As much as I make fun of A340s for being a waste compared to the A330, I like their engines an I would definitely want to go on one. The engines on the A350 have a good buzz muck like the engines we are still used to.
Cool video! The A340 looks to big for this airport. I bet the pilots of those small airplanes would be shocked when they were landing to see a Lufthansa A340 there.
Well sort of, it can fly ok, but it is seriously underpowered. The engines are like hair-dryers compared to the size and weight of this plane. It takes absolutly forever for it to climb and it goes so slowly. The performance of this plane is just awful.
David FSX The A340, unlike most planes, is designed to use just enough power to get the plane off the runway at takeoff. It does not go full power at takeoff. But rest assured, you will fly.
It amazes me how these a340's take off, its such a lumbering slow lift because of the power to weight with the older models like this. I love 4 engine planes, even this slow beast.
thx :) well you only hear the buzz if you are infront of the engines and actually all airbuses have a buzz the most has the a340,a330,a320,a319,a318 the a380 has only on some turbines buzz but if you fly Airbus you will hear a buzz :)
The A340-300 is notorious for being a runway hog and having poor climb performance. Notice how the captain did not even throttle back after takeoff, and actually throttled up for climb power 😂... the A340-500 and 600 with the RR Trents were much better, but those models came a bit late in the game when airlines started pushing for more fuel efficient wide body twins, and they were overshadowed by the A380.
And according to that, if 3 out of 4 engines failed, you can fly with one, and should they all fail, you still can manouver the aircraft through out RAT, and at last, the pilot is trained for such scenarios, unlike bus drivers or train drivers
I love the sounds, but I must beg the question. Why is there a Lufthansa A340 in Freeport, Bahamas? You'd think that Lufthansa would fly direct to Nassau, but Freeport, out of all places.
Not really. The runway at FPO is over 3,300 m (11,000 ft) long, same length as Nassau. British Airways used to fly 747s there regularly until the 1990s. Freeport used to be a prime tourist destination, that airport was very busy and received large planes all the time. But several factors, including serious damage from successive hurricanes from which the island never totally recovered, made it lose its former importance. Most tourists now come by cruise ship and many large hotels and resorts closed. That's why there is only demand for small planes now, but the airport is still perfectly capable of receiving large intercontinental jets.
3 million flights a day??.. I think he meant 3 million people fly a day... flight wise more or less its about 90,000 a day and about 46,000 of them in the US only.
0.7% ? That's almost 1 percent. So you are saying, for every 100 flights, one crashes? Odds seem pretty low for my liking. I'll take the train thanks...
I agree with you on planes being safe, which they are. However you pulled a few statistics out of your arse. 3 million planes do not fly a day, be realistic please. And the chance of a plane crashing is 0.7%? That means that out of those "3 million" flights, 21000 would crash. I hardly ever see reports of 2100 flights crashing a day lol. In many respects I haven't proved you wrong, I've just stated that air travel is even safe then you seem to think :)
The A340-300 is an old plane and LH is trying to get rid of it due to its low fuel economy. It seems like LH is minimizing this effect by placing this on shorter flights where the effects of older aircraft with less fuel economy would be lessened. Or this was a technical stop on a longer flight from Germany.
The A340 is a gorgeous plane. However, it's always funny to see how long it takes the 300-version's engines to get this plane up in the air. ;)
I still love the A340-300
me too well the new planes hardly habe a buzz saw :(
As much as I make fun of A340s for being a waste compared to the A330, I like their engines an I would definitely want to go on one. The engines on the A350 have a good buzz muck like the engines we are still used to.
Boeingdude2 The A320 still has a great buss when it takes off :)
awesome seeing the 340, I didnt realize FPO runway was like taxiing at DEN
That was some taxi... I was expecting to see a "Welcome to Miami" sign at some point.
Cool video! The A340 looks to big for this airport. I bet the pilots of those small airplanes would be shocked when they were landing to see a Lufthansa A340 there.
Me: *waits 82829278722828282 years*
A340: *revs up really loud*
Me also: HOLY SHOOT THAT SOUNDS GR8
More like a hairdryer... Rolls FTW in my opinion!
Ross McD it's cfm
Great Video - Really enjoyed!!! Love the camera work! 4 engines 4 long distance!
Amazing video! A340 is still an amazing airplane! :O
It is!
Well sort of, it can fly ok, but it is seriously underpowered. The engines are like hair-dryers compared to the size and weight of this plane. It takes absolutly forever for it to climb and it goes so slowly. The performance of this plane is just awful.
Yeah :p

