Hi everyone. Thanks for the continued support on my content. It really means a lot reading all of your beautiful comments. I will 100% be back in India in September for good and will be exploring Indias deepest regions, speaking to locals and sharing their stories. Stay Tuned. - Mike Okay x
P.S If anyone can help me find Dorjai, the guy who picked me up and gave me the energy drink and we sang songs together, I want him to see the video. I never got his contact details. x

I think Army personal tried to say, they were heading towards Nyoma which is protected area due to nearer Chinese border. (where foreigners & we too need permit to visit.) If you had said you needed lift till Upshi then they should be fine.
Usually army give lift in my experience very often - and especially for sure at times where and when chances to get help from others is less..

That's what the western people want to see about India to feel better about themselves. That's why alot of videos of the poverty of India are made by Western youtubers. They attract viewers from the west .
Check the difference in comments on this video and a video by bald and bankrupt about how bad India is.. here all the comments are by Indians. On that video all the comments are by westerners.

We don't appreciate our country enough. Yes, we are strong, resilient people. But, comparisons might bring our morale down. We forget that sometimes.. and sit and compare ourselves with others ... Look at that country and this continent and blabla. We are strong ; we have wisdom in our roots -- the Upanishads and other such great texts and wise beings who have experientially realized the truth time and again.

Epic ! Liked the pictures around Leh. It is not a good idea to be be on the mountain road when the conditions are icy, wet and slippery. The first time I visited the Rohtang pass was from Manali in summer about 15 years back. I took a local government minibus tour of the pass from Manali. I was shocked how the driver was nonchalantly driving up the winding road with sheer cliffs on one side. Even then there were stretches of the road where the asphalt has been washed away by heavy rains. The next time I went to the region I just flew from Delhi to Leh :)
