That small village "Pani Tanki" is most probably a labour camp, it was not there in 2011 (last when I visited). The labourers working for BRO must have settled there. They were Nepali people. Being at such high altitude and extreme weather, not all people from rest of the country can do hard labour and survive there.

I have been to Tawang two years back and let me tell you how amazing the trip was! Leaving the crowded, polluted and noisy city where I live in, Staying in Tawang was such a holistic experience. Everything was so perfect- the people, the food, the calmness, the scenary and the whole experience was os majestic. I have loved every bit of the journey! Especially the interaction we had with the Indian army. We drank free beers, samosas and danced with them on the snow. They were so lovely, I tell you. Man, I will remember it even if I am 98 years old.
Fantastic gesture on offering the kids with sweets. Their smiles, joy & happiness was indeed worth watching & infectious. Made my day !Have a great time & safe journey wherever you travel 👍

went there last year in december on bike....toughest thing i ever did. nothing compare to this one for me. we had to come back just kilometers away from madhuri lake coz the bike was slippling like crazy we fell 2-3 time but were luck to see bumla pass( only we were the lucky ones to be allowed there that day. Indian army serving there are the real heroes.

Love from Maharashtra... damn our soldiers from Maharashtra do duty in heavy snow that's very challenging. the reason I am pointing it out is cause Punjab people are from North India where they are used to it with Cold environment but we Maharashtra state comes in a hot region and trust me, bro, we love snow but if anyone asks me to live outside while snowing for more than 8 hrs damn I can't... it's very challenging I was in Russia I took a snow experience in Chelyabinsk where the temperature drops -40 °C... in Chelyabinsk with my Russian friends I did so many activities where we use to take a sauna bath and as soon as you take a sauna bath run outside in the snow and jump in cold water those kind of small activities I did but still if I get challenged to stay outside for 8 hours even with warm cloths I will give up. Hats off to our Indian soldiers who stand there in such a crucial environment... if any Indian soldiers check my comment please share my regards to all Indian soldiers that we Indians are proud of you. and please tell our Marathi soldiers that we Maratha proud of them 🚩Jai Bhawani 🚩Jai Shivaji. A lot of Nepalese people are settled in Border areas of Arunachal Pradesh and are mostly retired from the Indian Army. They are trained and equipped with LMGs and Rifles so that they can provide a line of defence in case a war breaks out.

Being from Southern part of india i just love the way people from north east treat guests ..shop owner teaching important lesson of life to kids- not to be greedy when someone offers help , she was okay while traveller forgot to pay, not expecting extra money, kids respecting her advise - real India.
Living condition is not great as u told, but being content with whatever they have, thier honesty, innocence have made them so rich..

the reason I am pointing it out is cause Punjab people are from North India where they are used to it with Cold environment but we Maharashtra state comes in a hot region and trust me, bro, we love snow but if anyone asks me to live outside while snowing for more than 8 hrs damn I can't... it's very challenging
I was in Russia I took a snow experience in Chelyabinsk where the temperature drops -40 °C... in Chelyabinsk with my Russian friends I did so many activities where we use to take a sauna bath and as soon as you take a sauna bath run outside in the snow and jump in cold water those kind of small activities I did but still if I get challenged to stay outside for 8 hours even with warm cloths
I will give up. Hats off to our Indian soldiers who stand there in such a crucial environment...
