In 2018 I had gotten a bit bored with music and then I found this and Lo-Fi, synthwave, and vaporwave. Music became fun and inspirational again, more than ever before.
+Evan Duvanel man, I work in a call center and I had to put a guy in hold. Our waiting line music was down , so instead of leaving the customer with complete silence, I slowly put my earphones full volume next to the mic. No complaints and it's been twenty customers so far... :)
***** Specific examples that I can remember of the top of my head are early Saint Pepsi fan videos (specifically Cherry Pepsi, Private Caller, Just Begun and Enjoy Yourself), and channels like ArtzieMusic, Sun Levi, coastal田舎 and ElFamosoDemon before early 2015 (it's not strictly Japanese, but they employ a lot of salvaged retro video clips specifically from the late-1970s to the 1990s).
well tbh 80s/90 anime in Future Funk makes sense, since a lot of the future funk songs are remixed 70s/80s/90s songs from Japan so I mean it makes sense
LinkxMage The problem is oversaturation of 80s/90s anime for Future Funk visuals, specifically teen romance anime. In the past year it's pretty much replaced everything else, making the visuals indistinguishable from each other and in turn less interesting. Artzie Music for example, one of the most visible Future Funk channels around, used to have a healthy mix of everything (including anime) during its early Vaporwave years and transition to Future Funk, even throwing in some nice surprises, but since 2015, when it's come to rely on anime, it's been constricting to watch its newer videos knowing that the music could play out with more than just anime.
Vinesauce Obscurities true, I think a lot of the stuff on artzie music is just over using old anime, I personally dont mind some of it because I just love old anime art style, whether its characters designs, cities, music, I like it more than most anime out today so I don't mind it, but it is getting over used and I think the quality of future funk, the sound of it, isn't as good as before.
I think that that is one of the great things about Vaporwave: artists will sample songs, potentially re-imagining them into something a wholly different audience can enjoy, or, make people aware of the original songs and genres that are at the base of those new versions they enjoy. It just adds to the richness of music that genre-based generation won't inherently achieve.
I don't care what genre this is. I don't care how i got here. I don't care if it's meant to be listened to ironically. All I do know is I like this. I like it a lot. Almost too much.
As much as I adore this song, your video absolutely elevates that feeling of nostalgia for a time I've never experienced. It completes aesthetic of the song and just makes me feel genuinely happy everytime I listen to it. Thank you

damn Japan in the 80/90's era looks lit
Kiawe true

Dopy not everything involved with vaporwave is japanese
But this video is Japanese related, so Dopy's comment is valid, right?
these scenes presented in this clip are coming from ads or tv show. Does not represent the reality.
The song sampled for this is Junko Yagami - Bay City , for all you people who wanted to know
thanks i forgot the name cause it was in japanese when i saw it
thank you!
Chris Curry Tru. But respect to yung bae for knowing it i guess haha
thank you bro
I first heard this from City pop playlist on TH-cam so you don’t need to worry about that 😎
I've been singing "DUUUUUUUUU DUUUUUUUU, DU DU DU DU DU DU DUUUUU, DU DU DU DU DU DU DUUUU DUUUU DUUUUUUUU" all day.
Darude - Sandstorm? Just Kidding. I've been doing the same thing today and maybe forever.

My ears jizzed from the beginning to right at the end.
They literally came all over my headset and I can hear everything from 300 miles away now.
+Onion Knight huh, vaporwave isnt evenloud!!?
If your head doesn't start banging at 1:31, something is wrong with you.
+Kyobi Sen Every fucking time.
My head was banging the whole time
Kyobi Sen Same here! Hahaha
my head starts banging at 1:39, what's wrong with me ? :p
I just move my shoulders up and down.
I used to remember when vaporwave video editors would apply more variety in retro Japanese imagery. Now it's all 80s/90s animu.
***** Specific examples that I can remember of the top of my head are early Saint Pepsi fan videos (specifically Cherry Pepsi, Private Caller, Just Begun and Enjoy Yourself), and channels like ArtzieMusic, Sun Levi, coastal田舎 and ElFamosoDemon before early 2015 (it's not strictly Japanese, but they employ a lot of salvaged retro video clips specifically from the late-1970s to the 1990s).
it is 'japanese' future funk after all. Where did you manage to find all the clips?
well tbh 80s/90 anime in Future Funk makes sense, since a lot of the future funk songs are remixed 70s/80s/90s songs from Japan so I mean it makes sense

THANK YOU MATT
If you like this, you gotta listen to the woman sampled in this, Junko Yagami. Her album Communication is so good!!
YES!
The original is genuinely good; Yung Bae had a good song to start with, he's just injected it with vigour and reflex.
Ohhhh Sir, you made my night ♥
First time hearing her music, I fell in love.
***** Her music is just too sweet! I'm glad more can listen to her and learn about her through people sampling her stuff.
Exactly!
I love the euphoria transmitted in Future Funk music. Like a memory of a good party
Yes
Oh no not euphoria
@@donaldtusk2678 you know that euphoria is a feeling right?
wow. the commercials look way more "better" back then. oh damn i want a time machine right now.
Yeah, there were way more sexy Japanese girls and anime back then
yeeee
That's because actual film always looks better than video, even in shitty movies and TV shows
ironic considering vaporwave is a critique of consumerism
WHAAAAT?
2:39 had me like doooo-do. do. do. do-do-do. do do do-do-do doooo doooo
The mood that Japan was in back in the bubble is perfectly captured here both in visuals and sound.
Its wild how we almost came close to a cyberpunk world
