I enjoy this music, but i don't think that you can describe it with funky or jazz. And it's not smooth at all. Just because of some saxophone samples and some rhytmic guitar licks you can't call it funky. It's more like some disco kind a stuff. And the 4 on the floor beat kills any kind of smothness this mix could have. It's straight forward.

It most certainly was. Vaporwave was such an obscure sub genre of electronic music that it just came full circle. This is building almost directly off of those obscure electronic roots
Funny I stumbled on this because of Night Tempo (and now I've learned about Vaporwave) and completely agree that this is just putting me in an amazing mood.

This is the mix that started it all for me. I remember hearing this for the first time some years ago and instantly falling in love with future funk and then vaporwave. Fast forward to today, and I have my very own college radio show where I play things just like this. Funny how that works. Groove on.
@@citlalisketch3821 future funk is actually a lot more “cutty” in its use of instruments, while french house is a lot more “loopy” But theres almost no difference
It tilts me that I don't know any person that likes future funk. Like nobody in my town, province or country seems to even know about this stuff. Can I get some vaporwave funky weeb friends on the internet pls thank you.
"Future Funk" is essentially 1990's "French House" which itself is recycled 1970/80s funk/disco with synth-y electronic elements. Anyone who loves Daft Punk, Justice, Cassius, probably already loves this sound.
During the first 5 months of 2017, this mix helped me A LOT. I was studying for an exam that would determine whether or not I would be expelled from senior high school (for failing the same subject many times, this exam being the only way I could save myself from expulsion while my relationship with my parents was also hitting rock bottom), when I found this genre in this video by pure chance one day when I was going to a study group. My life before that, was to me at an all-time low. This kind of music somehow gave me a lot of confidence, gave me the opportunity to cool down even when the pressure on me was through the roof. I don't know how, but that's how it was. In the end I passed the exam and was able to mend my relationship with my parents. Now, I always hear this with a lot of nostalgia for me, because of the things I said before, you could say that as a reward, the best week of my entire life happened. With this mix, I found my taste for Future Funk, and... literally, this made a major change in my life for the better
@@squadgoals6693 No. Seriously, thanks to you. For make this. You and Artzie basically made me to get enough confidence to approve that exam. In fact, if i failed it, my life probably would be seriously different, for bad. But this, really. I even use FF videos in my (now) university as inspiration for projects. Really. Thanks to both of you Arztie Music and Squad Goals. (Also, i downloaded this as an mp3, i can't get tired of this ;w; )
Dude I feel the exact same way discovering it in the last few weeks and I felt like I was an idiot for feeling that way. Tbf a lot of things in my life have been improving lately but futurefunk has just felt like the anthem for it and it's awesome. Hope you're doing great!
love it future funk is like one thing that brings me joy every day just such a happy and loving community wish I had friends that were into it and just synth funk in general
+Squad Goals like ive been into a lot of synth funk and house my whole life and when i found this stuff it was a breath of fresh air for real i want to start making it but my internet is so slow it takes forever to get fl studio or anything like that but here soon we are getting better internet and ill hopefully be able to get involved
If you like French House/Future Funk (which I guess you probably do since you're on this video) then I'd recommend Interstella 5555, it's a nice little tribute to Daft Punk and their album Discovery which was one of the major driving force in inspiring this style of music.
It isn't just a tribute, Daft Punk themselves helped work on that movie! And it's fucking awesome 😁 One of my favorite anime movies ever ❤ Also I'm pretty sure the character designer for Captain Harlock worked on the film
As a African man, this is also my guilty pleasure when I just want something light hearted and a jam at the same time. Tunes like this reminds me of the summer cookout days or family reunion line dancing. What in the hell happened to family? 🤔
This, by far, is the best future funk mix of all time. The way it's mixed, the visuals... EVERYTHING makes of this a delightful experience, and it teaches to everyone how to make a good future funk mix. It's a real shame this channel died, because I really wanted a second part for this masterpiece...
I can't believe when I first heard this I was in hs doing homework and now Im currently a sophomore in college and all the nostalgia is coming back to me :')
Why does real music have to be a nostalgic afterthought? To literal hell with all the downtempo snake-charmer snarebeat crap. This is music that fuels your soul, not steal it. Stay groovy, future.
Due to popular demand, we will be making this mix available for download shortly. Thank you to the Squad Goal Universe for all the love and support. Link to follow in the next few days.
I love funk. This reminds me of Daft Punk. This gives me quite a calming feeling. Very therapeutic. And the anime scenes are most excellent. I wish there was a list of all the anime shown here. The thumbnail I know is Lum from Urusei Yatsura.
I need to stop finding good music, telling me not to mix my music taste is like telling someone to stop breathing. I'm currently into pop-punk, punk, rock, grunge, EDM, electronic, 80's, 90's, 70's, indie, k-pop, j-rock, house, chill, trap, k-rap, nu disco, electro house and now i can add Future funk and Vaporwave to the list.
I know how you feel :') your music taste sounds as crazy as mine haha. You might enjoy RetroWave too, it's like this, but more 80's and synthesized, but there are other unique forms of it too :P
Izzyisaghost why is it bad to have a lot of music you enjoy? I pretty much like any kind of music because it makes me feel great! You shouldn't limit your choices/genre of music 😋
Maaaan you need to peep some Boiler Room shows, they always have packed venues and play funk a lot. Snoop Dog did a Snoopadelic gig in LA last year! You could also catch a Chromeo DJ set.

