    If I were you, I’d switch the sofa with the desk and make the current living room to mud room+ study. That way you won’t have to buy another carpet and keep the living room clean. Just a suggestion!

      @anner0730 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Iced Latte yes I was just about to suggest that

    • @isaultra3405
      @isaultra3405 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe not such a good idea because of the dog. She said around the sofa it's always very dirty from outside. You can't expect the dog to clean his paws before following his human

    • @Rooibostea5959
      @Rooibostea5959 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Isa Ultra By keeping “living room” clean, I meant the would-be living room if she switches the furnitures around! Yeah the mudroom+study area can stay messy lol

    I came across your channel, luv it. I luv your dreads also. You seem like a bright and lovely soul. There is so much noise and distractions out there. I sold my home in Phoenix and now rent in Philly. Got rid of most possessions and it is so freeing. Great for the soul--Namaste...Imagine if everyone engaged in yoga daily for 15 minutes how much nicer and kind the world would be...

    Lovely home! The location especially! For the entry/sitting room, I would suggest having an indoor/outdoor rug (low/no pile, tougher material) for the space. In our home, I find that the rug catches the dirt and would help it from being tracked into the rest of the home. So it would add some visual interest, a bit of comfort, and help keep things clean.

    Like someone else said, I would personally switch the couch and your desk and make the carpeted area your living room. Also depending on where you put your dining area, be sure to put something washable underneath because if it’s on the carpet it WILL get food and stains, no matter how clean and careful you are. Overall really lovely!

    I struggle with finding the right art for my walls, however what I have done recently is purchase scrapbook paper with prints I liked and framed them. It was a good way to experiment with a few different designs on a budget.

    I was hoping you'd make this video! Your home looks so peaceful - and what a great view. Do you use the yard, or is it usually too sunny and hot?
    My favorite artwork is puzzles of impressionist art - I put together the puzzle, then glue it and frame it. Also, hi Gypsy! She looks like she's busy napping hard (as is my dog under our desk right now)

    Did you buy your furniture second hand? I think it‘s great to buy from sustainable brands etc., but one of the best ways to reduce our emission footprint in my opinion is still buying things that are already here. I‘m not judging anyone, just wondering...
    Also I had to smile hearing you talk about your „small“ bedrooms. I think they are pretty reasonably sized and would already consider them large, but I‘m from europe, so... standards are different everywhere, but it found it sweet ☺️

    • @RebeccaSisson
      @RebeccaSisson  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I guess I'm used to "american" sized bedrooms! Some furniture is second hand; I agree it's one of the most sustainable things you can do. Some, like the couch, we bought new.

    What’s your favorite lightweight backpack and where did you get your dog bowls? I’m creating my secret Santa wishlist (mandatory family holiday event) and I don’t want anything but I do need a new lightweight hiking backpack and dog bowls. Amazon has entirely way too many options so a hint from a hiking/rock climbing pro couple would be appreciated. Oh and the bidet, I can’t find that particular one with two knobs.

    You have so much other closet space that I find the wardrobe in the living room to be unnecessary. Handy, but unnecessary. Taking it out would add more livable space in the living room. As for rugs, I have several jute rugs that I take outside and hose off when they get dirty from the kids and dogs coming in and out all the time. Jute is beautiful and sustainable and very washable. Your home is very cozy and welcoming 😊

    Hi! Lovely place. 😊 If i were you, i would take all the camp stuff and climbing stuff the close you showed later, and the close you showed first take place by the door or something, and i would use the area with the carpet as living room amd put the sofa there, and more plants and some wall decors may be, and the guest rooms closet is large, so may be you can use that room as master bedroom and the other room can be used as a guest room. 😊

    Hey, lovely serene feel to your apartment tour! Wanted to ask if you have you considered switching your bedroom with the office? The office is so big and has lots of storage... And then maybe you could put a little table and diner by where the door slides open into the garden so it would be in between the kitchen and living room - would be nice to eat and look out at that view through those massive doors!

    for low waste dog treats I use coconut oil and peanut butter slightly melted together then frozen in small ice cube trays (mine are shark shapes) but not too many a day because of the fat, or i cut disc shapes of sweet potatoes and carrots and dehydrate them. there is a company called compassion Circle they have a Vege dog supplement, they've been around since the 80s, I've always fed this to my Dobermans. I make their food with oats, rice, sweet potato, flax, all stuff I buy bulk anyway as a vegan, and then adding the supplement in for a wet food. they also give you recipes for dry food that you can make with vital wheat gluten, flour and a vege dog yeast which they sell in 5lb biodegradeable bags. You dry the food in the oven or your hot desert sun, the supplement powder comes in a 64 Oz plastic tub which is about 3mos worth of food for a 80lb dog. i use the old ones to store things or recycle. i've recently emailed the company to see if i can send them back for them to reuse but no answer yet. You can cut the dry food into small squares to the size of normal food but then I also leave long strips for her as treats. In January I lost my red dobie mango but there is a picture of her in the testimonial section with pieces of the food lying in front of her and she's waiting for me to say ok get it! Gypsy is gorgeous, nice to meet you from Michele and baby dobie Venus

    Dumb question: how do you do laundry? With no washer/dryer are you still doing laundry as if you're traveling? Granted you have very little clothing. It all probably fits in the kitchen sink 😆 I'm guessing you hand wash it and hang it out to dry?

    • @RebeccaSisson

      Sometimes we wash it in the sink and hang it on our drying rack. If we have a lot to do I'll take it to the local laundry mat.

    I love minimalistic spaces, but Gypsy is sleeping probably because she's bored silly. (No water, no toys... 🤣🤣🤣) JK... Our yellow lab Daphne drinks literally gallons a day and more times than I'd like to admit, we see that her water bowl is bone dry. We fill a baby pool on the patio for her to cool off in the Summer and she drinks pool water more than from her water bowl. We're in Carmichael CA, a suburb of Sacramento. It gets really hot here too! Love your vlogs and the first vlog I ever watched was when you shaved off your dreadlocks. You look just as beautiful with or without hair. Looks cool too! Keep the vlogs coming.

    Rug in the living room. 😀
    What kind of mattress do you have? I love the minimalist bedroom - peaceful for sleep! (I'm also a TV in the bedroom too)..
    The apartment is very nice! And great view! (I'm Milwaukee WI, not great view) I decorate with things from my travels and postcards from people who travel for me (international - over 60 countries).
    😂 Armpit sniff .. I would move the big cabinet out of the living room, move it to the office. More free space for your yoga and just to enjoy the space. ?

    • @RebeccaSisson
      @RebeccaSisson  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great ideas! I like having the big cabinet in that space just so we don't have to drag dirty climbing equipment through the house. But would definitely like it if the living room was more open! I forget the brand of mattress we went with...I think maybe Avocado was the name?

    I was just looking for a better zero waste matchstick idea, you've given me a lot of ideas, ty! Glad I found your channel. 🌱✌💚🌎 oh and forgive my east coast ignorance but why is the fence not touching the ground? My dobie would def squeeze under there lol but I wish my yard was sand, so cool

      I was an east coaster my whole life until I moved out here so I also don't know about why the fence is like that! Gypsy can definitely wiggle under so we have to keep her on a leash in the backyard. Luckily our front yard is big with a fence all the way to the ground for her to run around!

    Rebecca-I love your style! Thanks for the tour. Is your couch from Article? I had dreams of the Article sofa in leather before this lockdown, but that got put on the back burner for now. You have such a lovely home!

    You did not prefer to move the living room to the other room and make a temporary space with a place to work at the entrance?
