards sleeve mind! (Too many inappropriate comments running through my head right now so I'll keep it PG 😆😆 ) I actually think they would have been better off sticking with deep spools rather than those fine serrations mind. • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am. They are honest Dong Shi picks. Once you spend about 20-30 minutes per pick, they are as good as the Multipick picks - but that’s the thing - how much do you value your time? With the other commercial picks, I find they are all useable, but you get what you pay for :-)
