Most people are terrible listeners. Once you notice how people never ask you questions or listen to the answers you can never unnotice it. I recently met a man at a social gathering who was a freelance journalist; he talked non-stop about the difficulty of the industry, never stopping to ask me anything. Then a mutual friend walked over to me and said, "hey, how are things going at [well-known publication]". The man's jaw dropped. He didn't realise I was an editor who often commissions external writers because he never stopped to listen.

So many great ideas. You are one of my favourite vegan, intentional thought provoking simple living, aesthetically pleasing TH-camrs. How do you find or look into communication/listening? I think this is such an important tool and so many people do it soooo badly for a seemingly simple concept. I’m a nurse and spend so much of my day watching other people having no engagement with staff/ patients when they are meant to be listening. The first tool of good management should be how to listen and not turn it back round to you or sound condescending when repeating back. I find being present very mindful when I get home and my daughter or/or cats want attention. If I, looking at my phone they get fed up very quickly and don’t come back.

I’ve been reading and listening to podcasts about active listening. It’s really helping!

😳Oh my God what you just said about reflecting conversations back to yourself and trying to stop the habit of answering or saying things that has to do with how you would react is something that I seriously need to work on. My spouse constantly brings that up to me says that I do things like that and sometimes you just want somebody to listen and not put themselves in your situation.🖤

Awwwe Gypsy is such a loving woof! I do try to listen properly but I'm a problem solver by nature and not leaping in with a suggestion is so difficult! But I am getting better. Think I need a dog because no one wants to hear about my problems because I always seem to have the answers -apparently? ??!!!
I like the idea of mini breaks in the day. I'm going to use that one. Thank you

This was a lovely video. The point about not having to work up a huge sweat and be out of breath to consider a workout as such was a big one for me, too. I’m much more consistent with exercise now because of the mindset shift. I’m curious, do you mind sharing the brand of your adjustable desk? I looked through your videos to see if you’ve mentioned it before but wasn’t able to find anything. I’m needing something like that and I love the look of yours.
