Haha thanks we tried 😅 can't lie it was a bit of a struggle but glad we were still able to vlog and not be total munters 😂 mozzies.. they're the worst!
I recently got home from my trip to Greece and this video made me so happy. An incredible country with beautiful sights and so much history. Looking forward to your next videos!
Aye yaaaaa $26.75 for two sammies?? At least you threw some crisps in the sammy kiwi style😁… Was it so expensive because it’s a tourist area? You guys did great running on 2 1/2 hrs of mosquito 🦟 interrupted sleep… very informative and great views… very cool to see (was really into Greek mythology as a kid) these places we’ve studied about growing up… Looking forward to the Greece series!! By the way 🇰🇷 🧟♂️ 😢
Dude r u OK? Bit of a brutal loss from the 🧟♂️ hopefully he can bounce back but I read that he's considering retirement. Holloway is such a great fighter too though, that division has too much talent. I think it's because that's a tourist area. Things are more expensive than normal and not much was open either during that time 😅
@@PeterandYen pretty sad to see, but he went out on his own terms… KZ’s walk out was pretty cool with the whole arena singing Zombie.. glad he retired…
What a dream to visit Athens! You woke up early, and still the line was quite long. It is so incredible to think that these magnificent places were built so long ago. Sounds like the Greeks eat later like we do in Spain, we don't usually serve lunch before 2, 2:30 pm. Love all the historical facts you share guys, Socrates was a brilliant mind to my eyes. The views are astonishing 😍🥰
The lines got waaaay longer by the time we left the whole area was really crowded. No wonder the staff seemed very stressed out and patience was at their limit hahaha. Yeah I think europe in general has later eating hours. We're used to eating lunch at 12 and dinner around 6 😅 what time do you guys normally eat Maria?
@@PeterandYen in Spain we have 5 meals. Breakfast at 8-9 am, mid morning snack at 11, 12pm, (sometimes we have aperitivo: a couple of small tapas before lunch, at around 1:30-2 pm) lunch at 3pm, mid afternoon snack at 6-7pm and dinner 9-10pm I think Spain has the latest hours 😂 you can see people in restaurants finishing dinner by 11:30pm. It took me a while to get Lieles accustomed to that 😂 sometimes I make lunch at 1 or so, so he can be happy 😂
@PeterandYen I've always loved Jason and the Argonauts. A favourite writer of mine, Tim Severin had a replica of a bronze age galley built and recreated Jason's voyage, getting to modern-day Colchis, Georgia. He then recreated Odysseus' route using the same ship. Mind-blowing 😊
That's so cool! ⛵️ those are all great stories. As a kid I always enjoyed the tales of Hercules and always watched that series as well as xena the warrior princess when it was on TV 😁
Thank you for showing us another beautiful and historical landmark of Athen, Greece. It looks like it has fallen apart, hence why so many construction behind it. I don't know when I will get a chance to see it. Hahaha, I had nlmy fair share of mosquitoes during our caravanning Australia. One of the nights we stayed up so late just so we czn get rid of it, it won't stop buzzing around our ears. We got woken up by it, too 😅
Hiya Tedy 👋 I think like many ruins, people are constantly trying to restore and preserve them for the next generations so unfortunately we caught it at a time with all the construction and scaffolding 😅 hope you'll get a chance to see it (and with less construction work happening!) Oh my goodness mozzies are the worst 🥲🥲🥲
@PeterandYen It's good that they do that so our next generation can see it. Europe is on my list, but I am not sure when I'm able to. I wanna go to the Netherlands, Scotland, etc
I wonder why they built these monuments where they did?? Obviously for the views etc but was there more to it?! Thanks for sharing! You are such a lovely couple and I can see your passion for where you explore
That's very kind of you thank you! Great question! We were wondering the same too but I guess it's mostly for the views and vantage points in case of any attacks 🤔
Hey Guys, Another great video. You guys definitely looked tired. It seems like a good time in Athens. Unfortunately when we were there was a public transit strike and all our carefully laid plans were out the window. Looking forward to your next video.
Oh nooo that's such a shame! Where were you hoping to go visit? Were you able to get there by other means in the end? Always so tricky with travel! The first time we experienced a train strike during all our travels was in Italy 😅 such an ordeal
@@PeterandYen We did. We took cabs back and forth to the Acropolis from the cruise port. That took every single Euro we had, the additional fees tacked onto the fare was pretty disappointing. It made us very careful for the rest of our time there, and with reason.
Oh yikes that would've cost a lot! 😓 But I guess it's either that or miss it completely on that visit. The ups and downs of traveling ay. When did you guys visit?
@@PeterandYen We went in 2012, which really seems like a lifetime ago now. We went to Crete right after and before was Ephesus. We had spent time in Rome and Messina as well on that trip.
😁 thanks for the great tips! We're already back in New Zealand but we did train to meteora 👍 coming up in a future vlog. Gonna have to reserve that sailing ⛵️ for a future trip
Thank you! Yes we got it back all good after but the people there really didn't seem to like us taking a video of ourselves even without our mic or explaining that we were just vlogging and not journalists 😅 Don't recall there being bag checks before entering at least not when we visited.
…by the way more randomness… last night was reading about difference in feet and how they are classified.. do you what makes a foot classified as a Greek foot?
@@PeterandYen I didn’t either until like 2 days ago.. Greek foot is when the second toe is longer than the the big toe and the remaining three toes are consecutively shorter.. but an aboriginal foot the second and third toe are longer than the big toe.. A Roman foot has the first three toes level and the remaining two are descending in size.. an Egyptian foot has all five toes descending in length… I think there are like 6-8 types of foot shape.. had no idea… learn random useless stuff daily 😂😂😂