+Adam Moreira Mostly no aircraft goes full power at takeoff... They do it to save fuel, something that is understandable with the prices these days...
The buzzsaw sounds are awesome!
Beautiful engine sound! love it 5/5
It amazes me how these a340's take off, its such a lumbering slow lift because of the power to weight with the older models like this. I love 4 engine planes, even this slow beast.
This was actually a very SHORT take off run for an A343.... Nice!
it was around april 28-30 2012 and the a346 is flying sometimes from dus-mia and then they fly to freeport if there is bad weather :D
Awww Cfm56 engines... i love it
Love the video! Was this a diversion due to wx or mtc? Every CFM that I know of makes the buzz saw sound.
wow! i bet thats the first time freeport saw lufthansa :D
i SWARE TO GOD i remember this same exact plane landing at the airport here in Grand Bahama.. and the a340-6 did the same thign a few months later
BEST ENGINE SOUND!!
Not all of them. Ones with CFM engines will sound like this, yes ;) Nothing better than the sound of cfm56's.
thx :) well you only hear the buzz if you are infront of the engines and actually all airbuses have a buzz the most has the a340,a330,a320,a319,a318 the a380 has only on some turbines buzz but if you fly Airbus you will hear a buzz :)
nice Energie Sound
yeah :D but it was a nice flying there
I didn’t know how the A340-300 sounded like,until now…..
Sad how I'll likely never fly in a quadjet like that A340 but I think me flying was close enough given that it has the exact same air frame!
IDK if old engines produces more jetblast or less jetblast then the Next Generation engines that are being produced today.
New ones put out more. Old ones just sound more powereful
The A340-300 is notorious for being a runway hog and having poor climb performance. this was a relatively short take off roll compared to others I've seen....these planes eat up alot of runway
light load!
And according to that, if 3 out of 4 engines failed, you can fly with one, and should they all fail, you still can manouver the aircraft through out RAT, and at last, the pilot is trained for such scenarios, unlike bus drivers or train drivers
That lucky man at 00:10
why did you land in freeport instead of miami?
I love the sounds, but I must beg the question. Why is there a Lufthansa A340 in Freeport, Bahamas? You'd think that Lufthansa would fly direct to Nassau, but Freeport, out of all places.
+Daniel K probably low on fuel. It happens a lot when flying transatlantic flights westward.
@@1nsertTitleHere Yeah right - an A340 cannot carry enough fuel for FRA - MIA nonstop 🤣😂
Those engine sound similar to the RB211
Capri Driver Yes!
How long was the ride from FREEPORT to MIA ?
because of a thounderstorm in Miami :/ sorry for replying so late :)
Where is Freeport?
4200 rpm during takeoff
Tell me, why did you land in Freeport??
Is it just me or do the engine pylons look kinda rusty/corroded?
Its you
Just you
I don't know but I feel it an old air plane is that right
that is a small airport for such a large airplane
yeah true all the other planes there were tiny

11:23 is when takeoff is.
yes ;) !
published on april fool's day
I think the main reason why this one was able to rotate so early was because all the weight of the fuel was gone...
Exactly.
3 million flights a day??.. I think he meant 3 million people fly a day... flight wise more or less its about 90,000 a day and about 46,000 of them in the US only.
true :)
weißt du noch die reg von dem 340-300?
Ne sorry :/
Du musst dich umbenennen :)
+StuttgartAviation Lol
+Boeingdude2 Ja weil die retro ist doch jetzt die D-AISV
Nice video for me. Do you know ICAO code for this airport?
sorry i dont :(
The icao code is MYGF
0.7% ? That's almost 1 percent. So you are saying, for every 100 flights, one crashes? Odds seem pretty low for my liking. I'll take the train thanks...
vid starts at 11:00
all airbus take off sound like that
Watch from 11:20 before it is garbage
hehe nice :D

Die Frau die da spricht, ist eine deutsche :D
Boeing dude putting airbus lol
lol
Rabid Wabbit Nope, one of the airbus planes look like the Boeing 747.
..no point to the first 7 and a half minutes of this vid...
Now I have seen videos of the A340 In operation especially takeoff but NOTHING like this ! Epic Video , Amazing!
you showed me this on skype lol!
this sound is only one word..... woooooooooow !
Where is Freeport? nice engine sound
How long was the flight from Freeport to Miami, doesn't look far :)
I love the roar of these CF engines. Sounds like a B737-723s....priceless
What time will they arrive there
Dat engine sound :P
Nice vid, subscribed!
haha yes
where is freeport ? was this a diversion ?
thx
haha ;)
Great video. Enjoyed watching. Pilots did not make any announcements. Must have been tired and ready for the hotel.
Boeing > Airbus
its in the bahamas and i will tell that the enignes ;)
What was that 360 at the beginning all about? They didn't have pushback neither?
Where exactly did you depart from? FPO?
Lol, yeah, it needed a little bit to reach Miami, sure :)
I love the turning part. And the Buzz. Is the Buzz sound only in the A340s?
we where redirected we where low on fuel
The little engines that could.
AwaitingTheMeteorOfDoom this is cfm 56-5c2
it was a long flight ;) around 15 min
Dont miss the guy dancing next to the plane in the beginning....
I think the last time Freeport did was almost 20 years prior :(
Nice !
U mean Freeport, Bahamas ?? It's a very short flight for an a340.
I think it's FRA as Freeport is Lufthansa ground handler.
R.E.A. EQ Freeport bahamas
R.E.A. EQ It was a diversion. They stopped in Freeport for Gasoline
haha true they where :)
haha true i love it :D
Great video :)
i love those
smoothest take off engine sound
Very nice climb. Love it!
A340 in Free Port?
my words so great !
Cfm 56 ❤️
why is there an a340 for such a short distance
The A340-300 is an old plane and LH is trying to get rid of it due to its low fuel economy. It seems like LH is minimizing this effect by placing this on shorter flights where the effects of older aircraft with less fuel economy would be lessened.
Or this was a technical stop on a longer flight from Germany.
This is no commercial route.... They needed to divert earlier, that is the only reason. LH is still using them on long haul.
These sound just like an A321 CFM engine thrust.
