    SUPER JOB! I can't tell you what a relief it is to FINALLY see that Mauer picked open! It wasn't apparent in the video how diffucult this lock was to open, you made it look easy, but I can attest to the lock's complexity. LPL is probably one of only a few people on the planet to have the skills. Congratulations! Score one for the Tribe!

      Honestly, it's almost a little annoying that failure to pick something is rarely if ever shown on this channel. Where is LPLs naughty bucket? Surely there's got to be one! Nobody is that good, right?

    • @russellashburn6268
      @russellashburn6268 6 ปีที่แล้ว +202

      Considering BB's skill and how much effort he puts into a lock before giving up on it (sometimes days of effort) and comparing it to how fast LPL opened this I would wager that there is no naughty bucket in LPLs shop, he's just that good.

    • @DonzLockz
      @DonzLockz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +67

      FuttFel LPL surely has a naughty bucket (on video, an old one) and maybe Bill has taken it.🤔🤔🤔

      Most doors in Europe have locks like this "monster". Some of them even more complicated. The door to my apartment in Switzerland for example has a Kaba Star lock with a chip in the key and the key itself looks a bit more complicated then this one. Without the chip, the lock won't turn. I'm not saying, that LPL couldn't still pick that somehow, though xD

    Thank you for this info... My son lost my Harley key years ago and after several years I decided to ride the old girl but no barrel key to be found anywhere, a lock smith would be 200 bucks to even come out "I live in the mountains" so after watching you and others on you tube I purchased a set of HUK picks for 20 bucks and within 4 min I had the 4 barrel locks open. As soon as the cutter arrives I will cut some new keys AND most of all the locksmith I had called never showed up as he said he would. Now I don't need him AND I learned a lot. Thank you LPL.

    • @chinchilla641
      @chinchilla641 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      They slide to the right and left into the slots on the side of the core, locking it. The small bumps about halfway through the sliders themselves align with the linear indent on the key. This aligns them in the center so that they dont protrude from either side of the core. LPL pushed them to one side to begin then picked them to the other side, but because of the the tension they do not protrude out the other side of the core.

    A few questions:
    What do the passive pins do?
    How do sliders work?
    What do the numbers on the sliders mean?

    • @mdemers767
      @mdemers767 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was wondering about those numbers as well. They weren't in order, so my guess was that they were some type of depth or size measurement so that the key could be cut correctly, but LPL said that he just had to push them out of the way (I think that these were those parts he was referring to...) far enough so that they weren't obstructing the rotation of the cylinder, so that doesn't sound right...

    • @Ondrej.U

    Congratulations! you made it look easy! difficult lock to open. I can attest to the lock's complexity. LPL is probably one of only a few people on the planet to have the skills.

    It took me about 2 hours of trying to get a lock like that open. The design was almost exactly the same. It was incredibly difficult. I needed to use a rake to hold the sliders in place and then pick each dimple while holding the breaker bar. It was crazy. I think I shredded the pins while doing this from all the tries.

    Beautiful job mate! That's the sort of thing I attempt because I love tinkering with anything mechanical. Unlike you however, my hands would be shaking just enough to drop half the bits, I'd forget where certain parts came from and end up having to throw the whole thing away! LOL. Well done.(I would have had a fun couple of hours though)

    LPL is the Master. Taught by BB and exceeded his teacher.
    That is every teachers' dream, to have a student you taught go on to exceed you. BB with his protége LPL and another example George Daniels with his protége Roger W. Smith. Both in the small precise engineering world, lockpicking and horology.

    Definitely the higher security locks are way more interesting.
    As much as I respect the disc detainer cores, they are not as enjoyable to watch.
    Thanks for a great vid LPL
