    Apologies for repeating this in two reviews but I think it's very important to allow reviewers to be free to express their opinions:
    "But if you disagree with the sound they seem to take legal action to shut you up!!! Erin at erinsaudio reviewed Tekton & apparently they threatened him with legal action.
    Buy something else guys.
    Don't let companies get away with this childish behaviour"

    Perhaps the most engaging thing about Tekton Speakers is the pallet of colors offered. The dizzying array
    of tweeters serves to occupy the mind in a way that the sound becomes mesmerizing. I can honestly say
    I have never heard anything quite like them.

      If you make 2 ways try a trickle of upper med (under a khz) fed into the tweeter. Maybe like a 6 mf cap highly resisted in parl with the main tweeter cap. It may sound a bit cold and "squarky". So go up one more value in the med inductor (on the woofer) to compensate. You may have to muck around with the crossover for a while to get it balanced but your speakers will sound like Tektons! You will love the voice sound. I got that idea from some (old school) KEF 2 ways, after looking inside.

    I use the Tekton Enzo 2.7 which is similarly configured to the Perfect SET 10, but the Enzo is 98db efficient and goes perfectly with the 2 Watt Decware amp that I use it with. Also, the Enzo has two 8" drivers instead of two 10" drivers. Same price as the Perfect SET 10. The Decware/Tekton duo is absolutely fantastic, especially low level listening at night.

    • @Justwantahover

      Transients are better from the small drivers just below one kHz, and thereby making the speakers good at low levels.

      I , too, have Omega speakers (Compact Alnico Monitors) and also Tekton Design Lore Reference speakers. I run them with either a 300B amp or Schiit Aegirs in mono block mode. The Omegas seem to sound best with the 300B and the Tektons with the Aegirs. The Omegas and the Tektons are very distinct from each other and I would have a hard time picking a favourite. It all depends on my mood and the type of music I’m listening to.

    When used the way this speaker was designed to be (low power tube set ups hence the single ended triode or SET in the name) I'm sure it's fantastic. But if you really want a Tekton speaker to perform the low cost giant killer magic they are know for then you have to step up to the Double Impact or Moab. The Double Impact has the midbass drivers which, as I understand it, allow the tweeter array that serves as the midrange to be crossed over a little higher and the woofers to be crossover a little lower. This allows all the drivers in the speaker to perform within their optimum range and it does make a big difference. The Moab has the advantage of having two of the tweeters as midrange arrays with and extra tweeter as midrange in each which takes the burden off just one group doing so. Again, this allows for less strain (not to mention increased surface area) on the tweeters serving as mid's when they reach down into the lower ranges which makes for more impact while maintaining undistorted coherency. Stepping up to the Encores gives the best of both worlds with doubled tweeter/mid arrays and midbass drivers.

      @Marten Dekker Perhaps, but without hearing them both side by side it's impossible to say for sure. However, while the old school of thought is the less drivers the better we have to understand that technology has changed and problems of the past aren't always problems anymore. My way of thinking anymore is listen and be honest about what you hear. To assume one way or another is best will leave you missing out on a lot of great gear.

      @@helenrinde6938 I wish I had more experience using the pendragon exclusively as a 2 ch, or front speaker set up.. I have been primarily been using these are rears.. However, My little brother also owns pendragon speakers, so I feel I am somewhat qualified to pick them apart. They have a lot more in common than they do have in differences.. I feel like the double impact is really like just a step up in a lot of ways.. You will get everything the pendragon offers, but with a tiny bit better dynamic swing, and a LOT better soundstage. Both speakers are insane.. My wife and I were just barely at a Magnolia best buy (the high end audio store in certain best buys). The sales person and I hit it off quickly and were talking all sorts of jargon. Even though I had no interest in buying new speakers, as we both have a passion for high end audio he wanted to demo his favorite set ups. He was running a Marantz 8805, with some B&W speakers that were in the 15k-ish price range. He demoed them through a lossless streaming service. When we left, my wife and I felt very let down. They had a perfect set up, their preamp was a step up from mine (7705 marantz), and of course his room was acoustically superior. The B&W speakers really had nothing on the Tektons. I feel like that goes for the Pendragon as well. Both speakers truly sound amazing.. But I feel like I never truly new what a soundstage was, until I heard the Double impacts. Sorry for the long reply. Best of luck.. I couldn't recommend Tekton more highly.

    while Klipsch are more dynamic in word , they don't sound more like live music to my ear . Many , many live music shows/venues , some good audio , some so so , some amazing , The Tekton's I have listened to approach as close to being at a small venue with great sound as anything I have listened to . In fact closer . They just sound organic , textured , fleshy .

