I think Army personal tried to say, they were heading towards Nyoma which is protected area due to nearer Chinese border. (where foreigners & we too need permit to visit.) If you had said you needed lift till Upshi then they should be fine. Usually army give lift in my experience very often - and especially for sure at times where and when chances to get help from others is less..
Such big heart of those truck drivers they fed u. Indian trucking is the most difficult and these people deserve utmost respects from the countrymen. These road warriors are the one who keep our economy alive and robust. Jai hind and salute to all truck drivers of india. 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
That's what the western people want to see about India to feel better about themselves. That's why alot of videos of the poverty of India are made by Western youtubers. They attract viewers from the west . Check the difference in comments on this video and a video by bald and bankrupt about how bad India is.. here all the comments are by Indians. On that video all the comments are by westerners.

Oh my gosh, that was scary. It made me realise and appreciate the extremely harsh conditions indian army operates in to secure our borders. I am from Haryana close to delhi but never seen snow and such terrain in my life. There's so much to see in my own country.
Our Indian Soldiers fought and won the war of Kargil and most of the battle were fought at hill tops which were like 15000 to 18000 feet above the ground. Our Indian Army is one of strongest and bravest army in the entire world.
We don't appreciate our country enough. Yes, we are strong, resilient people. But, comparisons might bring our morale down. We forget that sometimes.. and sit and compare ourselves with others ... Look at that country and this continent and blabla. We are strong ; we have wisdom in our roots -- the Upanishads and other such great texts and wise beings who have experientially realized the truth time and again.

Not gonna lie, I am an India who lives in central India (place where not even earthquakes come) and when i visited Himachal and did a tour to masoori i guess I had to take the mountain road and I was scared af. Those were some of the most dangerous roads. Kudos to our brothers in transport, army, medical staff, etc who have to travel on mountain roads all the time for the people. It's very dangerous.
As an Indian, i can proudly say, it is rare to find such hospitality and support of local people anywhere else apart from India, they were always eager to help u
can't disagree more, nowadays hospitality in India is only limited to hilly areas and some rural areas of plain India. And bruh just go to Afghanistan, Iran, Kurdistan they will treat you like their own people

Military people have an important duty to do, they already have a huge responsibility of their own, and now if you are with them and some enemy attack their convoy, and something bad happen to you also, it will become a serious issue, especially for the commander who gave permission

I did a similar thing in 1992 ..I was travelling back to Manali from Leh on a local bus.. We reached Rohtang pass and I suddenly had no ride. I had no issues hitching a ride with a lori (truck) driver from Rohtang Pass to Manali...Those were some of the best times of my life!

@@manurvabhah only in some select countries with either 1) Large land areas like US and China 2) or countries like India which have perfect size and location to get different flora and fauna and different wheather in 4 different corners of our country. Like west have desert while east have perfect sceneries of forest while north have very beautiful glaciers you can get a perfect hot and humid wheather in south and if you want a good mixture of all those you can come to central India. With 3 ocean covering from sides and highest moutain ranges covering the top and rivers flowing across all the country to give fertile land you can't ask for any perfect geography than this.
I travelled 10 states of North India hitchhiking back in 2016 and I'd say India is a pretty safe country for hitchhiking. It was tremendously fun for me I hope you are enjoying as well. Best wishes man !

I think they didn't give u lift on army vehicle, maybe the truck is loaded with new arms of Sig 716 and others to chinese border , i seen some youtube videos or foreigners getting lot of help from indian army, maybe that's the reason he didn't let u in. Epic ! Liked the pictures around Leh. It is not a good idea to be be on the mountain road when the conditions are icy, wet and slippery. The first time I visited the Rohtang pass was from Manali in summer about 15 years back. I took a local government minibus tour of the pass from Manali. I was shocked how the driver was nonchalantly driving up the winding road with sheer cliffs on one side. Even then there were stretches of the road where the asphalt has been washed away by heavy rains. The next time I went to the region I just flew from Delhi to Leh :)

I think they didn't give u lift on army vehicle, maybe the truck is loaded with new arms of Sig 716 and others to chinese border , i seen some youtube videos or foreigners getting lot of help from indian army, maybe that's the reason he didn't let u in.

Epic ! Liked the pictures around Leh. It is not a good idea to be be on the mountain road when the conditions are icy, wet and slippery. The first time I visited the Rohtang pass was from Manali in summer about 15 years back. I took a local government minibus tour of the pass from Manali. I was shocked how the driver was nonchalantly driving up the winding road with sheer cliffs on one side. Even then there were stretches of the road where the asphalt has been washed away by heavy rains. The next time I went to the region I just flew from Delhi to Leh :)

Depends. In such mountain regions, you usually get a lift. A person asking for lift in city doesn't make sense so no one will stop.