We are so thrilled that this mix gave you the confidence to absolutely go after your GOΛLS! Thank you for being a huge part of the FF Family.
@@HirokaAkita LONG LIVE FUTURE FUNK!
INTERSTELLA 5555 !! WHEN I SAW THAT I SCREAMED, i love that film no one knows about it
+Inter Stella - I do! : D I remember - I was 11 and I saw it on Toonami - best. mini. movie. ever!
Oh I know about that anime. It was made with the whole discovery album. I bout the movie when I was in high school.
I knew it from Daft Punk, lmao

It's scary that in 5 years, this will become a decade old :(

Damn, came back to the vid and forgot about my comment. Hopefully everything's well in 5 years
Hopefully someone, somewhere out there preserves this so we don't ever lose this DJ jam that's basically our era's gems.
Im saving this on a pen drive
This is a serious note
Future funk actually helps and copes with my depression and i currently feel like an unborn baby being baptized
Chris Phan same!! This helps me cope also. ❤️
It truly does bro. This mix sends chills up my spine it’s sooo good!!!
How do you baptise an unborn baby? Asking for a friend
Hey! Just a reminder to come back and listen to it when you get into a rut :)
Dude I feel the exact same way discovering it in the last few weeks and I felt like I was an idiot for feeling that way. Tbf a lot of things in my life have been improving lately but futurefunk has just felt like the anthem for it and it's awesome. Hope you're doing great!
Here again after so many years not hearing this mix. Thank goodness it's still here!
I can't stop listening to this mix. I don't know how many full plays I have but more than 20 probably. And it'll raise more. This is just too good.
IT'S FUCKING GOD TIER
Much love! Thank you
Thank you so much!!

I feel the same way - if there was a community or group who love this as much as I do , I want to be friends in a heartbreak!
If you like French House/Future Funk (which I guess you probably do since you're on this video) then I'd recommend Interstella 5555, it's a nice little tribute to Daft Punk and their album Discovery which was one of the major driving force in inspiring this style of music.
Thanks
@@jackthorton10 You're welcome
Edit: Wasn't expecting to see you again, Jack.
It isn't just a tribute, Daft Punk themselves helped work on that movie! And it's fucking awesome 😁
One of my favorite anime movies ever ❤
Also I'm pretty sure the character designer for Captain Harlock worked on the film
Thank you for mansplaining
As a African man, this is also my guilty pleasure when I just want something light hearted and a jam at the same time. Tunes like this reminds me of the summer cookout days or family reunion line dancing. What in the hell happened to family? 🤔
This, by far, is the best future funk mix of all time. The way it's mixed, the visuals... EVERYTHING makes of this a delightful experience, and it teaches to everyone how to make a good future funk mix. It's a real shame this channel died, because I really wanted a second part for this masterpiece...

I used to ride around with my bike crew blasting this mix through my speaker on summer nights. Great times.
According to Artzie's average video length, he should be good for the next 2 months.
this is bliss. some of the greatest ever future funk tracks in here
it’s impossible to be unhappy listening to this
never mind i just started crying
I've known this playlist for 5 years already. I just woke up and randomly remembered this playlist and now I'm jamming to it again ✨

Love your vlogs Alex
Why does real music have to be a nostalgic afterthought? To literal hell with all the downtempo snake-charmer snarebeat crap. This is music that fuels your soul, not steal it. Stay groovy, future.

what anime cartoons scenes are these from? gotta get em !
+Dave Thundercloud A lot of different ones, Akira, Kimagure Orange Road, Sailor Moon to name a few, Macrosse series, I think I saw Jem in there haha

Some Bubblegum Princess in there too.

Still the best Future Funk mix and one of the best mixes on TH-cam ever.
Bro you cant randomly pop this i used to roll one for this hour Im sober now 😢❤😂😂
I need to stop finding good music, telling me not to mix my music taste is like telling someone to stop breathing. I'm currently into pop-punk, punk, rock, grunge, EDM, electronic, 80's, 90's, 70's, indie, k-pop, j-rock, house, chill, trap, k-rap, nu disco, electro house and now i can add Future funk and Vaporwave to the list.
cringe
I know how you feel :') your music taste sounds as crazy as mine haha. You might enjoy RetroWave too, it's like this, but more 80's and synthesized, but there are other unique forms of it too :P
Izzyisaghost why is it bad to have a lot of music you enjoy? I pretty much like any kind of music because it makes me feel great! You shouldn't limit your choices/genre of music 😋
Don't forget Tatsuro Yamashita, Miki Matsubara, and Junko Yagami.

16:05 I LOVE how the gif is synced perfectly with the beat!
28:37 That dance breakdown into a series of Pulp Fiction scenes is just soul satisfying.
I used to get violently high and watch this video over and over during my high school years. Mac da night 🌙
The 80s merely amplified the eccentricity of japan.
Why do they NEVER spin this kinda shit when I go to the club? *sigh*
This will change very soon.
Working on that
this genre is slowly getting popular...just wait
Maaaan you need to peep some Boiler Room shows, they always have packed venues and play funk a lot. Snoop Dog did a Snoopadelic gig in LA last year! You could also catch a Chromeo DJ set.
I live in Spain, and generally club music sucks here.

This is the kind of music I want in Sonic games, especially in the neon light zones. TAKE NOTE SEGA.