    • @artsabound7627
      @artsabound7627 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@michaelslevin1214 The mlores are in the smaller class , it depends on ones price point target . The models with more drivers will be more dynamic with more punch and with multiple high frequency drivers more mid range , I have heard them called on the bright side but that would be a matchup issue . I personally like the single driver , single tweeter array .The lores and likely mlores drive the bass driver full range up to about 5khz so it gives an overlap of mid between woofer and tweeter that sounds amazingly natural to my ear . I listen to something like Dianna Krall's Temptation on my set up and it sounds like she is in the house . The mlores are the same flavor , a bit smaller scale . I like the deep low end the towers deliver as compared to smaller models , also the texture rendering . So my taste lies in their less expensive models as a natter of convenience . Though I would love to listen the a perfect set 12 set up with tubes or a first watt .

    Steve, your thoughts on the Tekton Perfect Set 2-10 in comparison to the Cornwalls, brought forth the idea of purchasing the Tekton Perfect Set 15's, based on the comment of the Cornwalls 15 inch driver offering something the 10 incher's couldn't on the low end. Did I hear that right? The PS15's are 98db and imagine combining them with the Decware amp, might be a great combination... Just following a line of thought.

    • @SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac
      @SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well, both speakers have 15 woofers, but that's all the have in common! Cornwalsl are much larger, have higher sensitivity, and have horn midrange and tweeter. But sure the SET 15 decware combo would be a winner.

    I am sure they are great. However one thing people should know is that they are giving a delivery time of 12 weeks AKA 3 Months. On top of that IF you cancel your order it's a 15% surcharge. So currently they go for 2100. If you cancel your order because you do not wish to wait 3 months then they deduct 315.00 This info is only available in the FAQ section.
    A better practice would be to place the info prominently and let people make an informed decision. I found out the hard way, I'm bitter.

    I am thinking a lot about maybe building a Decware to join some 100db+ with benign load (like the Cornwalls which are what 102db and 8 ohm nominal),Now Mr.Alexander thinks that modern speakers should use 4 ohm as opposed to the 8 ohm everyone has shot for.He has a video up explaining that the improvements in amplifier designs allow for them to run at lower loads without shutting down and that gives designer like him the opportunity to go in that direction (as has Andrew Jones and others),But what about the low power crowd?The Perfect Sets.So I for one have looked forward to this type of review.My only complaint is that you chose this new model.The other two models ("The Perfect SET" with 12" baas driver and SET 15 with you guessed 15" woofers well both these models can run off a single watt!!!!!!Anybody else thinking about the LTA MZ2 or MZ3 headphone line stages which conveniently ad speaker binding posts to hook up your speakers to get a single watt of output."First Watt" Indeed!!!!!

    I've owned a 2-10 perfect set since the end of April, playing through primaluna dialogue integrated tube amp. I think it is 28 amps or so max, ultralinear or triode switch. It is definitely a 40 to 30000 hz speaker. Off the wall adjustment seemed more critical do to rear porting. As Steve mentioned a much faster mid AND high range. The lows however, are very realistic and linear at all but the lowest volume level. These speakers are nice for all types of listening, Carter family folk/bluegrass, to Gorillaz. I believe in playing rock loud, but jazz and bluegrass more subdued.

  • @AdrianIII
    @AdrianIII 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Not much about the low bass capability of the 2-10. Does it need a subwoofer? If you add a good subwoofer would it catch up with the Klipsch with respect to scale?
    I still wish you would include classical music in your reviews... solo piano to full orchestra. I have always found classical music to be the most difficult for any speaker to produce realistically. (And for the engineers to record realistically!) What do you think, Steve?
